Dalvin Cook's late TD helps No. 3 Florida State escape at Miami

Nothing seems to bother Florida State.

Distractions off the field, deficits on the field, nothing has derailed the Seminoles for 26 games and counting. And after yet another comeback, the defending national champions are squarely in the mix for another title.

Dalvin Cook ran for two scores, including the go-ahead touchdown with 3:05 remaining, and the third-ranked Seminoles rallied to beat Miami 30-26 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win over their archrival and the fifth straight time they have won on Hurricane turf.

Yellow Jackets return two interceptions for long TDs to rout Clemson

Georgia Tech has improved its chances of earning a spot in the ACC championship game, and this time, it was the defense playing the lead role.

Jamal Golden and Chris Milton returned interceptions for touchdowns, and the Yellow Jackets (No. 22 CFP, No. 25 AP) beat Clemson (No. 19 CFP, No. 18 AP) 28-6 on Saturday to gain ground in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division race.

Virginia Tech forces 3 takeaways, upsets No. 21 Duke

Virginia Tech's first takeaway got the Hokies back in the game against Duke (No. 21 CFP, No. 19 AP). The next two helped propel them to another road upset.

The Hokies claimed a 17-16 victory over the Blue Devils on Saturday after scoring all their points off three turnovers forced from a Duke team that's one of the nation's best at protecting the ball.

    Watson avoids major knee damage

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has a sprained LCL and a bone bruise, the school announced Sunday, but the freshman quarterback could return to action for the season finale against South Carolina in two weeks.

Watson, who emerged as the Tigers' starting quarterback after nearly leading them to a win over then-top-ranked Florida State in September, suffered the knee injury in the first quarter of Saturday's loss to Georgia Tech. The injury looked severe in the immediate aftermath, but an MRI on Sunday revealed only a minor sprain.

Clemson to start QB Cole Stoudt

No. 19 Clemson will start struggling quarterback Cole Stoudt on Saturday against Georgia State, coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday.

With Deshaun Watson out because of a knee injury, Swinney decided to give Stout another chance to prove himself following a disastrous performance last week against Georgia Tech.

Stoudt threw three interceptions, with two returned for touchdowns, in a 28-6 loss to the Yellow Jackets. He was pulled late in the third quarter in favor of sophomore Nick Schuessler.

    Marshawn Williams out for season

Virginia Tech running back Marshawn Williams will miss the rest of the season and all of spring practice after tearing the ACL in his left knee, head athletic trainer Mike Goforth announced Tuesday.

Williams suffered the injury in Saturday's 17-16 win at Duke. The true freshman had missed one game earlier this season because of a right ankle sprain but was the Hokies' leading rusher in 2014, tallying 475 yards on 124 carries in nine games.

    ACC commish: Why not eight?

ACC commissioner John Swofford thinks eight teams would be an ideal number for a college football playoff.

Swofford, speaking at a Wednesday luncheon at the Durham (N.C.) Sports Club, said eight, "in terms of the number of teams, would probably be ideal" for a playoff, according to the Durham Herald-Sun.

"I don't think all the controversy's going to go away," Swofford said of the four-team College Football Playoff, according to the newspaper. "You have four teams that get a chance to play for the national championship, which is twice as many as before, but whoever's fifth or sixth is not going to be happy. There will be some conferences that won't have a team in the playoff."

Swofford is a member of the College Football Playoff management committee.

"I expect an 8-team playoff increasingly to be a topic of conversation, but each FBS conference would want to take the temperature of its membership on something as significant as this," American commissioner Mike Aresco told ESPN. "There are real concerns such as the academic calendar and the increased demands on our student-athletes. The details of an 8-team playoff also would be a major issue."

No. 3 Florida State struggles again, still edges BC on late field goal

Quarterback Jameis Winston trotted onto the water-logged field at Doak Campbell Stadium with aspirations of a second consecutive national championship on the line. The top-ranked Seminoles were in a dogfight, again, and needed their Heisman winner to make a play.

    He made several.

Winston led Florida State (No. 3 CFP, No. 1 AP) 66 yards to put Roberto Aguayo in position for a 26-yard field goal with three seconds remaining, and the Seminoles remained perfect with a 20-17 victory over Boston College on Saturday.

Dye leads Clemson to 28-0 win over Panthers

Clemson quarterback Cole Stoudt was glad for two things against Georgia State -- the victory and the boost of confidence it gave the Tigers heading into their biggest game of the year.

The Tigers (8-3) bounced back from their loss to Georgia Tech last week with a 28-0 win over Georgia State on Saturday. The club had been reeling, particularly on offense, after the 28-6 loss to the Yellow Jackets a week ago. Besides scoring its fewest points in seven years, Clemson (No. 22 CFP) again lost freshman quarterback standout Deshaun Watson to injury.

Louisville holds on, sends Notre Dame to third straight loss

    - Louisville didn't panic when Notre Dame, aided by a 61-yard punt return, scored two quick touchdowns early in the third quarter to take the lead.

The Cardinals answered with a pair of touchdowns of their own, stopped Notre Dame at the 9-yard line and avoided overtime when Notre Dame's Kyle Brindza missed a 32-yard field goal attempt as the Cardinals held on for a 31-28 victory Saturday.

FSU survives four INTs by Jameis Winston to extend win streak to 28

Florida State was again far from perfect.

And still ended up with another flawless record.

Seemingly playing with fire game after game, the Seminoles (No. 3 CFP, No. 1 AP) rallied for a 24-19 victory over rival Florida in Will Muschamp's final game as the Gators' coach.

No. 16 Georgia Tech pulls out wild OT win over No. 9 Georgia

Georgia Tech's players danced on the "G" in the middle of Sanford Stadium, snapped off keepsake twigs from the storied hedges surrounding the field and frolicked with their band and a small contingent of gold-clad fans.

After 13 mostly frustrating years against their biggest rival -- and having survived a game filled with bizarre plays -- the No. 16 Yellow Jackets weren't going to shortchange this celebration.

Harrison Butker kicked a career-long 53-yard field goal on the final play of regulation Saturday, and D.J. White picked off a pass in overtime to preserve Georgia Tech's 30-24 victory over Georgia (No. 9 CFP, No. 8 AP).

Gerod Holliman seals 44-40 win with NCAA record-tying 14th INT

At first glance, the midfield shoving match between players from Louisville and Kentucky appeared to be nothing more than typical animosity between fierce in-state rivals.

Then Cardinals coach Bobby Petrino and Wildcats assistant Daniel Berezowitz squared off in one scuffle.

"I just watched it get escalated," Petrino said after the Cardinals' 44-40 victory Saturday, "and then I turned around and it was going on in another part of the field. The number one thing we needed to do was get them separated."

Wayne Gallman rushes for 191 as Tigers end 5-game slide vs. rival

Clemson (No. 21 CFP, No. 23 AP) stopped the countdown on its losing streak to South Carolina. Now, the Tigers are looking to a new countdown to how many more Palmetto Bowl victories they might achieve behind freshmen Deshaun Watson, tailback Wayne Gallman and receiver Artavis Scott.

"How about that?'' Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris said. "You got young guys making a lot of plays out there. It says the future is definitely bright.''

Watson threw for 269 yards and ran for two touchdowns, playing on a torn ACL coach Dabo Swinney said he hurt two days before last week's game against Georgia State.

Gallman gained 191 yards and a touchdown and Scott took two short inside passes long distance for scores and finished with 185 yards rushing in the 35-17 victory over the rival Gamecocks (6-6) on Saturday.

FSU holds off Georgia Tech to win ACC; eyes CFP spot next

In Jimbo Fisher's mind there is no doubt that Florida State belongs in the College Football Playoff.

"There ain't no decision to be made -- the decision just got made," Fisher said during a postgame celebration while Seminoles fans roared in approval.

Florida State has made its case to play for a second straight national championship, finishing the season unbeaten as Jameis Winston threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns, and the Seminoles (No. 4 CFP, No. 2 AP) held off Georgia Tech (No. 11 CFP, No. 12 AP) 37-35 Saturday night to win their third consecutive ACC championship.
