Cook rushes for 266 yards in No. 11 Florida State win

With rain pelting Doak Campbell Stadium during pregame warm-ups, Florida State running back Dalvin Cookfigured he was going to see plenty of carries during Saturday's game against South Florida.

The rain ended up subsiding before kickoff but Cook ended up having one of the best rushing performances in school history. The sophomore rushed for 266 yards on 30 carries with three touchdowns in the 11th-ranked Seminoles 34-14 victory.

No. 11 Clemson holds off Louisville with closing interception

Clemson players chose to focus more on the result of their performance against Louisville rather than how it looked, a wise choice considering things were sometimes hard to look at.

The mission now for the No. 11 Tigers is building on the many good things that worked in their 20-17 escape of the Cardinals on Thursday night.

No. 9 Florida State beats Boston College behind shutdown defense

Florida State quarterback Everett Golson escaped not one, but two defenders who had a chance to sack him for a first-half safety.

It was the closest Boston College came to scoring.

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey returned a fourth-quarter fumble 36 yards for a touchdown, and No. 9 Florida State's defense shut down the Eagles in a 14-0 victory Friday night.

Shaquille Powell, defense help Duke beat No. 20 Georgia Tech

Shaquille Powell did the power running for Duke. No. 20 Georgia Tech and its triple-option offense couldn't get anything going.

Powell ran for three touchdowns and the Blue Devils dominated one of the nation's top rushing teams in a 34-20 victory Saturday.

No. 12 Clemson drops No. 6 Notre Dame behind late 2-point try stop

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney learned plenty about his 12th-ranked Tigers on Saturday night, qualities he believes make them hard to beat.

Deshaun Watson threw two touchdown passes, ran for a third score and 12th-ranked Clemson withstood No. 6 Notre Dame's second-half rally for a 24-22 victory.

No. 11 Florida State hangs on to beat Wake Forest

Dalvin Cook made it look easy for No. 11 Florida State against Wake Forest once again. After he was hurt, things got awfully tough for the Seminoles.

Their 24-16 victory over the pesky Demon Deacons on Saturday wasn't secure until Tyler Hunter's diving interception in the end zone with 21 seconds to play, and coach Jimbo Fisher was left hoping his team can develop a stronger killer instinct.

Watson throws for 3 TDs in No. 5 Clemson's 34-17 victory

Deshaun Watson finally had the performance many had expected from the Heisman Trophy candidate all season.

The Clemson quarterback passed for three touchdowns and a season-best 420 yards, helping the fifth-ranked Tigers roll over Boston College's top-ranked defense for a 34-17 victory Saturday night.

Everett Golson's 3 scores lead No. 11 Florida State to win

Early in the season, Jimbo Fisher could understand if his Florida State team was a little tentative and tight during the first half. But at halftime of Saturday's game against Louisville with the Seminoles trailing 7-6, his patience was starting to wear thin.

With five touchdowns in six second-half drives, the message was received.

Behind 372 yards passing and three touchdowns from Everett Golson along with Dalvin Cook's fourth 100-yard game of the season, the 11th-ranked Seminoles broke it open in the third quarter en route to a 41-21 win over the Cardinals at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Miami overrun by No. 6 Clemson in blowout

The loudest cheers from the Miami fans came in the second quarter, many of them even thinking the moment merited a standing ovation.

It was for a punt to the 1-yard line.

That was the reality Saturday during what became the worst loss in the program's 90-year history. QuarterbackBrad Kaaya departed in the second quarterwith what was likely a concussion, and No. 6 Clemsonwound up embarrassing Miami 58-0 in a game that could doom whatever chance embattled coach Al Golden had of keeping his job much longer.

Williams leads North Carolina past No. 23 Pitt

At a January team meeting, the North Carolina Tar Heels aired their grievances and dealt with their issues after a frustrating season.

They decided the finger-pointing and in-fighting had to end for them to stop being considered perennial underachievers. The Tar Heels look as if they are ready to leave that label behind.

Marquise Williams threw two long touchdown passes and North Carolina beat No. 23 Pittsburgh 26-19 on Thursday night in a matchup of Atlantic Coast Conference upstarts.

Deshaun Watson, No. 3 Clemson stay perfect

Dabo Swinney isn't spending much time thinking of where third-ranked Clemson will be in this week's first College Football Playoff standings.

No, the coach is pushing Deshaun Watson and that humming-along offense to focus on the first step to get there: winning the ACC division race.

Watson accounted for six touchdowns and the Tigers put up a second straight big score on the road in Saturday's 56-41 win at NC State.

Miami uses wild 8-lateral kickoff return for TD to upset No. 22 Duke

The Miami players kept chucking the ball back and forth, trying to stay upright, to somehow keep the game going just long enough to make something magical happen.

    And then it did.

Call it a Miami miracle. Even if it's one that's going to be vigorously debated for a long time.

Corn Elder took the Hurricanes' eighth lateral of a wild final kickoff return back for a touchdown to give Miami an unbelievable 30-27 victory over No. 22 Duke on Saturday night.

Clemson clamps down on Florida State to clinch berth in ACC title game

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney put on a slideshow for his team this week with pictures of the College Football Playoff title site in Arizona and the White House, a privilege reserved for national champions.

"The best is yet to come," he said.

The Tigers (No. 1 CFP, No. 3 AP), who landed atop the first CFP rankings this week, took a huge step toward the playoffs with their 23-13 victory over the Seminoles (No. 16 CFP, No. 17 AP).

Sean Maguire rallies No. 16 Florida State past NC State

No quarterback in college football might have had as roller-coaster a week as Florida State's Sean Maguire.

After finding out Thursday that he wouldn't be starting against NC State, Maguire came off the bench to rally the Seminoles (No. 16 CFP, No. 19 AP) to a 34-17 victory.

Deshaun Watson, No. 1 Clemson romp past Wake Forest

Deshaun Watson keeps piling up numbers and No. 1 Clemson continues winning. It's a formula the Tigers plan to use all the way to the college football playoffs.

Watson had another huge day, throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another to lead Clemson to a 33-13 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday.

    Florida State coasts by Chattanooga

After struggling for most of the season, Florida State's offense is hitting its stride.

The Seminoles (No. 14 CFP, No. 16 AP) had their most efficient game of the season on Saturday, scoring on eight straight drives in a 52-13 win over Chattanooga in their home finale.

North Carolina spoils Frank Beamer's finale in OT

North Carolina defensive end Mikey Bart started celebrating too soon. Marquise Williams made sure his Tar Heels were able to celebrate at all.

Williams hit Quinshad Davis with a 5-yard pass in overtime, and the Tar Heels (No. 17 CFP, No. 12 AP) spoiled coach Frank Beamer's final home game at Virginia Tech with a 30-27 victory on Saturday. And they did it after blowing a 14-point lead in the last three minutes of regulation.

No. 14 UNC beats rival NC State 45-34 for 11th straight win

North Carolina coach Larry Fedora spent all season dangling two goals in front of his players: an Atlantic Coast Conference division title as well as a mythical state championship by sweeping their in-state opponents.

A week after accomplishing the first, the No. 14 Tar Heels took care of the second with a dominating start on the road against a longtime nearby rival.

Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan ran for touchdowns in a 35-point first quarter, helping UNC beat North Carolina State 45-34 on Saturday for its 11th straight win.
