You're describing what Trump is doing to the oversight committee in a nutshell. Comey showed up when questioned and answered the questions...unlike those who have not even bothered to show up basically flipping a bird at our checks and balances division of govt...I have much more respect for Comey than any of the yes men Trump's surrounded himself with that are attempting to camouflage his incompetence and pay for play politics by refusing to follow the law when called upon to testify.
