Dame, CJ, George or Butler, Aminu and Nurkic, with Turner and Harkless off the bench? Yeah, put me down for that.
Who says no? CHI Gets: Okafor, Harkless, Ezeli, 3 Portland 1sts PHI Gets: Crabbe, Pondexter NOP Gets: Davis POR Gets: Butler, R.Lopez, Henderson, Jones Lillard / McCollum McCollum / Henderson Butler / Turner Aminu / Jones / Vonleh Nurkic / Lopez
Millsap makes no sense. Not only can he walk in FA but we might not even make the playoffs with him now that Boogie's in Nola. Also, are we really cool paying Paul the super max well into his mid-to-late 30's?
That’s why several teams, the Celtics included, have inquired about Butler’s availability. While the Bulls haven’t set any specific parameters, league executives believe they are seeking some combination of high draft picks and young veterans (players with experience who are either near the end of their rookie deals or have team-friendly contracts) just to consider moving Butler. http://www.csnne.com/boston-celtics...sking-picks-young-veterans-trade-jimmy-butler We may not be able to offer a high draft pick, but we can definitely offer a young veteran on a team friendly contract in Harkless. And I would think three firsts in a loaded class has serious value as well.
Butler Advantages: FG%, TS%, ASTper36, Steals, FT Rate (Doubles George), Turnovers (less than George), PER, OBPM, DBPM, BPM, George Advantages: 3pt%
If three non-premium first round picks and something (added player Indiana likes/Ezeli's non-guaranteed contract) really is enough to get Paul George (very skeptical about this, regardless of what David Aldridge says), then my ideal scenario would be to give up the three picks and whatever for George and then try to entice Chicago to deal Butler for McCollum. Lillard/Butler/George would be an incredible 1-2-3 with plenty enough defense to survive Lillard being sub-standard. Nurkic adds to the core, it's the foundation of a viable contender, in my opinion.
I don't know but I don't think so. Keep in mind it was Paul that gave him his first opportunity. And even though it didn't turn out well I believe he has some pretty fond memories here. We as fans spent many years blowing him as a GM telling him how great he was when maybe he wasn't. He has a lot friends here etc. The other thing is, Portland is a Western Conference team. They are not a team in their division and conference so they won't be competing with them in that sense. I think it would be irresponsible by anyone to turn down a great deal involving players in picks especially first rounders if it gives you a jump start in a rebuild. One thing that concerns me about PG. His past leg injury. Will he have issues in the future? I'd focus on Butler.
I got tickets to the Blazers next home game. Ugh the things I'd do to be able to cheer as Mark Mason announces Jimmy Butler's name in the starting lineup.
It's tough between PG and Butler... butler brings that defense we desperately need - so I would give him the edge... but PG is pure dynamic. Can't really go wrong with either - but you do take a little bit of the load off of Nurkic if you get Butler, which might be better in the long run.
I'm not going to get my hopes up about getting Butler or George. Sounds too good to be true. And as a fellow Blazers fan, I am used to getting my hopes pissed on. I would love for either to happen though. I would send all of our picks, Crabbe and Ezeli's expiring for either of those guys. We would instantly get a lot better. There is no doubt about that. I'm just trying to personally downplay the idea of it so I don't get pissy when it doesn't happen.
So if we do Chi Gets: Okafor, Harkless, Vonleh, Ezeli, 3 firsts Phi Gets: Crabbe, Napier We Get: Butler, Lopez, Henderson Then do we try to go after something like this? BKN Gets: Leonard BOS Gets: Aminu ATL Gets: Zeller or Johnson (expirings), 2018 BOS 1st, 2019 POR 1st, 2021 POR 1st, Future BKN 2nd POR Gets: Millsap We'd have: Lillard / McCollum McCollum / Henderson Butler / Turner Millsap / Davis Nurkic / Lopez Talk about an infusion of defense. Butler, Millsap, Nurkic, Lopez, and Henderson. Wowza.
I have to agree with you on this one. Chicago management has fucked up so badly. I can't imagine a player on their roster trying to resign with them. They kind of screwed themselves for years.
True. I guess the league was a bit soured on Cousins. He is a talent but a bit of a head case.I think Sacramento could have got more for him. But you Never know..
