I'm not good at reading twitter, or instagram....mostly seems cryptic to me

but considering what has transpired lately, I'd wonder if Dame thinks the 'demand' was ridiculous or if the report was so off base it was ridiculous. A Henry Abbott hangover

I personally wouldn't want simmons here. He is a head case and I think that's something we surly don't want a part of. His talent is unquestionable and paring with Daminan seems like a good fit but him flat out refusing even layups in the playoffs really worries me.

i believe it's Dame laughing at the kind of value Morey is seeking for Simmons.

    Morey after the draft:

How close did you get to trading Ben?
I'm gonna focus on the draft tonight. We're back in the office tomorrow working on the roster.

    most likely

Morey is a fun punching bag, but he's smart enough to know that demand was laughing-stock ridiculous. He may have just been hoping that even a ridiculous demand would budge the real value of Simmons a little higher. I don't think it will work. If Morey wanted the value to be higher he should have put a muzzle on Doc Rivers...and Embiid

At this stage we have to throw caution to the wind roll the dice and go all in for Dame. The best way IMO is surrounding him with elite defenders and length.

I'm not saying that I wish we had Daryl Morey as our GM... I'm also not saying I wouldn't. What I will say is that the way he addressed the questions made me feel like he's a real person and fuck I can't stand Olshey... that is all.

Lowe on Simmons trade on his pod:

I don't think Philly is even close. I think the reports that they asked for a bunch from GS and SA are broadly accurate. I don't buy the Toronto thing. What's interesting is that none of those deals are getting back any all star level player. It strikes me that they're more flexible in what they want in return now in Embiid's prime. Perhaps they want to get assets to use a deal down the road for a star.

Marks: With Portland, it might take CJ + multiple firsts and/or pick swaps to get Ben. Teams don't view Simmons as a guy like Harden, etc so they won't get the kind of return they're asking for now. I think Simmons will be in Philly at training camp, and they're gonna try to just look for Lowry in S&T

Lowry will be 36 when the playoffs begin. That's what Philly wants?

Yeah, I can see that. Sac definitely has the young talent Morey seems to be looking for.

In defense of Morey he’s asking to high of price but Simons is easily the player on the market with superstar potential. Is he asking to much yes but he’s going to get a good player and at least two 1st. We are going to have to take risk, at the very least he’s all star who makes players around him better.

Does Morey have reason to believe we would even be interested in Simmons if Dame asked out? Personally I would go full rebuild, but who knows what Neil and the ownership group thinks.

i certainly wouldn't. if dame wants out, I want nothing to do with Ben and his contract. while he seems like a good guy to rebuild around in theory, it's hardly so when he's owed so much $.

Yeah thats the thing I'm scratching my head on. I wouldn't want Simmons if Dame was out, I'd go look elsewhere for a better pick package. So I'm not sure what Morey is holding out for. The Sixers are not going to be the only suitor in that scenario.

At 25 and locked into a four year deal, Ben Simmons is a pretty great piece to start a full rebuild around, Shake and Thybulle are pretty solid too. So they would have one of the best packages of players to offer.

I'd rather get picks from New York or something and tank instead of hopelessly making the 8th seed with Simmons on the roster.

You'd rather have future picks from the Knicks with Dame added to them and from Dallas... so basically a bunch of glorified second rounders, than proven young talent? You can get the Knicks picks and Toppin with CJ anyway. You can get more picks with RoCo and Nurk and probably more young players. If a team full of talented players 25 and under makes the playoffs, that's not being hopelessly stuck if you have any kind of coaching staff. Those players will get better. A team that young that makes the playoffs is a future contender.

You realize teams do have to have players and have to hit the cap floor. So why wouldn't we use up a third of that cap floor and a roster spot on a guy with the kind of upside that Simmons has? The best package you could get from a team that we would actually send Dame to/Dame would actually be cool with going to would be what Philly can give up.

I just told you what I would do. I don't agree with your strategy or your evaluation of Simmons, so yeah. But none of this matters since it's neither one of us making the decision.
