It would have to be a threeway trade because Lin makes no sense for us, and Asik (while a good player) wouldn't really make a lot of sense with Lopez. If that deal went down, I'd be looking to move Lin and Leonard for something that actually made sense for us long term.

I do like Motiejunas though. Did he do SL this year?

I'm curious if Aldridge actually is still a blazer at the start of the season. If any of the rumors are true; then it makes most sense for management to trade him before it becomes a distraction during the season.

I think if no deal is made; then the rumors were made up. Some may say they just didn't get good enough offers; but I seriously find that hard to believe. I think contending teams would give their left nut to have one of the best PFs in the game.

The Bulls give up the best and 3rd best players and get back a backup C and guys we don't want.

I personally think LMA is better than Noah. So they'd give up the second and third best... and get a starting Center, because yes, he would start for the Bulls - Asik - a player in which Thibs LOVES.

They would have to eat the contract of Freeland and Lin, which doesn't seem that appealing in order to get a decent center.

Might as well just amnesty Boozer at that point, instead of taking on ridiculous contracts.

From the Bulls' POV, they're near able to beat the Heat and advance to the finals. If not this season, they intend to do it via attrition. Rose has plenty of years left and the Bulls intend to replenish the roster via the draft pick and Mirotic.

The Charlotte pick will be unprotected in 2016. It may well be first overall. A chance to pair Rose with another elite player.

Asik wasn't good enough to start for the Bulls, or even push Boozer to the bench so they could play Noah at PF. Think about it. ;)

Is anyone honestly arguing otherwise? LMA is clearly better than Noah. Noah has the fortune of playing at the position with the least depth in the league, which makes him seem better than he is.

Denny was when he stated the Bulls were giving up the 1st and third best talents in BGD's hypothetical trade.

Well, considering in that specific trade, you'd trade BOTH Boozer and Noah, you'd have 2 starting spots open, PF and C. Asik is better than he was with the Bulls, and wouldn't be behind Noah, so I am thinking about it - and I think that Asik would start for the bulls in that scenario. PF would obviously go to LMA. The only other C on the Bulls roster would be Freeland an Nazr? I believe.

I honestly do not understand how you could refute that. Freeland is going to start over Asik? Doubt it.

So the Bulls would be getting a starting center.

And FWIW, I was agreeing with you. The Bulls have no reason to do that trade, if they have to take on Freeland and Lin. Unnecessary waste of cap space.

Denny charmingly overvalues Bulls players. HOWEVER, you guys are undervaluing Noah. Aldridge is clearly better at him on offense. But, that said, Noah's contribution to the Bulls' offense is greater than it looks because of his very advanced passing skills. And though his jumper is butt ugly, it's also strangely effective.

Furthermore, Noah's defense is equally far ahead of Aldridge's. Aldridge's defense is good (and often undervalued) but Noah's is elite. And finally, Noah is one of those players, like Kevin Garnett, whose sheer intensity and will to win, besides making them hated by fans of all other teams, has an amazing effect on an entire team. Aldridge, on the other hand, is kind of a loner and wouldn't "set the tone" of any lockerroom. So Noah is probably the more valuable player. And he's almost certainly more valuable to the Bulls than Aldridge would be.

Of course, if Aldridge would have a complete change of heart and say "fuck it: I am a center and I will play there as much as you like" as Noah has done, things might be different.

Final thought: there is one way in which the Bulls might give up Noah, and that is if they got Asik as part of a package for him. Asik, although lacking in Noah's charisma, and (even) worse on offense, is almost his equal as a defender, and actually larger. Plus Thibs is used to him. But I think the Bulls would want Asik AND Aldridge if they were to give up Noah.

Something like this would make sense for them (but probably not for us and Houston, although they could sweeten it with the CHA pick and/or Mirotic and if we could find another place for Lin...)

And even then, Chicago might balk at Asik's balloon payment, because that's how Houston scared them away from matching him in the first place. Plus they don't get to amnesty Boozer (although if they really like Jimmy Butler, they could swap Deng for Boozer and Houston might prefer that.)

[Sidenote: Trade Machine just okays ANY trade now, right? It doesn't seem to check if the salaries match at all any more.]

But what is the point of acquiring Noah if we're trading Aldridge? The one seems pointless without the other?

How did a topic about a Blazers and Rockets trade get turned into yet another one with the Bulls forcing a trade on the Blazers?

    Your trade is OK.

At most the Bulls might throw in a 2nd round pick or two.

Cause Denny is a bulls fan?

Seriously, I would rather have the Houston deal than what's been offered for the Chicago deal. Lin is tradable, but can still be an important back up to Lillard. Asik and Lopez is a perfect anchor at center; which would give us another tradable asset with Leonard.

We could use Leonard + batum for a serious player. We might have to toss in another player. Regardless, it's pretty evident this is Lillards team, so if we are going to rebuild, we need to follow the Chicago mold and how they built around their star "rose"

Only way Portland accepts that is if we get the Charlotte pick. End of story...

    Houston's offer is much better

    Houston's offer isn't even close.

    But if you say so.

Realize actual talks stopped the instant Noah's name was mentioned.

And of course the Bulls would just throw in a pick that might be the choice between an Oden or Durant in 2016 because they're idiots.

Bullshit it isn't even close. You want to trade hinrich, Noah and Gibson; but want Matthews (starter), Leonard (future center prospect) and Aldridge (the best player in the entire deal).

The Houston deal, we trade only Aldridge and receive Lin, asik prospects and a pick. We get to keep Matthews and Leonard.

I don't know what world you live in, but the Houston deal is much better.

Lin is much better than hinrich. Noah is much better than asik; but asik and Lopez is a solid rotation. Gibs is good; but has a high salary. We have t rob that looks like he could be a young double double machine.

The Houston deal, we trade one player and get 3; while you want us to trade 3 players for 3 players. Lmao!

    SMH.

    Go for it.

    Quantity is greater than quality!

If you want players, I'm sure the Bulls could send you a S&T Radmanovich and Malcolm Thomas.

Dude that's exactly what we need.

Losing Aldridge will most definitely drop the strength of our team ten fold. Adding a high priced center (great mind you) isn't what we need.

Houston was giving us prospects and multiple picks. And we don't have to give away more players.
