Btw, how is this a rumor? It's nothing more than a hypothetical, a suggestion based on matching contracts. They also mention Minnesota - which can't happen for the duration of Nic's contract. Shows how much they know.
Maybe you could get Kyrie Irving, since you're shooting for the moon. Mediocre AND a really big contract for that performance.
Can we please remove the 'Rumor' badge in the forum listing, it implies actual vetted information; . . . lest we start thinking it's there intentionally as click-bait. This is a keyboard warriors opinion/speculation - at best, and is disingenuous. The 'Exclusive' badge should be, "exclusively", reserved for actual breaking news too. . .
True, but this isn't a rumor from someone high up in NBA circles. . . it's just an opinion from a regular guy.
I heard if first from someone who is pretty well connected. Nobody with the Blazers, but someone who's been pretty good over the years. Someone asked for a link, it was provided. Not the same source. As I've said in this thread, the Bulls don't make trades, so I am somewhat dubious. On the other hand, barring someone taking Noah for a starting quality SF, Gibson is most likely to be traded.
Expiring contracts aren't valued much. They used to be. Bulls couldn't get rid of Boozer's $17M expiring deal last summer. The Knicks took expiring deals for Schumpert and Smith. I can't think of any others recently.

In what universe does taj make sense for portland? Aldridge and Leonard are both guys id rather play than a thirty year old Gibson
I don't know who started posting this around this board, or why it persists, but it's patently untrue. Matching the RFA deal only meant that we couldn't trade him to Minnesota for the first year, and that we couldn't trade him anywhere else without his consent that first year. As of 7/18/13, there have been no restrictions on Batum trades. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q44
Didn't realize Taj is 30. If LMA left and the Blazers don't get a PF but do add a SF I'd consider a deal around those two. Taj has the better contract in a year. But those are a lot of ifs and unlikely. If LMA leaves we probably do more rebuilding and want a younger player from a Batum trade.
