I agree with the first point, disagree with the second point. I agree that they are the same kind of prospect. I don’t think Ant could fetch two 1sts…right now. I’ve mentioned trading Ant for two 1sts eventually, but that’s because I expect a 24-25ppg season with solid or better efficiency with Dame off the team. Herro is probably worth a young prospect and a protected 1st right now imo.
Starting wise yes, you choose Sharpe long term. But injuries happen so keeping Simons works for me. He adds a skill the others don't........ even if it is off the bench.
You choose Sharpe because the road we've been down far too many times before is starting two undersized guards.
I’m also very interested to see if Scoot can get anything out of him. Billups and Lowry should be putting it in Scoots ear to feed Ayton early in the game to keep him engaged.
Your the one comparing protected Hart pick to Herro. Sure, Herro could for certain get two first round picks that were heavily protected and worth about the same as a 2nd round pick. Why does that matter? It would make more sense for the Blazers to get one good first round pick back.
Imo there are plenty of teams that could us Ant right now, that if two 1sts wasn’t the holdup, a trade would’ve already happened by now. But yeah, I guess we’ll agree to disagree.
The time we have to worry about this is when Scoot and Sharpe large extensions begin to kick in and payroll between Sharpe/Scoot/Ant becomes a concern. We are many years away from that. For now everyone should enjoy having 3 great young guards, especially with two of them being so RAW, young enough they can't drink, and needing scoring support as they develop for the next year or two.
Funny--I was concerned we'd 'only' get 2 first on top of Ayton. Ayton... + 2 picks C (but both kids C+) + 3 picks B (but both kids B+) + 4 picks A (and both kids A+) this opinion will self destruct in 10 seconds.
No way Cronin would trade Ant for 2 1sts. I wouldn't either and I'm not one who thinks he's a long-term fit here.
I'm more interested in getting actual prospects back. Ayton is a real tangible player with upside. I'd like another if I'm trading Dame. Jovic and Jaquez are not those guys. I'd rather trade Herro for a player plus a pick but that's just my interest.
I should’ve read farther back because I never saw this. If a bad team out there offered 2 top-20 protected 1sts that turn into multiple 2nds if they don’t convey, why take the deal?
He’d be an upgrade over Nurk. Young enough to grow with the young core. At the right price he’d someone I’d love to have on the team
