totally agree with you. Barbosa may be a decent defender, he is certainly quick enough and has long enough arms to be great, too bad he's never really had to try (or just doesn't like to play defense) with raja there his whole career, his only job was to run as fast as he can up the sideline or sit on the three point line. I'm just saying if i had a choice between jameer and vince and nash and barbosa for this year only, I'm taking nash/barbosa. I'm sure most of you wouldn't, but they are much better team players, and help their teams a lot more than most of the people on that list.

Just wanted to say, hope I don't come off as too harsh.... Lol.

I like the Magic's moves in the off-season though, they're looking tough.

I will now throw Roy/Miller up on that list also.

It's a bit of an over simplification, but one quick and dirty way to rank stating backcourts would be to add up the PER for both players based on their 2008-09 performance. It's not perfect, because PER is heavily weighted to offensive stats. And, there is no guarantee players will perform at the same level in 2009-10 as they did on 2008-09. Younger players may improve, older players may decline. But hey, it's s starting point. Looking at the back courts on your list:

    Boston:

    Rajon Rondo 2008-09 PER = 18.8
    Ray Allen 2008-09 PER = 17.3
    Total 2008-09 PER = 36.1

    Orlando:

    Jameer Nelson 2008-09 PER = 20.6
    Vince Carter 2008-09 PER = 19.3
    Total 2008-09 PER = 39.9

    Atlanta:

    Mike Bibby 2008-09 PER = 16.3
    Joe Johnson 2008-09 PER = 18.2
    Total 2008-09 PER = 34.5

    San Antonio:

    Tony Parker 2008-09 PER = 23.4
    Manu Ginobili 2008-09 PER = 22.9
    Total 2008-09 PER = 46.3

    Los Angeles Lakers:

    Kobe Bryant 2008-09 PER = 24.4
    Derek Fisher 2008-09 PER = 12.1
    Total 2008-09 PER = 36.5

    Golden State:

    Monta Ellis 2008-09 PER = 14.5
    Steven Jackson 2008-09 PER = 16.1
    Total 2008-09 PER = 30.6

Even before they added Andre Miller, Portland should have been on that list (certainly above Golden State and Atlanta).

    Portland:

    Brandon Roy 2008-09 PER = 24.0
    Steve Blake 2008-09 PER = 14.5
    Total 2008-09 PER = 38.5

With the addition of Andre Miller, Portland should probably be in the top 3:

    Brandon Roy 2008-09 PER = 24.0
    Andre Miller 2008-09 PER = 18.6
    Total 2008-09 PER = 42.6

Not a fan of adding PER when the players were on two separate teams. But I agree that Miller & Roy absolutely should be on that list. Arenas & Young/Foye is probably worth mentioning too.

Where applicable, I also like taking note of playoff production plus Win Shares there, quality of opponent in the post-season, etc. Since a playoff atmosphere is different and important of course.
