Kyrie Irving should be thanking Ben. If not for his situation, all eyes and opinions would be cast onto that flat earther nutjob.

He wants to demonstrate his freedom/rights, let him, but the team is doing absolutely the right thing here. Sometimes there can be consequence/sacrifice to exercising one rights.
I think he's got himself in a real pickle now.

So, we finally know. Simmons not vaccinated. One more wrinkle. Does a fully vaccinated team want to trade for a guy who is not vaccinated?

I think you're right; it hasn't really been confirmed. I mis-read a blurb on it.

We can gather that from Ramona's tweets yesterday since it has been reported that he can't participate in team related activities until Friday.

Either that, or he's been in contact with someone who tested positive.

Will the unvaxxed players demand trades to a team in texas or florida and start their own unvaxxed team?

Kyrie and Ben is a hell of a start!

Some nuggets from Jake's new article: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2949337-inside-ben-simmons-roller-coaster-return-to-philadelphia

For that, dating back to those Combine dialogues, Philadelphia was adamant in its plans to withhold Simmons' pay for not complying with the terms of the five-year, $170-plus million agreement he signed in July 2019. Later, at Paul's home, Rivers even shouted, “It's in your f--king contract” to report and play for Philadelphia, sources told B/R.

There's a notion that Simmons returning to live games would help facilitate the trade he and Klutch desire. The NBA's trade market is fluid, and a sour taste from that Game 7 defeat to Atlanta is certainly lingering around the league. But aside from Simmons debuting a newfound three-point shooting prowess, it's hard to see any interested suitor discussing a greater offer based on a small, early-season sample size. Opposing teams clearly view Philadelphia as operating from a position of weakness, similar to when the Sixers themselves were part of the eager group hoping to land a disgruntled Kawhi Leonad from the San Antonio Spurs during the 2018 offseason. Why should another front office sacrifice premier draft capital and young talent if they believe the Sixers may ultimately drop their asking price, perhaps in the event Philly struggles to start the year? “We think we can get him without that,” said a rival team strategist.

Philadelphia's loftier sights remain set on Lillard and Bradley Beal possibly growing dissatisfied in Portland and Washington, respectively, sources said. A far larger pool of players also become trade-eligible on December 15, then incorporating most of the newly-signed players from this past offseason. It seems the chances of any Simmons trade, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, will grow significantly larger in late December than anytime soon, barring any change in a rival team's circumstances.

Philadelphia's most recent list of interested front offices, to varying degrees, still stands at nine known teams, sources said. In alphabetical order: Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Indiana, Minnesota, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio and Toronto have all remained engaged with Philadelphia. There is a 10th “mystery” franchise that has held substantial trade conversations with Philadelphia of late, sources told B/R, yet it remains unclear, even to members of Klutch Sports, who this purported additional suitor is. No team, however, has come near Morey and the Sixers' firm asking price for Simmons, with simultaneous goals to further their championship contention around Embiid and remain in play to some day acquire a potentially available superstar—either from Portland or Washington, or some other unexpected franchise that will eventually arise.

I wonder what the controversy would be if there was no Simmons or Harden story?

    https://www.phillyvoice.com/sixers-...rd-pacers-timberwolves-joel-embiid-preseason/

Present-day, there's still plenty of interest in Simmons around the league, from teams like the Pacers and Timberwolves who have been inquiring about him for most of the offseason. Recent reports have turned up names like Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert, for example, but sources say the names floated in those talks came primarily from Indiana's end, with the Sixers never expressing much interest in a Pacers deal or even registering serious talks.

That underscores Philly's driving belief here. Trading Simmons for good players, even multiple good players, is not something they view as a path to either improving their current title odds or swinging a bigger deal down the line. They are after difference-making players, not more solid role players to add to what they feel is a reasonably deep (and young) group. And that's an approach that is likely going to require some patience, either for Simmons to come around and buy-in once more or for the caliber of player they want to become available elsewhere.

The unspoken but understood name in a lot of these discussions is Portland's Damian Lillard, but the Sixers are heading into the season confident that things can and will go wrong for a lot of currently optimistic teams. As was reported throughout the offseason, most of the offers coming in have been far below Philly's big sticker price. The Sixers think time will be kind to them on that front, boosted by the fact that Simmons can't threaten to simply walk in free agency for quite a while, unlike most players in this position. As the honeymoon period comes to an end, they're confident more opportunities will come their way.

If Little or Simons don't show up soon, maybe trading them won't be the end of the world...but if they don't show up soon, maybe they won't be worth trading anyways.

What I still don’t understand is why we would trade Dame to Philly if we are going to trade him.

Let’s say Philly’s plan goes as they hope:
    • We get off to a horrible start and continue our bad preseason play
    • We find ourselves like 10th in the west come January
    • Everyone is pointing fingers and Dame grows distant from the team. He’s going through the motions. He finally signals to the org (probably not publicly): get me out of here.
Why, even if all this happens, would we take the Sixers package? I suspect Neil would refuse out of spite knowing what they did this summer.

And if we trade Dame, we’re blowing it up. We wouldn’t want Simmons, we’d want blue chip players 22 and under + 3ish picks.

The only way this happens for Philly is that Dame asks out AND he wants to go to Philly AND Philly finds a third team that wants Ben and can give us blue chip players and unprotected picks.

    Seems unlikely.

couldn't find any real minutes at C for him last season

in 2019-20, these are the marks for him at 82games:

    upload_2021-10-14_17-13-19.png

notice that defensively he gave up a PER of 36.9 and a pretty astonishing opponent eFG% os .808. He also fouled at a ridiculous rate

the year before that he appeared to play more minutes at C:

    upload_2021-10-14_17-16-46.png

all in all, it looks like he's good offensively at C, but pretty bad defensively. Sure sounds familiar
