Roberto Aguayo kicks 5 FGs as No. 1 Florida State routs Wake Forest

The Florida State defense had not looked capable of keeping the top-ranked Seminoles in contention for a realistic shot at a national title through the first four games. Turnovers have been absent and FBS opponents had been racking up the points.

Until Saturday, when Wake Forest traveled to Tallahassee.

The FSU defense ruled the day as the Seminoles eased to a 43-3 victory over the Demon Deacons.

FSU hopes Rashad Greene can play

The No. 1 Florida State Seminoles could be without leading receiver Rashad Greene and leading rusher Karlos Williams, among others, for Saturday's game against Syracuse.

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher hopes Greene, a senior, will be available based on his early progress. Greene did not play in the second half of last weekend's 43-3 win against Wake Forest after sustaining a concussion late in the second quarter, which made him dizzy and caused him to vomit at halftime.

"His response [Monday] was really good, no lingering effects, but he still has to go through a protocol," Fisher said. "... But those things, one day they're real good and the effects will come later. Every person is different and every [concussion] is different."

Jameis Winston leads No. 1 Florida State past Syracuse

    Distractions? What distractions?

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston ignored the controversy from a sexual assault allegation swirling around him and responded with a nearly flawless performance Saturday, throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns as the top-ranked Seminoles beat Syracuse 38-20.

Duke ends 10-year skid, upsets No. 22 Georgia Tech

Strike another long losing streak off Duke's record.

Anthony Boone threw for 123 yards and a touchdown, Josh Snead rushed for 102 yards and a score, and the Blue Devils snapped a 10-year skid against Georgia Tech by knocking off the No. 22 Yellow Jackets 31-25 Saturday.

    FSU looks into Winston autographs

Even as Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he believes quarterback Jameis Winston didn't sign autographs for money, a source tells ESPN that the university's athletic compliance department has begun to look into how so many Winston autographs were authenticated by a single company.

ESPN has learned that after the team's 38-20 win against Syracuse Saturday, Fisher approached Winston and asked him if he signed autographs for money. Winston told Fisher, according to the source, that he did not.

    Fisher: 'We've been through this'

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher is confident Jameis Winston will not miss the No. 2 Seminoles' game against No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday or any game this season despite an upcoming university student conduct code hearing that stems from an alleged December 2012 sexual assault of another Florida State student.

In a letter sent to Winston and his attorney on Friday, which ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach obtained, FSU interim president Garnett Stokes and vice president for student affairs Mary B. Coburn informed Winston he could be charged with as many as four violations of the university's code of conduct.

The possible punishments range from a written or verbal reprimand to expulsion.

"None," Fisher answered when asked about his level of concern Winston could miss games.

    Wolfpack suspend 7 players

NC State announced Monday that seven players have been suspended for its game against Louisville this weekend following a BB gun incident at an off-campus residence.

Leading tackler Jerod Fernandez and starting safety Josh Jones have been suspended, along with receiver Johnathan Alston, defensive tackle Justin Jones, defensive end Pharoah McKever, receiver Jumichael Ramos and cornerback Mike Stevens.

Redshirt freshmen Tyler Jones, Kalen McCain, Deyshawn Middlebrooks, Terronne Prescod and Maurice Trowell also were involved and have been placed on team probation.

    Deshaun Watson to have surgery

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Sunday that freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson will have four screws put in his finger to heal a small broken bone, and he will need a month of recovery before he returns for the 24th-ranked Tigers.

Swinney said Watson would have the procedure Monday. The first-year starter hurt the finger on his right, throwing hand Saturday in the second quarter of a 23-17 victory over Louisville. The win returned Clemson (4-2, 3-1 ACC) to the national rankings.

Fisher believes Winston was not paid

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said the university has spoken with the company that has authenticated more than 950 items with Jameis Winston's signature and is confident Winston did not receive money in exchange for autographing memorabilia.

On Monday, ESPN.com's Darren Rovell and Mark Schlabach reported Florida State compliance was looking into how so many Winston autographs were authenticated by James Spence Authentication.

"Feel very good. Talked to [Jameis] and everything, people have talked to the owners of the company and different people, from what I understand," Fisher said. "We'll see.

"... They're sorting it out, but I feel very confident right now."

After last weekend's win against Syracuse, Fisher asked Winston if he signed autographs for money, to which Winston said he did not, ESPN.com reported Monday.

Fisher reiterated on Tuesday that Winston told him directly that he has not accepted money in exchange for signing memorabilia.

"He's never taken a dime from anything," Fisher said. "He's signed thousands of things. An hour and a half before a baseball game he signs, an hour and a half after the game. There's thousands of things out there with his name. He's very accommodating."

No. 2 Florida State stays perfect with comeback over No. 5 Notre Dame

With Florida State's perfect record still intact and a second-half rally against Notre Dame complete, Jameis Winston and coach Jimbo Fisher shared a hug as the crowd exploded in celebration.

    Winston had done it again.

"He has a drive to win," Fisher said. "He has a drive for greatness."

No. 24 Clemson staves off Boston College upset bid

Clemson quarterback Cole Stoudt played through a shoulder injury to beat Boston College on Saturday and earned a fitting reward for toughing it out.

The son of former NFL quarterback Cliff Stoudt was presented with a leather helmet as the Most Valuable Player in the Tigers' victory, a prize that harkens back to the birth of the rivalry in the 1940 Cotton Bowl.

"He had a heck of a night," coach Dabo Swinney said after Stoudt set career highs with 29 completions and 45 attempts and finished with 285 yards to lead No. 24 Clemson to a 17-13 victory. "I'm really proud of him stepping up, especially on the road."

    Adam Choice suffers torn ligament

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said leading running back Adam Choice is lost for the season after tearing a knee ligament.

The 21st-ranked Tigers (5-2, 4-1 ACC) will also be without tight end Jordan Leggett for several weeks after he also suffered a knee injury. Swinney said both players were injured in last Saturday's 17-13 victory at Boston College.

Clemson faces Syracuse (3-4, 1-2) on Saturday night.

No. 21 Clemson, Stoudt outlast Syracuse 16-6

Syracuse coach Scott Shafer apologized to his team's supporters, even though the Orange had little to hang their heads about against No. 21 Clemson.

The Orange (3-5, 1/3 Atlantic Coast Conference) led the Tigers well into the third quarter before falling 16-6 in their first trip to a near sold-out Death Valley.

    Karlos Williams target of probe

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating an alleged domestic assault involving Florida State running back Karlos Williams, the agency said in a news release issued Monday.

Williams, a senior from Davenport, Florida, is being investigated for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, who lives with him and is pregnant with the couple's second child, according to people familiar with the investigation.

"The athletics department is aware of an investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department involving football student-athlete Karlos Williams," the school said in a statement. "Until we receive more information regarding the alleged incident his status with the team will be under review."

No. 2 Florida State rallies from 21-0 deficit to win 24th straight

If trailing Auburn by 18 last season in the BCS Championship game didn't shake Florida State, a 21-0 first-half deficit to Louisville surely wasn't going to, either.

Thanks to another remarkable comeback by the Seminoles and quarterback Jameis Winston, their hopes of competing for a second straight national championship remain intact.

Winston threw three touchdown passes to offset a three-interception start and Dalvin Cook had two long scoring runs to help second-ranked Florida State rally for a 42-31 victory over Louisville on Thursday night.

Backup QB Thomas Sirk keeps Duke atop ACC Coastal

Duke is getting used to thriving under pressure.

Give the nation's 24th-ranked team a tight game and they're more than happy to let you make the mistakes while they go about their business.

The familiar formula -- and a case of the jitters by Pittsburgh kicker Chris Blewitt -- kept the rapidly maturing Blue Devils above the fray in the chaotic Coastal Division.

Backup quarterback Thomas Sirk bulled into the end zone from 5 yards in the second overtime to lift Duke to a 51-48 victory over the Panthers on Saturday.

Rashad Greene's career-high 13 catches help No. 2 Noles top Cavaliers

Jameis Winston overcame some more first-half mistakes to lead second-ranked Florida State to another comeback victory.

The Heisman winner threw for 261 yards and accounted for two touchdowns in Florida State's 34-20 victory over Virginia on Saturday night.

No. 22 Duke beats Syracuse 27-10

Say this for Duke star Jamison Crowder. He listens well to his coaches.

With Syracuse pinned at its own goal line and getting ready to punt early in the fourth quarter of a tie game, Duke's coaches advised Crowder to be aggressive on the return.

He was, racing 52 yards for the touchdown that gave Duke the lead for good, and the No. 22 Blue Devils rallied past the Orange 27-10 on Saturday.

Georgia Tech beats NC State 56-23

D.J. White and Quayshawn Nealy scored defensive touchdowns in the second quarter to help Georgia Tech (No. 24 CFP) beat North Carolina State 56-23 on Saturday.

White's 38-yard interception return and Nealy's 43-yard fumble return put the Yellow Jackets (8-2, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) in firm control, blowing open a close game to keep them right behind No. 22 Duke in the Coastal Division standings.
