Babcock said he would build the team around Vince for the future, which cements the fact that he will not be traded PERIOD. End of discussion.
Actually Chungster he also said that any player is on the market for the right kind of return. Here is the article. Pros and cons of trading Vince away: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Will they? Should they? Can they? Speculation about a Vince Carter trade, from either the figment of the imagination of callers to talk radio shows or legitimate discussion between Rob Babcock and other NBA general managers, is going to continue for the foreseeable future. Some of it will be true, most of it will be unworkable under salary cap rules and it may never, ever come to pass. "Vince is somebody we want to build this team around," Babcock said yesterday. "However, around the league. ... everybody is tradable, there isn't anyone in the league who isn't. I mean, Kevin Garnett ? talk to (Minnesota general manager) Kevin McHale, he's not likely to trade Kevin Garnett but you give him the right combination of players and throw in Niagara Falls and you might get him." It won't take Niagara Falls to pry Carter away from Toronto. Here are some pros and cons to consider when thinking about dealing their best player:</div> <div align="center"><u>Full Story</u></div>
i think the raptors need to trade vince because what they lack is depth and with their precarious cap position for the next few years until jalens and alvin contracts expire vince needs to be traded. here's my trade, i firmly believe this will make the raptors a contender in the few years if they do this. vince to memphis for bonzi wells, earl watson (watchout for this kid) and shane battier {all players are heading into the last years of their contract} starters blount- C (offer him as much money under the cap cause u filled 3 rotation positions with vince's money} bosh- pf jalen- guard bonzi- guard earl watson- guard bench marshall (pf) devin harris (pg) shane battier (sf) alvin (combo)
i heard Vince might be traded for Allen Iverson... any truth to this.. i mean, they both had bad years (publicity) and they'll need a fresh start, but if it is true, i would want more then AI becuase AI is slowing down with nagging injuries and we all know he can just run around people.

I hope he is not traded VC is one of my favorite NBA players. Seeing him on another team beisdes the raptors just wouldnt look right. It would be like seeing kobe in the kings jersey not a lakers one. He earned the nickname Air Canada because of his team so if he is traded toronto not only loses a superstar lol, but VC loses a nickname.

That is a stupid contradicting comment that no professional boss would say. He just said that for the sake of it to inform everyone that a player is tradeable, and it is not referring to Vince getting traded if the Raptors are offered a good combination of players.

A couple weeks later bam! A-rod is a yankee. Hopefully they wont trade vine he is a franchise player definition of a franchise player being a player that would make a imediate impact on a team. not only that he puts fans in the seats. He has evolved his game these past couple of seaosns from just a dunker to a jump shooter. Sort of like domanique wilkens did when he went down with his injury. He came back with so many new levels added to his game.

If the Raptors are given a deal that they deem serious they will have to consider it. Like Pure Skillz stated above: Superstars can be traded for the right price and Babcock is stating that in the article.
Hey... Texas Dealt A- ROD and they are better now i believe....... so if Raptors trade VC they mite get better too.... So You never know what will happen

there is a very low chance of carter being traded, it is cemented in this article in Today's Star: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><font face="Times"><font size="6">Raptor GM, Carter united </font></font><font face="Times"><font size="4"><font color="#000000">`Vince and I are on the same page' No talk of trade for Toronto superstar</font></font></font> <font face="sans-serif"><font size="2"><font color="#000000">DOUG SMITH </font></font></font><font face="sans-serif"><font size="1"><font color="#000000">SPORTS REPORTER</font></font></font> <font face="Times New Roman, Times, serif"><font size="3"><font color="#000000">An hour-long conversation in the quiet of the Raptor locker room, an impromptu get-to-know-you session that did not include a trade demand, has Rob Babcock feeling pretty good about his budding relationship with Vince Carter. The Raptors general manager said he and Carter share the same goal ? improving a club that's sunk near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings in each of the last two seasons. "I said, `Vince, this is what we are and this is what we're going to do,'" Babcock recalled yesterday of their conversation a week ago. "We had a very good talk about our philosophy and what we want to accomplish here and I can say I feel very strongly that Vince and I are on the same page as far as (how) the game should be played.</font></font></font> </div> read the rest here http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081593064
This should put those crazy trade rumours to rest. Good article. Like I said before: Vince wants to stay and there is no way that he would demand a trade from the Raptors unless something extremely drastic happened. We would not be able to get fair value for VC due to his injuries in the past anyways so it is good to keep him. After all he is the face of the Raptors.
