Why do you have to bump this thread?

So, after reading this thread, is Ed's Admin pitch that he'll make the site broader in terms of participation outside of the current Blazer-centric reality? He seems to be advocating expansion onto other boards in this thread; what's the plan to make this happen? How do we implement it? What's in it for Ed O.?

It was linked in the "Ed O. is an Admin" thread. I found it interesting, not really knowing the history of the "migration".

So, long thread story short ... Nets fans angry that Blazer fans came over en masse, angry that Blazer fans didn't make themselves part of larger community ... so ... their solution is to create a board for themselves that doesn't have any outside influences. Yeah, that's consistent!

It is somewhat annoying that they don't do anything to participate in the larger community, but I can't blame them when the site leadership structures itself so they have no need to ever leave the Blazer board.

Its a bit frustrating when I'm posting in the soccer forum about the World Cup with the same six guys who always post in there, while the Blazer board has 10 to 15 posters going back and forth there. I realize that I can go there, but shouldn't the site try to spread itself out to make it look like there are posters across multiple topics? If i was coming here for the first time and I wasn't a Blazer fan (I'm not), I'd probably leave because there's no one anywhere else.

^ I hear you agoo, its frustrating, where you have to make same topic in two places, outside blazers forum and inside blazers forum to try and get some activity.

To this day I never understood why you have to stay within one single forum to talk for everything. :(

I used to feel the same way (I do from time-to-time) but I've started to get over that.

It's frustrating to see duplicate threads but nobody is giving them a reason to venture out of their forum. I've had a couple of ideas to help bring them out of their caves but most of them failed and some of them were never addressed.

Are you trying to say you don't appreciate my company? ;)

If you give them the OT forum, they have no reason to leave to discuss things other than the Blazers.

And I appreciate your company, I'd just like to see other posters sometimes. Its not you...its me.

When the nets forum was big, a bunch of people complained about the same stuff, and at one point some staff tried to address it. It failed miserably. Those guys learned from that mistake the next time around with the blazers board, they just let them be.

Yea, we already went through a massive shpeel about this.

People were banned, promoted, demoted. Guys were killed, families torn apart. Nations ready to blow at the wave of a hand. Women raped, children sent to work the mine shafts.

And in the end, everyone realized that it's the internet. And we are just talking about some everyday shit, under some stupid as name about something we like or some shit. So, we just sit back, read, laugh and enjoy the colorful names that some of us have to think we're actually any different than anyone else :D.

    GO RAPTORS GO!

If the OT forum was banned, then what would happen, as happened at other old forums, is Blazer centric posters would start new threads in the Blazer forum labeled "OT - World Cup", or whatever. Trust me. You can't explain it. You can't fix it. It just is.
