An inside look at fall camp with Florida State

The sun is just starting to peer over the horizon when Jimbo Fisher wheels his mammoth, black Chevrolet Silverado Z71 truck, complete with a menacing grille in the front and camouflage stripes down each side, into a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru for a cup of coffee.

It's a morning ritual for the eighth-year Florida State head coach as he makes the 30-minute commute down Thomasville Road to campus. He orders his cup two-thirds full because he hates lids and doesn't want to spill coffee all over himself. The same woman is usually waiting on him at the window with his coffee already made exactly how he wants it when he pulls up.

Bryant shines in debut as No. 5 Clemson beats Kent St 56-3

Clemson coaches insist the Tigers success is about more than just a few individual stars. Just because they sent their quarterback, leading receiver and leading rusher to the NFL after winning the national championship does not mean Clemson cannot get back to the playoff for a third straight season.

New Tigers starting quarterback Kelly Bryant stepped into his new role with 236 yards passing and a touchdown and 77 yards rushing in his first start to lead No. 5 Clemson (1-0) to a 56-3 victory over Kent State on Saturday.

    Rosier's 3 TDs lift No. 18 Miami past Bethune-Cookman 41-13

Miami quarterback Malik Rosier has spent his life hearing two different pronunciations of his last name, some saying it with an "er" at the end and others with an "eer."

    He doesn't have a preference.

And if he keeps playing like he did in Miami's opener Saturday, people will know his name anyway.

Rosier threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns, Mark Walton rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns and the 18th-ranked Hurricanes beat Bethune-Cookman 41-13.

No. 16 Louisville overcomes mistakes to beat Purdue 35-28

Lamar Jackson's sequel might not have been as flashy as his Heisman Trophy-winning start last season.

It was every bit as effective.

Jackson finished with 485 total yards, two touchdown passes and led two late scoring drives on opening night to help No. 16 Louisville escape with a 35-28 victory over Purdue in Indianapolis on Saturday night.

QB Kelly Bryant, DE Austin Bryant steer Clemson past Auburn\

Clemson's new starting quarterback had an easy way for the third-ranked Tigers to keep winning the next several years -- recruit more Bryants.

Kelly Bryant, Clemson's first-year starter, ran for two touchdowns after a scary hit knocked him to the ground and defensive end Austin Bryanthad four of the Tigers' 11 sacks in a 14-6 victory over No. 13 Auburn on Saturday night.

Jackson's huge day lifts No. 17 Louisville past UNC 47-35

Lamar Jackson shrugged off preseason questions about his chances of becoming only the second two-time Heisman Trophy winner, saying it wasn't a focus when he won it last year, nor would it be this fall.

That approach is working just fine, too.

Jackson accounted for 525 total yards and six touchdowns to help No. 17 Louisville pull away late and beat North Carolina 47-35 on Saturday, giving him more than 1,000 yards of total offense in two games.

Jackson replaces Darnold as Heisman fave at Westgate

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson moved in front of USC quarterback Sam Darnold and is now the favorite to win his second straight Heisman Trophy at the Westgate Las SuperBook.

Darnold began the season as the favorite at 9-2, with Jackson and Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield behind him at 10-1.

Jackson accounted for 525 yards of offense and six touchdowns in Louisville's 47-35 win over North Carolina on Saturday. He leapfrogged Mayfield and Darnold and heads into a showdown with defending national champion Clemson as the favorite at 9-5. Clemson opened as 3.5-point road favorite over Louisville in the upcoming weekend's showcase game.

No. 3 Clemson blows out Jackson and No. 14 Louisville, 47-21

Kelly Bryant had time to read the defense, allowing the Clemson quarterback to make good decisions and crisp throws. Heisman Trophy-winning counterpart Lamar Jackson didn't get that same luxury for Louisville.

That stark difference paid off with a decisive victory for the third-ranked Tigers.

While Clemson held Jackson in check for most of the game, Bryant accounted for three touchdowns as the Tigers routed No. 14 Louisville 47-21 on Saturday night in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown.

No. 16 Virginia Tech beats East Carolina 64-17 to reach 3-0

Virginia Tech made everything look easy, from its young quarterback connecting downfield with his go-to veteran to a defense that spent three quarters shutting down just about everything.

Redshirt freshman Josh Jackson threw for 372 yards and five touchdowns -- three to Cam Phillips -- to help the 16th-ranked Hokies beat East Carolina 64-17 on Saturday, giving them a 3-0 start for the first time since 2011.

Rosier threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score and Miami shut down Duke 31-6 on Friday night.
