    Miami planning new practice field

Miami is trying to get its football team a lighted practice field and other upgraded facilities.

The school will unveil what it calls the Football Victory Fund later this week. It's a $7 million project that will allow for the construction of an artificial turf practice facility, a new dining area for Miami's 400 athletes and four cold-water recovery pools that school officials say are "necessary for the hot and humid climate of South Florida."

Al Golden: Still in rebuilding mode

When Miami was off to its unbeaten start, coach Al Golden made it very clear that the process of turning the Hurricanes back into contenders was far from over.

Two losses later, Golden's stance hasn't changed. In fact, he feels the task of rebuilding can finally begin in earnest.

"We're still trying to build it," Golden said Monday. "We're still trying to get it right. We're still trying to develop depth. I know no one wanted to listen to me five, six, seven weeks ago. We're not back. We're building.

    Jameis Winston part of investigation

Florida State freshman quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Jameis Winston is part of an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault complaint filed with the Tallahassee Police Department in December 2012.

Winston's attorney, Tim Jansen, said police contacted him in February 2013, but no charges were filed and Winston never has been interviewed by police.

Tajh Boyd sets record, launches Clemson past Georgia Tech in rout

Tajh Boyd wasn't going to let some bumps and bruises spoil his final season, no matter how sore his shoulder might be come morning.

Boyd threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns to break Philip Rivers' Atlantic Coast Conference career record in No. 8 Clemson's 55-31 victory over Georgia Tech on Thursday night. Boyd threw a major scare into Tigers coaches, teammates and the 75,324 fans at Death Valley when he remained on the turf in pain at the end of the third quarter with what the school said was a left collarbone injury.

    Jameis Winston's role decided soon

The state attorney investigating Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston's role in an alleged sexual assault said his office could decide within the next two weeks whether to pursue criminal charges against the Heisman Trophy candidate.

William Meggs, state attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit in Tallahassee, Fla., said his office has interviewed several witnesses the past two days, after Tallahassee police referred the case to his office Wednesday.

"We are making interesting progress," Meggs said. "I think we can get to a point where we can make a decision by next week or the week after."

    Winston lawyer concerned by talk

The lawyer for Florida State's Jameis Winston criticized State Attorney Willie Meggs on Sunday for his public comments about the ongoing sexual assault investigation tied to the Seminoles' quarterback and for how the prosecutor has handled the probe.

Tim Jansen released a statement expressing concerns that Meggs has made "extrajudicial statements" about the investigation during media interviews. Jansen accused Meggs of addressing a confidential law enforcement investigation and inferring that witnesses have been affected by "attorneys and collusion."

Jansen added that, "We respect the immense power Mr. Meggs has in his investigative process and pray that he will objectively analyze the facts as he finds them, refrain from further extrajudicial public comment, and take all necessary steps to ensure that this matter comes to a quick resolution.

    Alleged FSU victim speaks out

The attorney for the accuser in the sexual assault investigation involving Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston said she was told that her client's life could "be made miserable" if she pursued charges but that contrary to reports the woman did not decide to walk away from the case.

The family of the accuser issued a statement to the Tampa Bay Times that outlined attorney Patricia Carroll's interactions with police. The statement says that recent media reports compelled the woman and her family to make the statement.

One of those reports outlined an email from City Manager Anita Favors Thompson to the mayor and city officials saying that the accuser "changed her mind and did not wish to prosecute." But Carroll said Wednesday that the woman was trying to get on with her life after it became apparent the Tallahassee Police Department was not seriously investigating the case. TPD did not respond to calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Test links Winston's DNA to accuser

A DNA analysis completed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Tuesday confirmed that DNA provided by Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston matched the sample taken from the underwear of the woman who has accused him of sexual battery.

According to the DNA analysis report, a copy of which was viewed by ESPN.com on Wednesday, the Florida state crime lab determined the chance of the DNA in the woman's underwear being a match for someone other than Winston was one in 2.2 trillion.

CB Kyle Fuller out 4-6 weeks

Virginia Tech Hokies senior cornerback Kyle Fuller will miss four to six weeks after he had surgery to repair a core muscle injury, the school announced Thursday.

Fuller, who had the procedure Tuesday, is expected to make a full recovery, but this could end his college career.

The Hokies have a bye week before ending the regular season at Virginia, and it's possible Fuller could also miss the Hokies' bowl game.

Jameis Winston, No. 2 Florida State rip Gators to stay unbeaten

Kelvin Benjamin shook off one tackler and then three more, bullying his way into the end zone to finish off Florida State's most impressive play on a day filled with them.

Benjamin was clearly a mismatch -- just like the game.

Jameis Winston threw three touchdown passes to Benjamin, and No. 2 Florida State moved a step closer to playing for the national championship with a 37-7 victory against rival Florida on Saturday.

Duke beats UNC to clinch spot in ACC title game

On Saturday, the No. 24 Blue Devils made the once-thinkable goal a reality -- complete with Cutcliffe being carried off the field as his players celebrated with Duke fans in their rival's stadium.

Ross Martin kicked a 27-yard field goal with 2:22 left for a 27-25 win at North Carolina, clinching the Coastal Division championship with the Blue Devils' eighth straight victory. Duke faces No. 2 Florida State in next weekend's ACC title game in Charlotte, where the heavy underdog Blue Devils will go for their first league crown since 1989.
