He's played like doo-doo since he's come back from injury, and word is out of Utah is that they're concerned about his long term health. Given Portland's history with big man, they had better do their due diligence on Favors if they decide to pursue. Personally, I'm not convinced.
Agreed. They may want to wait until after the season to trade him anyways which could work out better for us. The thing is these options to get players who are near-allstar level are few and far between. Of course there is risk involved otherwise there would be no chance to get them at all. If we don't move up I could give up our pick and CLE pick. If we move up though then that is too much. Of course you also make sure he can pass a physical or rescind the deal but my overall bigger point is at some point you have to take a gamble if you are small-market team.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/245003/Nets-Drop-Asking-Price-For-Brook-Lopez Lopez is available for a first and a second...
Nurk isn't nearly enough to turn things around. Adding Lopez would be huge, particularity if the Nets are willing to take one of our bad contracts. Ezili, Myers, Quaterman plus a first and second round pick could work. They have more trade assets and clear $10 million to spend this summer.
We cannot get Lopez because we cannot send Crabbe there and there is no other way to match salaries unless we send three players. Leonard, Aminu, Ezeli and a pick would work though. I would do that for this package. He offer something completely different than Nurkic. Leonard + Ezeli + Davis and Memphis first. This would effectively mean that we got Brook Lopez and Nurkic for Mason Plumlee, as I don't consider the other three players as 'trade assets' .
You don't have to include Davis in trade, and I doubt the Nets want him anyway. Ezili and Meyers is almost a legal trade, but throw in a guy like Quaterman and it's legit. I have a feeling getting the Nets to take on Meyers would probably be next impossible. If they show interest, you got to do the deal to get out from having to put Meyers on the floor.
Turner still exists. I doubt they'd want him, but Turner/Ezeli is more than enough to match salaries.
That's kind of the problem with trying to get someone with a big contract--Portland would need the other team to take some of their larger contracts (or one huge one) and the only large contracts Portland has that aren't albatrosses are Lillard and McCollum.

This sounds like Sacramento and Boogie. Why would you give up on a 23-year-old with his numbers? Don't think he is worth the max you will have to give him?
