YOUR PICKS AFTER THE LAST POST ARE AS FOLLOWS MVP: Dirk beating out Kobe COY: Sloan beating out Avery ROY: All Roy for ROY DPOY: Camby beating out Garnett MIP: K-Mart #2 beating out Monta Ellis 6th Man: All Barbosa EOY: All Bryan Colangelo
COY is so obviously going to be Avery. If he doesn't win, there should be an inquiry. No way does a team be that dominant in the regular season and not get a COY. I think Dirk deserves MVP, BUT I wonder how much of the new Dirk is a result of Avery's coaching.

It normally goes to a coach on an up and coming team, or on a top team who winning so many games is a surprise. Dallas winning this many games isn't a surprise to me. Avery is a top 3 coach in the NBA in my opinion but I will be surprised If he wins COY purely because of the history of It and the way It is decided.
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki COY: Sam Mitchell ROY: Brandon Roy DPOY: Marcus Camby MIP: Monta Ellis 6th man: Leandro Barbosa EOY: Bryan Colangelo
MVP: Steve Nash or Kobe COY: Avery Johnson DPOY:Tim Duncan or Camby ROY: Brandon Roy MIP: Kevin Martin 6th Man: Leandro Barbosa

He's an incredible player, among the leagues' best, but there's no denying the importance of team success with the MVP award.</div> Exactly my thoughts. By the reasoning of Kobe supporters, Michael Jordan should've won about 13 MVP trophies, cuz he was the most talented player in the league during his career. But that didn't happen, because other players accomplished more during the season with their teams. When Mike won, the Bulls were the best or among the very best in the league. Making the 7th seed in the West just doesn't cut it.

That would be a funny award. As if Kobe's ego isn't big enough, now we'll give him the "Best Player" trophy every year. Most Valuable has a dignified ring to it. We can nitpick at the exact meaning, but it comes down to who the voters think is the player with the most value. We can argue if that means to his team or to the league, but that player's talent is given high praise. Maybe the controversy is in who votes for the award. It's the media that's always scrutinizing the definition of the award, yet they're the ones who vote on it. Give the coaches a say, or even give the fans a partial vote.
MVP: Steve Nash ROY: Brandon Roy 6TH Man: Leandro Barbosa DPOY: Tim Duncan COY: Jeff Van Gundy MIP: Monta Ellis EOY: Bryan Colangelo
MVP: Dirk beating Nash MIP: Kevin Martin DPOY: Marcus Camby 6th Man: Manu or Barbosa COY: Sloan or Mitchell ROY: Roy EOY: Brian Collangelo
It should have been like this. The league screwed up on the MVP, MIP and COY awards. MVP: Steve Nash MIP : Kevin Martin DPOY: Camby 6th man: Barbosa COY: Jerry Sloan EOY: Brian Calangelo

I can't believe they put Kobe on an All-Defense team when all the analysts, even Phil Jackson, and numerous other experts have been talking about how Kobe plays less than mediocre defense. Who votes for these things? Also, how on earth could anyone leave Battier off an All-Defense team. It's the second (or third) best defensive team in the league and he usually guards the opposing team's best wing player. He has guarded all 5 positions at separate times in the season. It's ridiculous how stupid the people that do the voting are. The All-NBA and All-Defense teams are a joke. The MVP is a joke.
