not sure you can count on him increasing his FT rate much, especially if he's shooting more three's and trying to pass more

I’d rather be the Blazers over the last 9 years than the Sixers. Don’t forget all the years Sixers didn’t make it to playoffs. And they still couldn’t get to ECF. I’ll take the Blazers 2019 playoffs over any of the Sixers playoffs. No one bragged about the Blazers playoff winning percentage by the way.

Actually winning a game 7 in the second round on the road is a lot more than nearly winning a game 7 in the second round.

The Sixers were better last year than we have been since Aldridge was here. We got lucky matchups and then had an Epic and amazing series vs Denver. Really it was CJ, Kanter and Hood having that marvelous Quad Overtime performance against a gassed Denver. We had a great run that year, the Sixers were better most of the last few seasons than we have been since Aldridge, that was the point. We've been without Beastmode Nurk for quite some time, including times we've had a perfectly healthy Nurk.

Sixers lost to the eventual champs in 7 games due to a buzzer beater. We lost by an old-fashioned whuppin to eventual champs GSW. Night and Day. Sixers were better that year and last. We must trade CJ to get better, I can't believe this is still a point of contention.

but a large part of the discussion was about Philly's strategy of tanking to build a team. The Philly team hat resulted from that has done better than the Blazers in the same period of time

So your saying the Blazers built a team about as good as the multi year tanking process of Philly, without all the years of losing?

that's one way to put it. Another way is that Portland has 22 playoff wins in 8 seasons. Philly has 20 playoff wins in 4 seasons. In the 4 seasons that Philly has those 20 playoff wins, Portland has 11

And they have two All-stars/All-NBA players under 28 years of age.

Sixers had an extremely disappointing year last season. Who cares if you’re the 1 seed if you can’t get to ECF? Also- Sixers were swept in first round in 2020. How was OKC a lucky matchup in 2019? They were 4-0 against us in regular season.

Here’s the thing. The Sixers are fine but you want better than fine after The Process. They started the tank by trading Jrue Holiday. Many seasons later, Holiday has a ring and the Sixers don’t have a conference final. All they have to show for all that tanking is a fragile Embiid and a guy who can’t net them CJ McCollum in a trade. That’s it. If the Sixers had held on to Jrue and never tanked, they probably could’ve built a team that could make it to second round and their fans wouldn’t have to watch 5 years of losing to get there. The Process was a failure.

Not any more they don't. One of them is either on his way out or will sulk his way to the trade deadline.
The other has a knee that seems to want to bend both ways.

I think that's reasonable, however, I think the Sixers post-Hinkie who started the process, have made some mega errors such as letting Butler go. I also think that they didn't let the guy who started it finish the Process and instead had a new guy come in who whiffed on drafts.

For Nerlens Noel, no less. An injured Nerlens Noel.

Ah, but only after he'd been traded to a different team. The Pels are even further away from a ring.

I thought the Raptors series that the Sixers only lost on the fourth bounce of Kawhi's shot was ECF? And basically they were thisclose to beating the eventual champions - not too shabby.

Jesus, I WISH we had "fragile" Embiid. And you have no idea who's been offered for Simmons. For all you know CJ has been offered and rejected.

The Sixers went wrong when they hired Colangelo and wronger when they hired Elton Brand. Not saying they shouldn't've fired Hinkie, but to deny he gave them a championship-level foundation is silly.

That was the second round. The Raptors went on to face the Bucks in the ECF.

Even if it meant 5 straight years of losing to get him? Even if it meant he’d miss his first two seasons and more than half of his third season with injuries?

Do you WANT to be a contender or not? Embiid is as close as it gets to Shaq in the modern game. Dame is great, but he alone does not make you a contender.

Either does Embiid. It took Pippen for the Bulls to become contenders. NO ONE DOES IT ALONE.
