<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post"> I say waive Loren Woods, whether Ukic is coming or not. We get Omar Cook back either way because even if Ukic comes we still need a 3rd PG. </div> Alvin Williams is a point guard still I think. He should be rehabbed enough to play 5-10 min as the 3rd point guard with the possibilty to put in increased minutes. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Next we look into getting Steven Graham, Joey's brother. Get him in Summer League, and see if he can help as a backup. They're both hardworkers, and one hard worker might get some people more active [really the younger players, older guys won't care much], but if you have 2 guys on the team who are always putting in the work, their mentality might rub off on others.</div> Lets say Joey Graham is the first, what about Pape, Bonner, and Bosh?
I don't think you're heard about how Joey and Steve Graham work out. Yea, Bosh, Pape and Bonner try on the court or whatever, but these guys are on another level, their's no comparison. I'm talking about off the court too, not just putting effort on the court, but taking care of your body, working out etc...
i say we waive aarron williams dude is doing nothing and he has the option to terminate. we send slokar to the europe league to develop more. and try and waive lammond/or woods or something they are just dead weight for the team. we already have enough big bodies as it is.
The Graham brothers are crazy gym rats.. If we can get our hands on Steven, both of them might be able to help out Bosh and Villanueva get bigger and stronger. It's not just a fluke that Joey can bench press 450+ pounds. As for Alvin Williams, he gives us the flexibility of having two point guards on the floor at one time. He's 6-5 so he's tall enough to play the off-guard position and handle the ball. og15, waiving Loren Woods and signing Omar Cook sounds like a good idea
I'd like to see the Raps dump some dead weight to make some room on the roster (Williams, Woods, etc.). What do you guys think of signing Kennedy Winston to the summer league team? While his defense is mediocre, he has a good offensive game that could be really useful off the bench. Also adds SG depth.
We have a lot of options if it comes to signing undrafted players, because they wouldn't demand a whole lot of cash. We only have the $5.5 million MLE to spend on the free agents and our priority is to re-sign Bonner and Sow so that will take at least half of the MLE. We'll basically have about $3 million left to swing around.
There are quite abit of players that weren't drafted and are quality players. I'd be hapy signing them. They would probably turn into Marquis Daniels and so on... For some off the bench defense there's Eddie Basden, and then for players who have potential, there's quite a selection of underclassmen who declared and weren't drafted.
Winston is on the Grizzlies summer league team and Basden is on the Bulls summer league team. How about Juan Mendez? I know the Raptors brought him in for workouts at least two times. He's Canadian, and wants to play for the team, and they could use a role player like him to help on the inside. He would be similar to when JYD played for the team, an energy blue-collar player to help get the team second chance looks and clean the defensive glass.
Mendez is on Miami's summer league team, and the Raptors don't need any more PF's, we're not trying to be the Knicks.
lol but the knicks dont have a franchise player in PF unlike less....but we have one that's why we only have 3 ppl at that pos

If we happen to have an empty roster spot and steven graham is qualified as a basketball player it might be benefitial to have him around. He could improve the work ethic of the young Raptors I suppose and help guys build muscle.
I would think that Granger not wanting to come to Toronto is likely money-motivated. If he'd been picked in the lottery at 7th, I think he would have been happy because it'd mean very good money. However, at 16th and 17th, the money isn't much different (or is it the same?) and if anyone has a choice, obviously he'd want to be picked by a winning team and one where he'll likely get more playing time. Or Granger might have just been saying good stuff about his new team...
Wasn't there some article before about Granger loving Toronto, so obviously it was just with the situation that happened, choosing between Indiana who can possibly even win a championship and Toronto isn't too hard if the money is the same.
Who knows these days... maybe Granger siad he loved Toronto so he could have a higher chance of being drafted at 7th... I doubt that though, there aren't many peopel that could lie through their teeth like that.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jonathan Givony: It seems like the Raptors have shown an unusual amount of interest in you compared with other teams. Have you seen any special interest coming from their direction? Gerald Green: I have interest in all the teams that are interested in me. I don't have any favorites for any teams. It doesn't matter what team I go to. Just to be in the NBA, that's all that matters. It's a blessing. I'm not going to be like: "I want to go to this team or that team." I think it's a blessing to just be ON a team, so it really doesn't matter to me. Jonathan Givony: So whatever city, whoever picks you. Even if Toronto is a little far away from Houston, and it's kind of cold, you don't care? Gerald Green: It doesn't matter to me. Just to be in the NBA is all that matters. It's always been a dream of mine so I don't care how far away they are.</div> Interview with Green. Their's no actual evidence that he didn't want to go to TO, and in Swirk's review, he didn't even mention that, just talked about him being young. One opinion I heard though is that while Green is a better prospect that others, he's more of a long term guy. Babcock is on a 3 year contract, has 2 years left, and was already under a lot of fire from his first year, so for his job security, making moves that improve the team quicker help him more.
That pretty much slams the rumour that he didn't want to play here. He seems like a levelheaded kid who doesn't have a big head. I wasn't that mad that we didn't take Green because SG is not an immediate concern and every draft has plenty of young guards that we can grab. I sincerely hope that Babcock is not making moves to keep is job instead of building a long term team. Aside from drafting Hoffa and Graham, most of his moves seem to be towards building a team for the future.

I can tell you right now that he's better than Alston or Williams. I wouldn't be surprised if Mitchell starts Ukic before the start of the all-star break.
^ How can you tell he's better than them? Not many people have actually seen extended footage of him playing, I don't think you can say it as a certainty. I say he's better than Alvin because Alvin basically has no knees, but the call can't be made yet between him and Rafer.
Ukic is better than Alston because: 1. He is a pass-first, shoot-second kind of a guy. 2. He's 6-6 and gained 30 pounds so he's 215 pounds now, which will allow him to push around other PGs. 3. He doesn't seem to have the attitude of Rafer Alston. I agree that we will have to see him play in the NBA level to truly judge his level of play, but the three things I mentioned above alone makes him better than Alston.
