    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting NTC187:</div><div class="quote_post">Jesus christ, they have 8 SG/SF's!

I think their best team would be:

    C - Al Harrington
    PF - Marvin Williams
    SF - Josh Smith
    SG - Joe Johnson
    PG - Salim Stoudemire</div>

naw, we'll have Zaza in the middle. (or that john edwards guy..... I definately don't like it when my team signs players that I've never heard of.)

Like I said in the other thread I wasnt rooting for the Hawks to sign John Edwards, but if he can take Bogut to school, he's probably an upgrade over Jason Collier, I still would want Darius Songaila over him though.

^ i have a feeling we're going after cheap underrated talent right not, to save our cap space for something big, maybe a trade, or signing Eddie Curry?

what, that guy from "Crossing Over"?... [IMG] j/k

Yeah I was going to put down Zaza at C, but I didnt know if Atlanta would want to give him minutes over some of the better players they have, like Harrington who is tall and probally capable of playing C, but I dont know if he even would want to.

Either way, Atlantas team looks alot better than last season, although I was dissapointed in their pick of Williams, they didnt really need him, would've been better off with a specialist Centre or Power Forward rather than another Small Forward when they have like 7 already, lol.

^ yeah, i didn't really like the Williams pick, but whatever, its over now...

amyway, I have a feeling Harrington will be gone before the season starts, so no playing center for him.

Everyone thinks because Ben Wallace is 6'9 that other 6'9 guys can do what he does. Al Harrington has a career average of .20 blocks per game

Hmmm.. Ben Wallace has a career average of 2.3 blocks per game.

Detroit had Larry Brown coaching, and some hard working guys.
Atlanta has umm, I'm not sure who is coaching, and some young guys who probably don't care about winning too much this early in their careers.

Atlanta will definitely be a run 'n gun team this year.

Run N' Gun will be the heart and sole of Atlanta's philosophy with a roster like this. Look at the build of Big Ben and then look at the build of Al Harrington, its alike and thats why people make comparisons, but its not right because theirs no 6'9" guy in the league that can shut anyone down like Ben can. It's unfair to Ben because no one really plays like him and suckas that stand 6'9" and play ball are compared to him. No disrespect to Al Harrington, and no that comment wasnt directed at him.

Maybe the Hawks are counting on Josh Smith or Marvin Williams to still grow. It's possible for them to grow another inch or two.

Well, my personal input is that I think that we will be trading for a center. Al Harrington will be leaving for a Center like Jamaal Magloire and we will add in someone. If we could get a Magloire-type player we would be alright and I would make a sig bet with everyone on this site that we would make the playoffs. Just wait till Salim, Josh S., Josh C., and Marvin get to there potential. And, we have a young JJ. OM....G Murder in '08.

Atlanta should've tried to sign Curry, they had plenty of cap space. Picking up Joe Johnson wasnt really worth while, he will be good for you guys no doubt, but again just clogging up the SG/SF position, although I hear he's going to play the point, hopefully it works out for the Hawks.

I think if the JJ at PG project doesnt work out, we can expect to see a trade before the deadline with Harrington and possibly one of our young wing players either Childress or Smith gone. I hope the JJ deal works out and we dont have to pull a trade.

The Hawks currently have two roster spots open. Who else would you like to see the Hawks sign this summer? The Hawks still need some big bodies to round out their roster, and the three best available free agents left are Eddy Curry, Darius Songolia, and Reggie Evans.

After those three the quality drops off in a hurry and the Hawks would likely have to work out a trade to get a quality big man. The Hawks were smart not to get involved with Eddy Curry, he's too, much of a risk for a team rebuilding. However, I think the Hawks should overpay to get Reggie Evans or Darius Songolia added to the team. Reggie Evans would help the Hawks out immediately on rebounds, and get the offensive players extra looks. He'll also improve the interior defense of the Hawks, and doesn't look to shoot, which makes him an ideal role player. He's still only 25 years old, so the Hawks could afford to offer him a long term deal. The Sonics likely won't match an offer for Reggie Evans if it's for 5 years.

Darius Songolia would be my second option if Reggie Evans isn't available. The Bulls are close to signing him, but the Hawks still have an outside chance. Songolia is a better offensive player than Evans, but he's not nearly the rebounder or defender Evans is. Songolia is an efficient player, and he's accurate from mid-range. He would fit the uptempo style the Hawks plan on running this season, and has a strong body to bang down low on both ends of the court.
