Walton ------- Drexler Roy Dame --------- Sheed Lucas Porter Aldridge --------- Pippen Sabas ----------- no Kersey, Grant, Blake
Solid list. I enjoyed watching Roy, but I think Dame is a level ahead of him. Roy played 5 years (Dame 6+) Roy had a Win-Share of 37.4 (Dame 60.7) Roy had a PER of 20.1 (Dame 21.2) Roy played in 15 playoff games (Dame 35) Roy made the all-star team 3 times (Dame 3) Roy was selected to 1 3rd-team NBA, and 1 2nd-team NBA. (Dame 1 3rd-team, 1 2nd-team, and 1 1st-team NBA) Peak and career, in my view, Lillard beats Roy. If anything, I think Aldridge belongs in that top tier (as much as it pains me to say it). 9 years with the Blazers, 4 all-star appearances, and 3 all-NBA teams.
I've been a fan since my mother broke her foot celebrating the 77' championship. I was about 8 months old. Born. Bred. Blazer FAN. Loved Drexler and watched probably 90% of his games. I was Drex FAN. I met him, went to his basketball camp, and got his autograph. (FREE at Benson HS) I HATED how/why he left AND he went to the team that won it when WE could've won it (we had a SQUAD) after Jordan's first retirement. So.... F him.... There's more hate than love there. Y'all know how I feel about the turncoat. Nuff said... Walton brought a Ship... I didn't really get to see his brilliance... I know he's probably the best passing big man of all time. Loved Roy. I accepted his selfishness... Hated watching him break down... It was REALLY sad for me... I shed tears. I don't fucking know this kid? WTF? My favorite blazer is Dame. Hands down. I chose him above. But... That's not the question. So my answer has to be different than all of yours. The best trailblazer ever... Was Dr. Jack Ramsay.
I was 19 when we won the title and I saw them many times. In his prime Walton was the best center I’ve ever seen.
And Walton speaks extremely highly of Sabonis. Says he was an even better passer. For as much as I love Sabonis, I also am disappointed in him.
Walton took us to the promise land! When another player does this, I’ll consider them as best Blazer ever. Until then.....go Blazers! Go Dame!
1. He didn’t come over immediately. 2. He never had issues coming over and using our team doctors. It’s been pure speculation to this point that Sabonis not coming over was political. Last I’d read about it, he never confirmed it. I have seen where Sabonis did say he was not sure he had the talent to make it in the NBA. But to use our doctors... now THAT is cold.
Having seen the Blazers every year they've played, I've got to go with Walton. Then it's Lucas, Roy, Lillard, Drexler, Sabonis, Pipen in that order. A lot of people don't give Lloyd Neal the credit he deserves probably because he got hurt early in his career.
