MVP: Steve Nash COY: Jerry Sloan DPOY: Marcus Camby ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
MVP: Kobe Bryant COY: Avery Johnson DPOY:Kevin Garrnet (could of been Okafor) ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Monta Ellis 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki - anyone leading a team to a near 70-win season will be voted MVP by the media. Others, like Kobe, deserve a look, but in my mind the media will likely vote Dirk the winner. COY: Avery Johnson - for a very similar reason to Dirk. Yes Jerry Sloan transformed the Jazz this season, getting them a comfortable playoff berth, but that does not compare in the media's mind to a 70-win season for Dallas. Again, I think it should be a lot closer than it probably will be. ROY: Brandon Roy - need I really say more? Okay, he leads all rookies in points ,minutes per game and assists per game, is fourth in steals per game an double doubles, leads in efficiency and is seventh in rebounds per game too. Enough? DPOY: Marcus Camby really does deserve it with 3+ blocks and 1+ steals per game. KG and Shane Battier, too, areup there, but do not deserve to win it quite as much as Camby, though it could be a close vote. MIP: A few names come to mind when I think about this award. My heart says Luol Deng, as I can just about call him a fellow countryman (not every day when you're a Brit), but his jump from solid performer to star player does not quite justify an MIP award. Kevin Martin, too, has made a similar jump, but has done it from just below where Deng was last year, to just above where Deng is this year, so he has given himself a fighting chance. However, the media tends to like players such as Monta Ellis or Andris Biedrins, who have come from a small performer last year to a solid to good performer or better this season, so they would be my top two picks. It will be a difficult decision, and I personally would prefer Biedrins to get the pick, as he came from virtually nothing last season to a night-in-night-out double double threat this season, but the media will most likely choose Ellis, as he has had more memorable performances and highlight reel plays. 6th man: Leandro Barbosa - 18 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds off the bench. Period. EOY: Bryan Colangelo - to transform the Raptors from what they were to what they are is a fantastic achievement and one which should be rewarded by the League.
Sorry guys, I can't agree with any of yours. MVP - Jason Kidd COY - Lawrence Frank ROY - Marcus Williams DPOY - Jason Collins MIP - Bostjan Nachbar 6th Man - Bostjan Nachbar Bias? I think not. Well I feel better now, so I might as well put a list based on your opinions. MVP - Kobe Bryant COY - Avery Johnson ROY - Brandon Roy DPOY - Marcus Camby MIP - Kevin Martin 6th Man - Leandro Barbosa
These are predictions, right? Ok ... MVP: Dirk COY: Sam Mitchel ROY: Roy DPOY: no one stands out ... I guess I'll go with Marcus Camby MIP: Kevin Martin 6th man: Leandro Barbosa (funny how all the strong 6th man candidates have actually started a bunch of games)
<div class="quote_poster">AllNet Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Very surprised by the lack of selections for Sam Mitchell. He has done a very good job this year in helping Toronto to their first ever division title. MVP: Dirk Nowitzki COY: Sam Mitchell DPOY: Tim Duncan ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa On the subject of Kobe. He may well be the best scorer in the league but you don't give the MVP to a guy who's team is barely above 500 and in the 7th spot. Not matter how good this conference is. I fail to see how Kobe is more valuable than anybody else. Even without him they would be poor. Not much difference than they are now. They are poor either way. Yes they have had injury problems but what did doesn't? there isn't a better scorer than Kobe in the NBA, does that mean he is the best? highly debatable. I would still rank Tim Duncan ahead of Kobe in terms of best overall player. Dirk deserves the MVP for the season he and the Mavericks have had. You must reward the team who have had a record breaking season. He has been a big part of that.</div> There's a big difference between getting a lottery pick or being a seventh seed. The Lakers have been healthy in the second half of the Season but still struggle due to team defense problems, etc. Media Predictions: MVP: Dirk COY: Jerry Sloan ROY: Roy DPOY: Camby MIP: Martin 6th Man: Barbosa
mvp- Dirk COY- Avery ROY- B. Roy DPOY- Marcus Camby MIP- DRE IGUODALA (yes I am biased) 6th Man- Barbosa

MVP: Dirk Nowitzki COY: Jerry Sloan ROY: Brandon Roy DPOY: Marcus Camby MIP: Kevin Martin (my pick: Monta Ellis) 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo BTW, I'm tired of the bullsh*t arguement that Kobe fans provide every single time. 'Take Kobe off the Lakers, and they are in the lottery; Nash plays with Stoudamire, Marion, Bell etc. For those who obviously have no idea, The Suns are 4-12 over the past 3 seasons when Nash has missed a game)

I dont think Dirk makes his team mates better, I think they make him better, Nash makes good players even better, Kobe does what he has to do to get the win, wether its go out and score 50+, or dish out 10+ assists, I think thats an MVP. In saying all of that though, I dont think Kobe will win the award, I just think he deserves it. It will go to either Dirk or Nash.
Its almost like people are suddenly changing what the award is about, because they're so impressed by Kobe Bryant. He's an incredible player, among the leagues' best, but there's no denying the importance of team success with the MVP award. The Lakers just haven't achieved that level of success the past two seasons. Even Kobe realizes that: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was asked if he's pulling himself out of the running for Most Valuable Player. "Yeah," Bryant said. "I'm Al Gore-ing myself." Bryant, who was getting some support for MVP after a March scoring spree, doesn't believe the Lakers (40-38) have a good enough record for him to be considered. "I don't think so," Bryant said. "I'd like to one day be fortunate enough to win the MVP and be on a team that has one of the best records in the NBA to do so."</div> Link
MVP: Steve Nash COY: Nellie ROY: Brandon Roy DPOY: Shane Battier MIP: Monta Ellis 6th man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
Just curious, is Luol Deng a possibility for Most Improved? I am not sure how they decide what goes into a Most Improved, but he certainly has for the Bulls at least.
MVP: Steve Nash COY: Avery Johnson ROY: Brandon Roy DPOY: Bruce Bowen? MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki--> It's about time. When Nash and Finley were playing for the Mavs, people said Nowitzki isn't a MVP because he gets "too much help" from others players. Now Nash is gone and the Mavs are stronger than ever. Plus, don't forget that, at a height of 7'0 he's shooting .500 from the field, .412from downtown and .902 from the line. DOPY: hmm....tough one...can't really say, but I'd go with the usual suspects: Bowen, Wallace, Camby, Garnett. ROY: Brandon Roy--> Almost as clear as Chris Paul last year. COY: Jerry Sloan --> Who would have thought before the season, that Utah will (probalby) be 4th seed in the West?? MIP: David Lee--> I know he's *just* a sophomore and therefore it's not hard to improve your stats from rookie year, but he deserves it. Of course so does Kevin Martin. 6th Man:--> Leandro Brbosa
MVP: Steve Nash COY: Avery Johnson DPOY: Marcus Camby ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: David Lee 6th: Leandro Barbosa
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki COY: Sam Mitchell ROY: Brandon Roy DPOY: Up for grabs MIP: Kevin Martin 6th man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
What I'm predicting will happen, not necessarily what I agree with. MVP: Dirk Nowitzki COY: Sam Mitchell DPOY: Marcus Camby ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa
MVP: Kobe Bryant COY: Avery Johnson DPOY: Tim Duncan ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa __________________
