It worked for K Leonard. He sat out an entire season after being medically cleared to play - and then openly threatened to sit out an entire 2nd season if not traded.

The difference is Kawhi has actual issues. They are there. Maybe he could play through the pain, but the issue is there and will always be with Kawhi.
Simmons is fully healthy from what we know so far.

Embiid's recent comments really have me wondering.

Did the team pick actually make a conscious choice to pick Simmons over Butler, or was Butler leaving a foregone conclusion that had nothing to do with Simmons?

If he is correct and they did choose Simmons over Butler, is that where they really went off the rails? There have been times in his career that Butler has been a 1st class a-hole....but if the choice was between Simmons and the Miami version of Butler, I'd want Butler!

Go ahead - tell me I'm crazy!

    minds and souls matter.

edit. Just realized that could be taken another way. Not the intent. Meant that who cares how the body is, if the head aint right.
That said, im thinking his psyche issues have been overplayed a bit.

You aren't crazy. I think Butler is the player I have most dreamt about in a Trailblazers jersey next to Dame. Perfect 1-2 punch.

If Morey does that, he might just stubborn his way out of the league. Certainly, no FA will want to sign there. What a moron.

I'd prefer Simmons on the Blazers, assuming Dame and Billups can get his head on right which I do in fact assume. That said, on the Sixers, I would definitely have preferred Butler if the choice was ever there to begin with, which is pretty questionable and seems revisionist history to make Simmons look like an asshole. Considering Embiid DEFINITELY is an asshole, I feel that take is not only a hot one but also a steam pile.

Isn't Simmons a biggest moron with how he behaves? If the money is good they will sign with no worries.

Can you think of a better way for Portland to get Dame a "better than CJ" teammate?

I honestly can't think of another way to take as big of a step forward.

Just find another package for CJ etc. Simmons working out as another all star in Portland, wanting to STAY here, getting his mind right, being able to make FTs vs none of those things happening is probably around a 30% likelihood. Siakam? Draymond? Let the clippers implode and get PG? Impossible to like Simmons at all right now for me and I don’t want to root for guys I don’t like. I dealt with Fucking Meyers Leonard long enough.

I don't think so. He's already made millions, just got paid 8+M a couple of months ago and he's trying to get himself to a better situation. Right now he plays second fiddle to a guy that lives in the paint, which happens to be the only place Simmons can score. That same dude that Simmons' team has chosen to build around is an egomaniac who has talked shit about him. His coach hasn't had his back. Most importantly his team has tried to trade him two off seasons in a row. So if he's cool with losing what amounts to a fraction of his career earnings to get out of a bad situation, that hardly makes him a moron.

I hear that. But I don't think we're going to get any of those guys you listed for CJ and whatever else we have to offer. Maybe PG... But probably not. I just don't see it, unless CJ is playing out of his mind to start the season.

I'm sorry you had to fuck Meyers but seriously that's maybe the worst comparison ever. Simmons is always in the right place on the floor, his bbiq is off the charts, he had a bad series where he let shit get in his head but besides that series he can score at the basket at will when his teammate isn't clogging driving lanes, he is one of the very best defenders in the league and the best at taking on anyone 1-5, he has a great handle and court vision. Oh and he's a 6'10" 240lbs athletic freak. I hardly think having him on the team would be a bad thing and it definitely wouldn't be like having Meyers.

It feels like if Philly liked CJ they would have him by now. Neil has no reason to improve the offer either. I honestly have no idea what Morey is doing.
