10 pts on 3-7 shooting with 7 rebounds (5 offensive) and a surprising 4-4 free throw shooting in 16 minutes for today's game Beans is shooting an amazing 8-10 in FT for the last two games. It would be awesome if he can maintain at least 70% for the regular season. http://basket.ee/index.php?mid=6§ion=b...&gid=2007093003
Yeah, I think freethrow shooting is the only thing that can hold Andris back from being a star in the NBA. Well, that and playing for a coach that doesn't really see him as an offensive force. It's unfortunate IMO that he's getting this reputation as a defensive clean-up guy because he has shown over and over that when given the opportunity he can be a first-class scorer. He's a nice drive and dish target for Baron, but give him a point guard who likes to utilize the pick and roll and you can run him on that all day long. Sure he's going to struggle against a few of the elite centers, but most centers in the NBA simply don't have the mobility to guard him. As I've said before though, I'd like to see him throw down more two-handed dunks when they're available rather that flipping the ball off the glass where it can be blocked by defenders with long wingspans (Yao). The other thing about Andis though is when are the refs going to stop screwing this guy? Yes, he does commit some unnecessary fouls, but I swear I've never seen any single player in the NBA get so many completely bogus calls against him, it's unbelievable.

I it is then I have spotted you twice on that second floor capturing the action Today it is Latvia vs Estonia then, if Biedrins plays then he can have a monster game because our only decent big guy is former NBA player M??rsepp, but he is ageing and has lost a step or two. I have took some photos, here are some with Biedrins in action : http://www.pbase.com/siim/image/83077615 http://www.pbase.com/siim/image/83077620 http://www.pbase.com/siim/image/83077626 http://www.pbase.com/siim/image/83077660 http://www.pbase.com/siim/image/83077669 Entire gallery : http://www.pbase.com/siim/4_nations_cup NB! This nr.31 from Ukraine squad is Sergey Lischouk, his rights are owned by Grizzlies if I'm not mistaken, he has been outstanding in both games played so far. NB! Today is a final day of the tournament, so more pictures are coming!
<div class="quote_poster">Semmi Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Nice! Is it you behind that camera? </div> No It's from our local sports portal, just reposted the link links here. And nice photos And yeah Est. vs Lat. should be fun. But from the look of the last 2 games, coach does not run to many plays for Biedrins, he should get way more touches. Still i expect tough game, Baltic derby brings games to another level Can't whait for Latvia vs Lithuania at 04aug.

In final game of the tournament Estonia won Latvia with a point, Briedins did not play due to small injury....nothing serious according to our newspapers. BTW this no.35 was sent off because he attacked the referee
<div class="quote_poster">Semmi Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">In final game of the tournament Estonia won Latvia with a point, Briedins did not play due to small injury....</div> Must be realy something small. I think he did not play because we need to figure out who will be 2nd center for us, coach is changing rosters all the time, and let everybody play. Latvia won Lithuania today 84:83. AB had 7 points (2pt 3-3 and FT 1-3) and 12 rebounds. Not sure how accurate is box score, looked like he had more rebs, he definetly had few blocks, and also 5 TOs. Songaila had 23p 5rb, Sarunas had 11pt 4rb 6as, Kleiza just had 3rb. Box score http://www.basket.lv/online/5001409? highlights http://esports.risinajumi.lv/temp/Basketbo...et_04_08_07.mpg
I think Warriors fans are overhyping Biedrens. Had Ellis been playing in this game he probably would have had 20+pts...
<div class="quote_poster">Warriorfansnc93 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I think Warriors fans are overhyping Biedrens. But you can feel his presence in game, he grabs boards, and forget about easy baskets down low, I'd just like to see him get involved in offense more. From the looks of it, he will no start shooting jump shots any time soon as well.... I was hoping he will open up here more...
Coming from a person who has played down low his whole life, I agree 100% that he should have plays run for him. EVERY center should have some plays run through him to have balance.
Latvia won Belarus today 84:52 ( box - http://www.basket.lv/viriesu_izlase/protokols/5410 ). AB was best today in scoring with 16 points ( 7 from 10 shooting ) and also 9 rebounds in 24 mins. He actually attempted fade away spin jumper today, but missed but fact that he did try, brings some hope lol Had some nice highlights today, alley op, and few monster dunks with fouls (FT 2 from 4 today). He was a beast in 1st 10 mins of game, scored 11 points, and was very active in rebounding and defense, then calmed down a bit... If Beans can improve his free throw shooting to Dampier level, maybe that would open up Beans confidence to try and score a lot more and become an average offensive player. If not, I'm afraid we're looking at Tyson Chandler type guy or at best Kenyon Martin without the midrange shot. I like how they show Andris Biedrins free throw shot highlight against Belarus. LOL.

So most teams have to use guards to get the inside D to collapse and then Beans rushes in for the pass from the guard and then gets the dunk. Either that or he tries to score on tip-ins and putbacks using hustle and anticipation to get the offensive rebound. Luckily, beans is so quick, naturally basketball smart, and coordinated, he often leaves other 7 footers in the dust when it comes to off the ball movement. If his offense can become at least Jermaine O'neil level on 1 v 1 skills, we'll have an all-star big man for the first time in years... err any all-star for the first time in years. If they put Ike Diogu's finesse, shoulders, and footwork on Beans that would be cool.

The guy averaged 9.5 points on hustle, and the coach doesn't even run plays for him. Biedrins has no range (that we've seen in-game) but he averages almost as much as Barnes and Pietrus.

A simple layup could have made it a different game.
