For several years now, putting a Blazer into D-League has meant that when he returns, he plays a lot for a few games before they get tired of him.

They're waking up Baldwin IV and Swanigan for temporary increased minutes. Why? To see whether all the coaching they've put into them has had any effect. Why not the rookies? Because they haven't learned enough to test whether they've learned anything.

Those were the exceptions. The last couple of times didn't fit the pattern of the last few years.

Do you have any other theory for how Swanigan (14 games, 30.3 mpg) and Baldwin (50 games, 30.1 mpg, 2 seasons) have anything left to gain from the G-League?

As Baldwin's constant advocate last season (I once said that you must be his agent), you must be disappointed that he turned out to be a clone of Connaughton, if Connaughton tried to play point guard.

Game time experience. They aren't getting that right now.

Hard to make a judgement on what he is when he hasn’t been given an actual chance.

Who’s the norm then (under Olshey)

As for Swanigan and Baldwin, they need playing time. Simons and Trent need to stick around because they’re teenagers and need to assimilate to the playbook/nba life.

Players have a chance to show the coaches what they can do pretty much every day. The reality is, 8-10 players is typically what most teams play so that leaves 5-6 players no playing time. Their job is to continue to work on their game, stay in shape, watch lots of tapes and do what the coaches ask of them to improve.

What they do in practice isn’t really relevant to anything being talked about. As a fan, I don’t see it, so how am I supposed to know what Baldwin is or isn’t?

It's not your job to know so that is irrelevant. The coaches and management are the ones that do the evaluation and determination as to what the role of a player is.

When they come back they will be right where they left at the end of the bench. To me it more they really want to put any more investment in them.

My guess is Baldwin's agent or even Baldwin himself asked to be sent down to get some playing time.

NO, it's not relevant. Now try and grow up and have an adult discussion. That is if you are even an adult as you do more whining than a newborn baby.
