At this point, it seems like people are just coming out of the woodwork to pile on Whiteside.

Seriously, there are a lot worse comments made out there than this. I kind of look at it as if you need to spend the bandwidth trashing a guy who has been criticized his whole career for ONLY being really good because he gave you a little insight into trying to start over, get a life. He didn't kick a puppy or stiff the Salvation Army. Good lord, people. Just. Get. A. Life.

Ayton has emerged as the only true alpha on the team other than Brogdan. I've wanted a center like him since we drafted Greg Oden with the number one pick

in all seriousness, if ayton can keep this up he'll have partially recouped the loss of lamarcus—a genuine blue chipper we got nothing in return for.

Nurk and Ayton are the same kind of player. Ayton just gets paid twice as much. The suns knew what they were doing...

 

Ayton is basically Whiteside 2.0 ... Contributes way less than his stats would suggest.

I think we're stuck with him this season. Hopefully next year we can con some team into trading for him that desperately needs a center as he'll be on an expiring deal.

I pray Cronin doesn't extend him.

 

I really doubt he would. The fact that he drafted Clingan shows what he thinks of Ayton. Only way is if Clingan's knees go "greg oden" on us...

Also, I'm sure there is a team out there that would trade for Ayton, but we wouldn't get anything that good in return. It was be for expirings. Maybe a pick.

 

He still had Dame, drafted Sharpe, and re-signed Simons two weeks later. So, I'm not sure he worries about redundancy.

 

Ayton is different in that he's not an upcoming talent. And we have a better, younger player (and cheaper) behind him. Some team will pay Ayton starter money and give him a starting role.
