Not to get into the whole MJ thing (actually, thats exactly what I'm doing) but surely you can't count Jordan as being from New York just because he lived there for a little when he was really young. I was born in London but in no way is that where I'm from. I didn't grow up there, I'm not a Londoner. My father was born in Australia but in no way is he Australian.PFF does get on everyone's nerves I know, but he had a point. If Jamaica was trying to claim Linford Christie then the brits would get quote mad I tell you!

I kind of get what PFF is saying, although I'm not sure if I totally agree with it. For instance, we all call Steve Nash canadian even though he was born in South Africa.

I would say Michigan but I know thats not true.I dont get how you guys just decide on the basketball state just by what NBA players they have. That shouldnt factor in at all. For me, its the amount of pride in the high school, college and NBA teams, the amount of people who play basketball, and just the overall fact that basketball is considered part of life there.I dont know what state has that quality because I havent been to much states.
I think New York is the most overrated basketball state. Outside of the playground, what is there? I mean, they have an old collgege ball tradition, but the Knicks suck so much that they take away from NYC's college basketball tradition. Texas is overrated too, 5 chips, that's it. 5 between San Antonio and Houston. Now, college ball in Texas is better than their pro tradition.California anybody? I may be a homer but, Ca has the most successful NBA franchise ever: the Lakers (argue all you want Celtic fans, it's not 1966 anymore) and the greatest college basketball program ever:UCLA.But the game was invented in Massachussetts so, how about some respect thrown in that direction instead of overrating all the already overrated streetballers we keep hearing about.

I don't know about Texas, but they haven't been great for long. Texas Tech has also been good recently, but they have been up and down. And how many national championships between all those teams?
