Because most of that stuff is snatched. When you snatch, pawn shops will low ball you (or if you go to the wrong one, they'll turn you in), but on EBay, at least you can get some money out of it. Ever bought any second hand merch out of a van? Same concept as EBay except online... can't expect factory prices when it's sold second hand...

Just saying... any time anything is second hand (aka not retail), it gets discounted, and then you're up against pawn shops, EBay, Beezid, etc. The internet has made the marketplace for any sort of second hand goods mad competitive... you should probably try selling them at one of those places before just keeping them in the family. Beats are good headphones, but they have more name value than performance value, so the money on one of those sites will probably do you more good than keeping them. Although, don't know how old your son is. Those headphones are really in style, and if he's in his preteens or so, that'd be a great gift, but any younger, you might as well just cash out on them on an auction site.
Well, you can get them brand new from Amazon for $270. Since you live in Oregon, there still would be no tax and free shipping for anyone w/ Amazon Prime. If you want to sell them for 280, or hell even 300, that's fine. You probably will be able to somewhere.
