Again, I already said it's less shitty. But it's still a pile of dogshit.

    That should be illegal.

$50 per mg ibuprofen in the hospital. That's dogshit.

I know it is an improvement over the absolute trash we had before. Just enough of an improvement for us to settle on eating dog shit for another few decades.

    It's disgraceful.

No it's not, unfortunately. We already tried. Insurance company didn't care, we're on the hook.
Since he is a surgeon his time is billed as surgery.

Thanks Obamacare! Fucked in the ass just like before Obamacare.

But it's okay. We have Obamacare, so I should just be thankful.

Again. Obamacare isn't to blame for that. Blame the health care industry.

That’s what’s so funny about Obamacare. It’s so clearly and obviously legislation intended to protect and enrich the corrupt medical industry. Instead of addressing and fixing the exorbitant price gouging, the government instead FORCED the entire population to participate in it at the threat of penalty. It’s blatant extortion and corruption disguised as ‘coverage for all’. Romney would be proud. After all, corporations are people too.

So much so they told insurance providers they no longer can put a cap on how much benefit they provide.

My daughter is a senior this year so we are really looking at college options. she has decided on Arizona. She has an academic scholarship that will pay her tuition all four years so fortunately we will only be on the books for room and board. She should have enough other scholarships to cover that the first year at least and hopefully more after that. She also will have 28 college credits when she graduates from High School. We are trying all options so she can avoid any loans during her undergrad programs.

Nor does the healthcare provider have to put a cap on what an aspirin costs, a much larger problem. Everyone knows the insurance companies will make billions in profit regardless if there’s caps on coverage or not, the amounts being payed in are off the charts. It’s a small and insignificant bone they threw us with that clause in the legislation, glad you thought it tasted so good.

It isn't insignificant at all. It has been a benefit for a lot of families. How long does it take to rack up $1 million in healthcare benefits? Not long at all, especially if you have a disability, get in a car wreck, have to have surgery etc.

The bigger issue is healthcare for all. Which I 100% support.

Oh I do. But Obamacare is honestly a kick in the teeth for anybody who supported Obama. The very minimum would be Obamacare with the public option.

Not admitting Obamacare is a steaming pile of dogshit compared to what other first world countries get is doing a disservice to the goal of improving our healthcare system, IMO.

Awesome! Any tips on getting the academic scholarship? My eldest is a sophomore and is carrying a 4.025 GPA and a full load of honors and AP classes. Not really sure what else we can do to help her cause...

She's also a pretty good basketball player. Been varsity since freshman year, but she's only 5'3"... So yeah...

The AP classes help a lot. She has never received a "B" in any class and has a weighted GPA of 4.222 which is #6 in her school. The kids above her took more AP classes then she did. She is a 3 year varsity letterwomen in soccer, varsity golf, starts school at 6:20 ever morning for the top choir class and has been in multiple musicals in the school. She also is going to major in Biology. Majoring in one of the STEM programs and having the 4.0 + GPA was the driving force for the academic scholarship.

I'm not comparing it to first world countries healthcare. We are on the same page in wanting healthcare for all.

I'm just saying, the lifetime benefit limit going away was huge for a lot of people. That doesn't preclude me from wanting much more. It negates me from calling it absolute dogshit.

I get that, but we're spending about double most first world countries... Shouldn't we get comparable benefits?

I'm simply saying it's absolute dog shit that we don't. There is no reason for it. With what we pay we should never have a medical bill. Any of us.

I think lauding Obamacare is harmful to that cause.

It's not progress. It's a setback to real change. Like most half measures.

It is progress. Just not nearly enough.

Repealing it and not having anything else to replace it would be a disaster.

Repealing it would really piss people off and force them to pass something legit.

Repealing it wouldn't matter in the least if we had Medicare for all.

Repealing it without something better would be the end of the republican party.

We need to stop defending Obamacare and start pushing for better. 100% no out of pocket expense healthcare for all Americans.

Repealing it without having anything to immediately replace it would potentially make people go bankrupt.

    So no. Don't repeal. Replace.

Agreed. Very many of those bankruptcies would be republican. Which is exactly why I don't think we have to worry about it.

    It's just a distraction now.

Aim for the moon. Even if you miss you'll be among the stars.

Biden Administration Announces Student Loan Forgiveness Will Be Paid In Kohl's Cash
    U.S.
    April 29th, 2022 - BabylonBee.com
    [IMG]

WASHINGTON, D.C.—White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced the Biden Administration’s plans to forgive up to $50,000 in student loans for each of the nation’s 43 million Americans who have borrowed, emphasizing the student loan forgiveness will be paid in Kohl’s Cash.

This loan forgiveness program is being praised as brilliant, as the retailer’s coupons have eclipsed the inflation-affected US dollar in value.

“The Kohl’s Cash Student Loan Forgiveness Program will lift the heavy load of debt from hard-working Americans who thought it was a good idea to borrow money for a gender studies degree,” said Psaki while keeping a straight face. “With the burden of debt lifted—and just in time for the Kohl’s Spring Sale-abration Sale™—millions can now continue their dream careers as Starbucks employees.”

Not everyone agrees, however, that $1.3 Trillion in student debt should be paid in this manner, specifically the millions of Americans whose homes are being raided by Homeland Security agents that callously rummage through plastic Kohl’s bags in search of Kohl’s Cash that the homeowners swear they were going to use before the expiration date.

At publishing time, the White House welcomed the new head of the Kohl’s Cash Student Loan Forgiveness Program, citing decades of experience using Kohl’s Cash: your mom.

Update: The program has ended, as all Kohl’s Cash coupons are now expired.
