<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Saint Baller @ Apr 13 2007, 12:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Well this is meGrew up in a big sports family, 2 of my uncles went on scholarships to play ball in college. My cousin who I lived with was an avid fan of basketball, he was the person who really showed me to love the game.I've been playing ball for as long as I can remember but started taking it serious around the age of 10. I started watching ball though when I was around 6 or 7 years old, My cousin was a HUGE Mavericks fan and he got me into it and since then that's all I have been, a huge Mavs fan.Well anyways, I always played when my cousin had practice for leagues and I had a friend who I'd always go one on one with and he was pretty good at the time so we made each other better, I was around 9 or 10 at this time. Then the next year I got my friends together and we decided to make a team, it was great, made us all better. We played in our first game when I was 11, I remember that game because I was the center even though I'm not tall, but taller than the other kids my age. I would always get yelled at by my coach for shooting long range shots, I won't say I was amazing at it because I wasn't, but I shot it at a good clip for my age.. I was the center, the distraction my coach would call me, get the double teams and pass out for some one open. I wasn't happy with that because I knew what I could do, and the last game of the season, I went on fire. I had what seemed like 40 points but really just 16.When I turned 12 I moved to a new school, alot of kids I didn't know and the way to earn your name was on the court, well I earned it after months... The next year, my first year of Middle School, I didn't make the team, I was devastated and pissed off, but I couldn't blame my coach for it THAT year because I was always sick or injured. That summer I broke my collar bone, tore a tendon, and alot of injuries to my shoulder in a basketball camp fading away on a game winning shot... I think I've posted about it before on this site, but none the less I was out for 6 weeks and didnt get to play even outside. This year, my second year. I didn't make it again. I was pissed off in a determined way. 8 A-Team linemen from football made the team, I was better than all of them and players on the team complained to the coach on why I didn't make the team, he never gave a reason but with the constant barrages of complaints he made me a manager, and I got to practice, just not play games. Every practice I would show him why I should be on the team and why those 8 A-Team linemen shouldn't. I was good enough to play on B-Team or maybe even A-Team for basketball. Finally the season was ending and we were playing a new school who sucked, it was a branch off of our school so the managers got to play.I showed my coach up, in 6 minutes (1 quarter) I had 3 points (fade away 3 pointer, got fouled but no call) 4 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 assists, 2 hustle points (taking charges, diving for the ball etc.) and no fouls. This year I am determined to make the basketball team next year in high school, I'm a bit weighty but I am determined to get in shape this summer and play next year.</div>nice dude! I got to get into shape this summer as well. :no3:
I don't feel like posting my whole bio now.I'm not in shape though. Right now it's baseball season for my school, but I'm playing for an intramural basketball team in a pretty big league. while playing for my town's baseball team.Over the summer, I don't need to stay in shape. I have a good metabolism. lol

I primarily used a soccer ball, and due to my height, was able to practice on the net with great success. Even in my latter years, the space my basement gave me was a major factor in my improved dribbling. I'd be in high school dribbling around my basement, and slamming that soccer ball home.Age 10: Played basketball for the first time in a league.Age 12: Got interested in the NBA, moved to a school where people loved basketball, and in turn began playing everyday as well as working on my game alone on the local playground.Age 12: Just months after basketball became my favorite thing to do / watch, I tried out and made my first "city" team (AAU as Americans call it). That year, I was really worried about not doing well and didn't get much time. The experience was great though, as it gave me an understanding of help defense and showed me what level to aspire for.Age 13: Another few months later, I played for my school team, and even though I got virtually no playing time, my coach taught me not to be a pussy. He yelled at me and challenged me, in the end helping me more than any coach I've ever had.Age 13: 2nd year of AAU. Became a permanent starter at PG after a summer of immense playing. Inconsistent year, although I had several breakout games, including a crown jewel where I had 15 points on 6/6 shooting, a three, and two free throws to go along with upwards of 8 assists in just 25 minutes.Age 13: Playing more than I ever had, and with much confidence, I went to try out for the regional team, where I was cut for the first time in my life. I was furious, not totally motivated or anything, but angry. Age 14: Playing for my school team, I was co-captain and led my basketball squad to the finals, where we lost to the favorite. This was my first year of confidence and experience as a leader.Age 15: Played for my high school team, coming off the bench to play at the 2. I finished all games, and for that, earned the overall 9th Grade Athlete of the Year in a class of about 200. That was unexpected.Age 15: Played for the AAU team, starter and co-captain, and had my best year ever. In the provincial tournament, my team got third, and I won MVP. In my final two tournament run, I averaged upwards of 12 - 15 PPG and 10 APG, to go along with 4 SPG. Then I broke my collar bone, lost interest, moved, and everything went downhill.</div>I also had some sort of injury too. It wasnt that I broke an arm or something. its just that when I was in some league I did some really dumb attempt to block some guy who I know cant even dunk. Dunno why I did it but he went so fast that his body hit my right arm and then it went messed up for a couple of years. And then its find now. I couldnt really bend my arm. It just hurts a lot sometimes and I took this drug that was recommended but it wasnt even helping. But the bad news was I got addicted to it. And then I stopped all of a sudden cause my arm got better one year all of a sudden. It basically only hurt after it stays in one position alot or after I play sports and etc. And then I couldnt bend it. It was very painful. but then I did come back for 3 breakout years. And then stopped playing after grade 10. And now I suck. I can barely keep up with my friends now who used to double team me. Hope to come back soon, since all my friends are encouraging me to comeback and I do need the exercise. And also want to make the school team before I go to university.
I have been playing since 5th grade, been watching NBA since pretty much 5-6th grade as well. -5'9 230 Combo Guard, usually run the point guard. -I can play both forwards positions too because of my defensive skills to quickly jump and block shots, defend the post very well, I can play very phyiscal and my post game isn't bad either. -Strengths- Driving to basket, Man to man defense, helping defense, blocking shots, quick hands, great ball and tempo control, great court vision, and great passer. Also I know the game really well which comes in handy when you're a point guard, I know all the zones and presses and how to break them and stuff like that. Weakneses- Too unselfish at times and inconsistent jumpshot. I didn't play this year for my basketball team because of my grades, I made the team acourse but couldn't practice until I got my grades up and I didn't in time so they let me go. I'll be playing next season though, most likely will be on varisty but might play on JV a little bit because I didn't play this year and plus there's like 4 senior guards that'll play infront of me next season because they're seniors. I should play on a summer league this year not sure but that's pretty much it.

If you wanna get to know S_Guard a bit read on, eventhought its a lot I started playin ball when I was young (I am still young) at age 6 I think(.) I just had a ball and bought it to school to play during recess(.) At the time I had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up(.) As I was getting older I started falling in love with playing basketball. It was always street basketball at the time. I was growing taller than my older brother and I felt confident about the nba thing. I was not doing as good in school as my brother however. Family members would always throw sh*t in my face about going to the nba. So, I focused on it but not as hard as you would think. In elementary school I was always pretty much the average kid, basketball too. I wasn't bad but I wasn't near the best. But I had the confidence and thought I was one of the best. I was mainly known for my hustle. My teams usually lost. I never pissed in my pants over it though. I was very dominant however when my team was down and really sucking cause people wouldn't be ballhogs. Orlando T-mac mentality kicked in. People would be like wow and give me mad props. In the end, I was just an average kid. The basketball team! guess what..... I didnt make it. There were no tryouts. I just wasnt popularly known. Some fat kid made the team, due to his fatness I guess. Hey if they wanted to see his tities every time in practice fine pick him. My average self just moved on but still kept my love for the game. I won a freethrow contest in gym class at 4th grade. I just won a orlando magic T-shirt. But of course the jealous basketball team members planned on stealing it. One of them did. During recess I guess.Junior high came up and I was better I think, but suffered something fatal in my nba dreams. I met a whole new race of people besides black people in this school. There was this indian kid who played with an Indian type flow lol I just thought so but he was pretty good. Anyway, I was still an average kid, but I grew on and liked it because no one would set such high standards on what I should do on the court. But I wasnt considered garbage. I joined an organized basketball team in the YMCA Junior knicks in brooklyn. The team that I was on sucked, and I barely got any burn which sucked even more. I got fouled out in a game where there was only 6 of us. Players from other teams played on our team just to keep things going. I was pissed and only scored 1 shot the whole season. I watched the other playoff teams and they were amazing. The finals were crazy. The cockiest team organized of a bunch of well known friends lost to a catholic school organized team. They had fundamentals down pack and a star player who killed them mainly with nash like skills, passing and cutting. I wanted to be in a competition like that and got tired of being average so I practiced developing skills that would seperate me from others. I was never taller or smaller, just average but near smaller. So I practiced rebounding skills, behind the back passing skills, posting up, a mix of a pointguard and a power forward. I also noticed that everyone wanted to be some offensive freak machine. So I stepped up my defensive skills. It didnt show until I was in high school. I hurt my knee in junior HS in gym. It was so painful. I felt like an old man. and refused o go to the doctor. My knee got injured playing Volleyball in gymclass. I jumped up and came down straight. It hurt so much. It sounds weird but my knee just went out. I felt the pain all through out jhs and HS and a little bit of college. People kept saying it was growing pains. I'm 5'11 now, aint no damn growing pains last that long. I tried out for the team in jhs and guess what, I didnt make it. Too many people in nyc wanted to play ball. I hate to say it but these people just stood out more than me. I got nervous. In Hs that nevous crap had to go. but with the knee injury it didnt help.So in between jhs and highschool I joined the Jr knicks and started organized bball again. My team sucked and I think players were scared to go to games cause they didnt want to get embarrassed. They were gay. I went but then I figured it made no sense anymore cause the team wouldnt even be there. That sucked, but I took the time to develop my standout skills, mainly DEFENSE. I watched nba games more for Defensive improvement and my Behind the Back moves developed very nicely! I never went back to that YMCA again, but I did do something I felt proud about. I hit 13 3 pointers in a row. 6 halfcourt shots in a row. I loved that. not much people were there to see it tho. Just some other kid giving me the ball back and the workers. In highschool I was on that average level crap again, mainly because my knees would hurt so much. I kept telllin people that if my knees got better I would be better. They got tired of that sh*tty excuse I'm sure. In my sophmore year my knees were much less painfull. I started going to Basketball City in manhattan/NYC to practice on my own, offensive skills and playing with much better and older people. One day I went in just to practice, I saw some kids and went to them. They just threw me onto their team to start practicing. I guess it was the first day. I impressed them a lot for my age division. They gave me a basketball city jersey, free pizza and other stuff. I was one happy black boy. However, I told them I had to leave early and never went back. I never asked them if I had to pay to come in practice. Because I had to pay everytime I went. Thats the main reason I left. The money. I really regret that, because thats the first team I was with that the players showed me mad love and liked how I played, despite me being a quiet individual. I would probably be pro or A LOT much better if I stuck with this. That was my definining day.Around HS I didnt have real good control of my body because I was growing. At 16 decided to start lifting weights... and guess what. I stopped growing because I hurt my back. I am still 5'11 as I was when I was 16. These back pains came up occasionally. They did affect me. I was doing very bad in school at this time freshman and sophmore year. Failing like 5 out of 7 classes. I still played ball but I really had to step up my education and push away all the nba thoughts in my mind. When I have an older brother going into law and valedictorian and going into yale later graduated, I got pushed aside by family members and was set lower standards. Hate to say nba player was lower standards, but I wasnt that friggin tall. I was just taller than everyone in my family and most of my family members.Junior year I stepped up my game and school work. I played more basketball and went to night school and summer school. I didnt get on the basketball team due to averageness and stupid teamates who didnt play no D in the tryouts. I was guarding 3 people down low....... That passed I still played against basketball team members too improve myself. They were impressive I have to say compared to me. There is just one thing I noticed they didnt develop compared to what I know I had developed. Loss of nervousness in serious games. A lot of the players barely did sh*t in the games. The ones that talked sh*t. If I was on the team I guarenteed them I would score. I even bragged about my defense. They aint beleive till they got the ball stolen or blocked from an average player. People started noticing my defensive skills. I even developed a crossover stopper. (For me only to know) plus I had fast hands. I had a lot of haters in highschool, but they were part of the average kid group. Smart basketball players or people knew what I could do, and how dangerous I was on defense. I developed a nice smooth shot, but it was off an on.Alright Highschool is over I graduated and on to college. I found I had scoliosis and solved the back problem with stretching and sh*t, my knees were less painful. After the games I was just severely sore. I had very nice control of my body and developed skills that people would be like WTF! Shooting Freethrows behind theback Fastbreak layups behind the back. Constant stealing and blocking.. post up moves and the famous sky hook. My form was perfect. My right hand ball control was on point. I can't dribble real good and never have. I never really focused on that. My shooting however was off and on due to a shot that looks like it was with one hand but I knew it wasn't. Ray Allen also kept me into loving the game also to note.Tragically though, In college I got sick with throat pains which later turned out to just be allergies. I developed Acid Reflux in the process due to staying inside my home All january due to the weather. I cooked a lot of fried foods and ate em cause I was bored. Plus ran outside for snacks.I played ball one day a kid was posting me up and hit me in the chest. I was like whoa! I still played on but afterwords I felt it the rest of the night. 2 days later I went to get my allergy shot. I bought 2 slices of pizza. had 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and some doughnuts. I was chillen in my living room kind of hunched over and I felt like I was about to have a heart attack and my eyes blacked for half a second...... Didnt play ball in 2 years. I developed G.E.R.D played ball again with some spanish people but felt real sh*tty and winded. I still exercise with basketball like movements in a high ceiling room. No contact for me 4 until I get better. But when I play again or get the time to I will still have skills due to my exercises. I will be nervous to make contact tho especially seeing my stealin man 2 man defense methods require contact. I hope to play again competively like when I was younger.alright there, thats sort of something I wrote for a class. The grammar was better lol.I hope you guys enjoyed it.
I started playing proper competitive ball rougly four years ago...My first year I was starting 5, mainly at the SG position, then my second year, I played club basketball along with school, I left the club after a season...I didn't really enjoy playing with my teammates. That year for school I was moved to PG...To be frank I sucked. My third year I was point, but I got much better, escpecially at passing. My fourth year I took more of a 6th man role, which I was happy with...Next year I'll problay be more of the tenth man cause I'm playing with a lot of older, much stronger and better guys...My main strengths are shooting and passing...I'm a pretty good jumper but rarely rebound.
Age 5: Started doing basketball clinics early every Saturday mornings, and did that every week until I was around 7.Age 7-8: Played organized ball for the first time, did that until around 11.Age 11: Had some problems, took a year off, and then went back to playing when I was 12 and 13.Age 14: Played on the varsity team in 8th grade. That's where we stand now...
I'm a basketball journeyman, always have played ball. Played all through high school, I am 6' 3'' and a huge oaf. I can board and shoot 3's. Can't dribble penetrate for the life of me. I was pretty much the Mehmet Okur/Raef LaFrentz of every basketball team I played on.
Started playing like once a month for fun when I was in fifth grade. Didn't really do anything much. Sixth grade...same. Seventh grade I started to get a bit more serious, but still wasn't good enough and didn't make the team. Eigth grade I got a lot better. Made the team, made it to starting position, and won most improved player. Last season, I was one of the best on my freshmen team, and now I look to play for the varsity team as a sophomore.

- I think I started playing organized basketball around 2nd or 3rd grade.- During my 4th grade season, we went 14-0 and won the championship in Division 2. - During a tournament in the summer, I made 6 threes in a game, and my friend made 7. We combined for 40 of our teams 45 points.- During my freshman year, we tied for first w/ St. Francis in the WCAL division. - I'm about 5'10, 160 w/ a 6'something wingspan. - I usually play SF- Rebounding is probably one of my better abilities, b/c I can jump and use my length to get boards. I can also shoot midrange and 3's & dribble/drive. I'm also a better-than-average defender.- I can grab rim easily, but I can't dunk yet... I just slap backboard on layups
