I don't buy that he first injured it in December.

He was favoring that wrist in pre-season.

The Blazers are paying for his decision to play for Team France.

I agree. He shouldn't play. We definitely looked better tonight without him killing the flow with TOs and bricked shots. Rest up, Nic, and get our touch back and be ready to guard Durant.

Yup, but why wouldn't they have checked this out sooner?

You can't really trade him now either. Not that Neil wants too.

I don't really buy his..playing for your country is hurting your job here..schpiel. You wouldn't say that about Larry Bird or Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry or Iggy or Michael Jordan. France has a handful of international superstars and Nico is one of them. He has fans there too. I don't fault Wes for holding camps offseason or any other reason. Nico is a young athlete. I value his game and if Wes played hurt, he'd be called a hero around here. Well, Nico tried to play hurt..doesn't matter if he did it here or there. It's basketball. I disagree with Cuban about this mindset. Represent the country that made you the athlete you are. Let Nic heal and let it be that simple. He wants to be out there. It's his shooting wrist and I saw the horizontal fall from 10 feet onto a hardwood court..it was a brutal fall. Do the Blazers a favor folks and give Nic your support. I feel the same way about Davis Cup tennis. It would suck if the best athletes didn't play for their countries.

Does rest heal a torn ligament? How long would he be out?

    Bullshit.

In that case France ought to pay his $11m salary this year.

Mark Cuban has long been against sending his highly paid players to play for their country and for good reason.

"It is stupid they take all the risks and get almost no reward. Players get damaged moonlighting for their countries, but their contracts are guaranteed by the NBA.

If Dirk Nowitzki ruined his knee playing in the European Championships last summer, Germany wouldn’t have been on the hook for the remaining $61.7 million of his salary. Cuban would have."

Batum is a coward for hiding this injury and blaming the fall he took in December. He was clearly favoring his shooting wrist in pre-season.

So Batum is a coward for trying to play through an injury but Aldridge is a hero?

When did Nico tell you he was hiding it from the team? What did you tell him when he said that?

I can't believe he was able to tape his wrist up all those games without the medical staff noticing!

man Fez you really have it out for him..conspiracy theories..I'll respond just the way you did..I don't buy any of it. I think it's sensationalism. I support international competition in sports. It's Nic's decision and I don't find anything about him cowardly...calling him a coward from a msg board though...that's not what I call bravery

except that playing hurt here isn't exactly resting for France. Compare his time commitment with the Blazers to his time commitment with team France and it's a big divide

Don't really care about his off-season Basketball.

Hope he gets some rest, he's looked awful the past month and comes back in a month or so. In the meantime, its good to get Crabbe and Wright some good burn at the 3.

But Batum DID fall on his wrist and injure it in December. Then he manned up and continued to play with the pain and limited mobility IN HIS SHOOTING HAND for another month. And his reward was to have so called fans insult him and question his manhood at every opportunity.

    But Aldridge is a hero.

    Riverman you're not going to
I'm afraid I agree with them, Riverman. It doesn't hurt to represent your country. Once every four years and maybe two. The problem is with what he has doing, he isn't getting the rest and he is not taking care of himself. This has an effect on his employer, the entity that gives him the ability and freedom to do things he does with his life. It's become of conflict of interest. Where is his priorities? His team, your team is being effected by the decisions he is making.

    That shouldn't be the case.

I won't call him anything. But I will say that he was struggling way before he took that fall in Dec.

One was producing the whole season, the other wasn't and was injured and didn't want to stop playing even at the detriment of the team. The other saw that he needed to step up and did. There's a huge difference.
