I guess you could try to make that argument but I'd wager it's a drop in the bucket compared to how much the owners are making.

Who cares what they are making?

They get some tax breaks, and some free money from taxes, but employ hundreds of people, increasing spending, so others have to hire, and bring in revenue for the city

The NW Classic concert was at Safeco just a month or two ago.

Do you support means testing for things like say SSI? Do you think John McCain should be getting that 58K per year even though he can afford (7 houses...) life without it?

I love that this turned into a debate about weather.... with charts and graphs.

One weekend once every several years is a really lousy reason to build a hotel.

That said, Portland has a bit of a hotel boom going on right now. Not sure how many hotel rooms the All-Star game requires, or how close we were before, but the deficit is definitely shrinking.

Is it a bad reason if it makes money?

How would it possibly make money? If they had the allstar game here every couple of weeks, then sure, I'll build the hotels myself.

What a cheapskate. Hell, I gave a bum an entire dollar the other day, and I don't have 7 houses.

They don't like being called "bums". It is a derogatory term. You should be ashamed for using that. The correct term is now trash-gendered.

No, it was a bum, a nice round one. She turned her back and I put the bill in her bum crack.

Want to know the funny thing about a large outdoor sports venue. It was actually a better and probably more affordable idea the first time they thought about it. The just didn't think they could attract a team. Don't see how that would be a problem this time with NFL teams moving every five minutes and baseball expansion.

When Lewis and Clark came to Oregon in 1803, they proposed a large stadium be built where downtown is today.
