Chelsea came from behind to register their first win the competition in front of a sizeable crowd at St Mary's Stadium. Omar Rowe gave Southampton the lead on the quarter-hour mark from a free-kick but within 10 minutes Chelsea were ahead. Alex Davey headed in the equaliser and Isaiah Brown scored his second goal of the campaign. Southampton came forward in search of an equaliser in the second half but midway through the period Lewis Baker's free-kick extended Chelsea's lead and two minutes from time Islam Feruz made it 4-1.
