No. 24 Cowboys escape after Longhorns' late special-teams miscue

Once again, a visiting team was getting ready for overtime, only to have Texas hand it a special-teams gift and a victory.

This week it was No. 24 Oklahoma State and Cowboys kicker Ben Grogan who seized the opportunity.

Grogan, who had tied the game only about a minute earlier with a 41-yard field goal, booted a 40-yarder with 6 seconds left Saturday, sending the Cowboys to a 30-27 win, their fourth straight victory on the Longhorns' home field in a series historically dominated by Texas.

Russell, Linwood lead No. 5 Baylor past Texas Tech 63-35

Fifth-ranked Baylor beat up Texas Tech with a balanced attack.

"We know we can throw the football," Bears coach Art Briles said. "If you can run the football, it kind of hurts people in the heart."

Seth Russell passed for 286 yards and four touchdowns and ran for two more scores, Shock Linwood rushed for a career-high 221 yards and two touchdowns and No. Baylor began its bid for a third consecutive Big 12 championship with a 63-35 victory Saturday.

No. 15 Oklahoma uses turnovers to beat No. 23 West Virginia

Oklahoma's defensive players had an extra week to listen to the chatter about how terrible they were.

The Sooners allowed 603 yards to Tu/';[lsa in a shootout victory two weeks ago, and through the bye week, fans and critics wondered if the 15th-ranked Sooners were ready for conference play

Corey Coleman catches 3 TDs for No. 2 Baylor in win over West Virginia

Seth Russell did something for second-ranked Baylor only a Heisman Trophy winner had done before. Corey Coleman is well on the way to his goal of setting a standard for the Bears that will be hard to match.

Russell became the only Baylor quarterback other than Robert Griffin III in 2011 to throw for 300 yards and run for 100 in the same game, and Coleman caught three more touchdowns break the single-season school record as the Bears got a measure of revenge with a 62-38 victory over West Virginia on Saturday.

Boykin throws for 4 TDs, No. 3 TCU rolls past Iowa St 45-21

Third-ranked TCU has made it through the toughest stretch of the season with its playoff hopes intact.

Now the Horned Frogs have a week to rest up before their final push for the Big 12 title and beyond.

Trevone Boykin threw for 436 yards and four touchdowns and TCU rolled past Iowa State 45-21 on Saturday night for its third road win in four weeks.

No. 19 Oklahoma shuts out Kansas State

The 19th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners proved Saturday that they have more to offer than they showed last week in their loss to struggling Texas.

Baker Mayfield threw for five touchdowns and Oklahoma bounced back from its Red River upset to beat Kansas State 55-0 on Saturday, the first time the Wildcats have been shut out since 1996.

Boykin leads No. 5 TCU to a 40-10 win over West Virginia

Trevone Boykin leaped over defenders and threw from the hip for touchdowns. The TCU quarterback even slapped hands with West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen after going out of bounds on one of his nifty scrambles.

"It's probably the most respect that you can give someone in that time and moment," Boykin said after the fifth-ranked Horned Frogs won 40-10 on Thursday night for their 16th consecutive victory.

Hogan, McCaffrey lead No. 11 Stanford past Colorado

Christian McCaffrey is a dynamic runner, returner and receiver.

He can do a pretty good imitation of a quarterback for Stanford (No. 11 CFP, No. 9 AP), too.

"This guy can really throw the ball," Stanford coach David Shaw said after McCaffrey threw a touchdown pass on a trick play in Stanford's 42-10 rout of Colorado on Saturday. "There are not many positions the young man can't play. I'd say offensive and defensive lines are it. He's one of those phenomenal football players."

No. 8 Oklahoma State rallies for 35-31 victory

Oklahoma State got the victory it needed, just not the style points.

Backup quarterback J.W. Walsh threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Carr with 3:06 left Saturday, giving Oklahoma State (No. 8 CFP, No. 5 AP) a 35-31 victory over Iowa State and keeping the unbeaten Cowboys in playoff contention.

Oklahoma puts dent on Baylor's CFP hopes, now controls Big 12 destiny

A Sooners spoiler along the banks of the Brazos River changed the outlook in the Big 12 Conference -- and the national playoff race.

With Baker Mayfield and Sterling Shepard hooking up often, No. 12 Oklahoma beat Baylor (No. 6 CFP, No. 4 AP) 44-34 on Saturday night to end the Bears' FBS-best 20-game home winning streak -- and likely their playoff chances.

Boykin injured, No. 15 TCU holds off winless Kansas 23-17

Trevone Boykin tried to jog with his TCU teammates to the locker room at halftime after injuring his right ankle early against winless Kansas. This was supposed to be a bounce-back from his first loss in more than a year.

The Heisman Trophy candidate just couldn't keep up, eventually slowing and walking gingerly behind the pack. His day was over, and now the Horned Frogs (No. 15 CFP, No. 13 AP) are likely to face the tough finish to their schedule with Boykin and standout receiver Josh Doctson slowed by injuries.

TCU did enough without the national leader in total offense, getting touchdowns on backup Foster Sawyer's only completion and KaVontae Turpin's zigzagging 49-punt return in a 23-17 win over the Jayhawks on Saturday.

Chris Johnson keys Baylor win, likely ending Oklahoma State's playoff hopes

Even with its third-string quarterback, Baylor's top-ranked offense moved with its usual efficiency.

Chris Johnson threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score, and No. 10 Baylor beat previously unbeaten Oklahoma State 45-35 on Saturday night to climb back into the College Football Playoff picture.
