He was 2nd best player on a great western conference finals team.

They had the championship warriors tied up 2-2 in the playoffs with an injured Mike Conley and Tony Allen.

    Zbo was pretty good.

I don't really remember much of Ike Diogu but Swanigan if he pans out could be a Very good player.
People say he can shoot the 3 and he has good %s but he plays around the rim. He's strong, crafty, has excellent hands and touch and good understanding of the game. Even on defense which is supposedly his weakness, he knows how to be in the right spots and is effective despite not being athletic enough to be a real shot blocker. But he's a 4, and a very good 4, IMO, a real *Power* forward.
He could be Ike Diogu but that's his floor IMO, he could also be much better

Could Ike shoot the 3 ball?

    Per 40:
    Swanigan: (So) 22.7 ppg, 15.3 rpg, 3.7 apg [6'9", 247 lbs]
    Diogu: (So) 24.7 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 1.8 apg [6'8", 250 lbs]

Swanigan got 58% more rebounds than Diogu did per 40. He also had double the assists.

It's tough to find some comps with that rate of rebounds, scoring, and assists.
    Z Randolph: (Fr) 21.8 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 2.1 apg [6'9", 253 lbs]
    K Love: (Fr) 23.6 ppg, 14.4 rpg, 2.6 apg [6'10", 260 lbs]
    M Speights: (So) 23.9 ppg, 13.3 rpg, 1.6 apg [6'10, 245 lbs]
    S May: (So) 21.0 ppg, 13.6 rpg, 1.9 apg [6'9", 266 lbs]

There's a ton of ways to compare players, but I'd say Caleb lines up closer to Zach than Ike. Of course he could end up closer to Sean May in the end to....

Well, that's a problem. Caleb has already lost 100 lbs. What if he loses a couple hundred more?

These things are not close to the same thing. You want him to be Diogu, great, go for it.

BTW, the #9 pick in the draft. And no, i dont want him to be Ike. Just don't see where he fits on the defensive end.

That is awesome! You should ask Neil for a job. :)

I wore my signed Brian Grant jersey tonight and am stoked we got a solid PF prospect. Kid has strong character and some real skill to build on.

Yeah, I think so, too. Olshey seemed pretty hyped about Collins. I see a guy who I question has the frame to put on enough good weight to be a real factor longterm, but Olshey was really ga-ga over him. I look at see a Collison who might have more scoring tools, but those tools might not be enough and actually might be a detriment because, if they don't develop, he might not even fully embrace his role as a role player.

Of course, I don't like the idea of trading two top-20 picks for a guy who I think has a strong chance to only be a role player, so there's that, too ....

Was hoping to trade this pick for a couple 2nd rounders or for more of a ready now piece.

Caleb has clear strengths but his player archetype rarely contributes to winning basketball in the modern NBA.

Best case scenario is he becomes Brandon Bass.

While I agree Zach will be a role player on this roster playing next to Dame/CJ/Nurkic. But I believe he will develop into a quality role player that does a lot of the dirty work, and can score when needed. A Jerome Kersey level of role player is just what this roster needs.
