Benayoun out for three weeks

QUOTE

LIVERPOOL, England (AFP) - Israel captain Yossi Benayoun has been ruled out of action for three weeks after a scan revealed an adductor tear, his Liverpool team confirmed on Monday.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: "A scan has confirmed Benayoun sustained a tear against Fulham."

The injury will rule the 27-year-old out his country's Euro 2008 qualifier against Russia on Saturday.

The news is a blow for England fans.

If Israel lose to Russia in Tel-Aviv England would miss out on a major tournament for the first time since the 1994 World Cup.
