Crabbe sort of reminds me of Grant Hill when he played with the Suns. High praise from Nico though with the going left comparison. Crabbe could become Batum's bona fide backup for the rest of the season. He's got an incredibly long wingspan and a motor.
Hell if I know, I've said a few times that if the team makes the WCF or Finals everyone will be brought back. But so far Olshey has made great decisions with the team and if he did want to make a slight change I would trust his judgement.
Reminds of Roy does not eaqual good as Roy. Crabbe has shown a lot of interesting capabilities, from three and on defense mainly, but that is nowhere near the quality of either Batum or Wes. At least now. And I would be shocked if he improved enough this season to really be able to give 80% of what either of our current starters provide. Crabbe is just a very nice player to develop off the bench. Maybe down the road his Roy-like moves will be starter quality but it's not there yet. I love watching him and he played admirably in batums absence, but not anywhere close to the everything player Batum is. Last game Crabbe has 8/2/2 on bad shooting in 31min. He played good D, but not better than Batum. There is not one single area that I can think of that Crabbe is Batums equal yet. Let's just give the man a chance to be a backup and grow into an awesome player down the line.
Well said... But I thought we were talking about looks, as in, physically... Watch the next game and see the resemblance. Moves, even how he looks when he defends. He will not replace Wes or Batum. That's just silly talk from this forum
I just don't see Roy at all, honestly. He doesn't have his handles or his pull-up. I just don't see the comparison.
Listening to Nico, I thought he was joking about Crabbe signing autographs and liking to go left more than his playing style. For one thing, Crabbe doesn't need the ball or bring it up court much.
All the moves like Brandon... he's got the moves like Brandon... oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.. he's got the moves like Brandon...
Yeah maybe. I just don't see Roy. No handles. No fade-away. Can't get to the rack. I guess it's possible that he shows a myriad of moves in practice that we don't get to see in games, but so far I haven't seen anything that resembles Brandon Roy. If anyone reminds me of Roy, it's more CJ McCollum. His herky-jerky style is much more reminiscent of Roy, but he's about 3-4 inches shorter.
I've never seen a player like Brandon Roy, it's damn near impossible to compare him. I mean there are players who play like him in a sense (Evan Turner, Austin Rivers, etc.) but no one has ever had his skillset and been so dominant... He wasn't super fast or strong but somehow he'd beat the better athlete 9 times out of 10. He is the 2 guard version of Dame, guts over ability.
Although slower and bigger, Roy had something that I saw in a young Allan Iverson. A fearlessness and ability to create a shot against virtually anybody guarding him. This is also early Roy and early Iverson I'm talking about. They were stars who played with a lot of heart and passion. They both could will a team to a win all by themselves. Just put the whole team on their back and go all out.
Crickie, this is typical Blazer fan behavior, to start salivating over some young player. But get a reality check...Crabbe has only shown that he's an ok backup. In his 3 starts, he's 3-11 from 3pt range, and people are acting like he's been setting the world on fire. That is actually bad shooting.
