The guy was injured for most of the year and his team ended up missing the playoffs. It seems that was enough to make half the entire board forget about him.
I think he is trying to compare their head to head matchups....... a very popular way to judge players against eachother.
Actually, it's Pierce/Allen/KG who benefit from HIM. Rondo has arguably been the best player in the playoffs. He completely runs the show for a team that is one win away from the Finals.
They're a study in contrasts. One thing's for sure: none of them lacks a weakness. Rondo can't shoot. The rest can't defend. (Chris Paul getting voted on to the "All-Defense" team last year was the biggest travesty in the history of the universe. (Sorry, channeling Bill Walton.)) Right now, though, Rajon Rondo is on an incredible high. But I thought the same when the Celtics won the title. He changes the entire tenor of a game. And he appears to be completely fearless. If the Celtics win the title, you've got to think he'd be the Finals MVP. If you could merge all four, you'd have the greatest player ever! (Another thing: we could have drafted all but Nash, I think.)
Rondo can't shoot, but in a weird way it helps him. He gets more room from defenders to see his teammates, and passing is what he prefers, anyway. He's also got the speed to blow by guys, even if they are playing off him. When he plays against teams that don't have a true shot blocker, he can score at will.
I would say nash. his durability and his ability to make everyone around him MUCH better. dwill is great too. paul is injured too much for me to pick him. if not for this, I would probably pick him. Rondo could be but is still young.
The main place his lack of shooting hurts him, IMO, is free throws. For a guy able to penetrate and draw fouls, it's a bit of a problem. If he was a very good free throw shooter and just lacked range, that would be a good situation.
how so? this year he shot 62% after shooting 64% last year and 65% as a rookie.... if anything he's slowly regressing from the line http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rondora01.html STOMP
There is no question - it's Steve Nash. He can score at will, and he's the best set-up man in the league. He does it all. His only drawback today, is that his career is mostly complete. He has a few good years left. The others in the poll are good at one or another skills, but not all at the same level of SN.
