Trump's approval is improving, just in time for elections. We'll see, won't we.

No, it is something new. They are retiring in unprecedented numbers. That was my point.

Do a little research and find out how many democrats are retiring, as well.

~20 republicans, ~10 democrats. There just happen to be more republicans in congress, several in districts that went for Clinton bigly.

How long has it been since the party in power did not win the midterm elections? Way back!
I think this time though, Republicans maintain their majority. Not with the help of Oregon though, they are rather backward.

Republicans won and kept power in W's first and second elections, plus the first mid-term election. That's 3 out of the 4 elections.

Democrats won in 2006 and within 2 years, the economy was in shambles.

    NY Times sounds the alert!

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/19/business/economy/tax-overhaul-survey.html

Tax Overhaul Gains Public Support, Buoying Republicans

The tax overhaul that President Trump signed into law now has more supporters than opponents, buoying Republican hopes for this year’s congressional elections.

The growing public support for the law coincides with an eroding Democratic lead when voters are asked which party they would like to see control Congress. And it follows an aggressive effort by Republicans, backed by millions of dollars of advertising from conservative groups, to persuade voters of the law’s benefits.

That campaign has rallied support from Republicans, in particular. But in contrast with many other issues — including Mr. Trump’s job approval rating — it also appears to be winning over some Democrats. Support for the law remains low among Democrats, but it has doubled over the past two months and is twice as strong as their approval of Mr. Trump today.

There's a notable politician with worse approval ratings than Trump. Actually, all of congress does, as does the media.

Anyhow. Pelosi's is much worse. So is Chucky Schumer's and Dicky Durbin's.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/22/trumps-weak-poll-numbers-dont-tell-real-story-commentary.html

That's when the news gets better for the president, a lot better. The latest poll of polls by the Huffington Post has Schumer's approval rating at a measly 26 percent, 13 points lower than President Trump. The same poll of polls has Pelosi's approval rating just a hair better at just under 29 percent. Perhaps the only other Democrat who came close to holding the floor on the shutdown as often as Schumer and Pelosi did was Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, who holds an anemic 37 percent approval rating of his own.
