Russell has 4 TD passes, No. 16 Baylor beats Oklahoma State

Seth Russell has been keeping an eye the past few weeks on a determined receiver in Ishmael Zamora and a frustrated one in Chris Platt.

What the Baylor quarterback saw from the pair of sophomores against Oklahoma State didn't surprise him.

Russell threw four touchdown passes, including an 89-yarder to Platt for the go-ahead score in the third quarter, and the No. 16 Bears held on to beat the Cowboys 35-24 on Saturday night in the weather-delayed Big 12 opener for both teams.

Oklahoma fresh start in Big 12, wins 52-46 at No. 21 TCU

Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma took advantage of their fresh start in Big 12 play, even with a far-from-perfect effort.

Mayfield made up for two lost fumbles with four touchdowns, running for two and throwing two long ones to Dede Westbrook, and the Sooners held on to win their conference opener, 52-46 at 21st-ranked TCU on Saturday.

Sooners hold on for 45-40 win over Texas

Baker Mayfield first donned the giant gold cowboy hat -- awarded to the winner of the Red River rivalry -- then ran around the field with theOklahoma Sooners flag.

The Oklahoma quarterback who grew up in the Austin area also made three long sprints down the field during the game. Those were to the end zone to celebrate touchdown passes to Dede Westbrook as the 20th-ranked Sooners held on to win 45-40 over the beleaguered Texas Longhorns on Saturday in the annual game Mayfield knows so much about.

No. 11 Baylor still undefeated after 49-7 win over Kansas

Cornerback Ryan Reid and No. 11 Baylor will enjoy their upcoming open date a little more than the last one.

Reid returned the first of his two interceptions 64 yards for a touchdown , quarterback Seth Russell accounted for four touchdowns playing only a half, andShock Linwood earned the school record for career rushing touchdowns in the Bears' 49-7 win over Kansas on Saturday.

No. 20 West Virginia unbeaten, drops Texas Tech 48-17

Skyler Howard and his West Virginia teammates have had a goal all season to score at least 40 points.

They did it and then some on Saturday as the 20th-ranked Mountaineers shut down Texas Tech 48-17. Howard ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to keep the Mountaineers unbeaten and in the hunt for the Big 12 title.

Howard throws 4 TDs, No. 12 West Virginia stomps TCU 34-10

West Virginia cornerback Rasul Douglas wanted TCU to have a taste of what the Horned Frogs did to the Mountaineers a year ago.

Douglas had an interception to set up a touchdown and No. 12 West Virginia held TCU scoreless in the second half of a 34-10 win Saturday.

Joe Williams, recently unretired, runs for 332 yards in Utah win

Five years after Utah running back Joe Williams and UCLA quarterback Mike Fafaul left Fork Union Military Academy together, they both posted record-breaking performances on the same wild afternoon.

Only Williams left the Rose Bowl happy with his effort -- and his decision to get back in the game with the Utes.

Williams rushed for a school-record 332 yards and four touchdowns in his second game back from retirement, and No. 19 Utah held off pass-happy UCLA 52-45 Saturday.

No. 16 Oklahoma outlasts Texas Tech 66-57

Baker Mayfield knew Texas Tech's offense would put up points Saturday night.

"I told some of the guys at halftime, `If you're scared and you don't want to score every drive, then stay in here," the Sooners quarterback said.

The only thing to stop No. 16 Oklahoma after that was the final whistle.

Mayfield passed for seven touchdowns and 545 yards to help the Sooners beat Texas Tech 66-59 in a game that broke the NCAA record for combined offensive yards with 1,708.

Texas hands No. 8 Baylor first loss with late field goal

Texas coach Charlie Strong insists that he can live with the "noise," the criticism of his program and speculation about his job security.

He would rather his players not have to endure the week-to-week referendum games.

The Longhorns earned another temporary break from the hot-seat talk when Trent Domingue kicked a 39-yard field goal with 46 seconds remaining and Texas upset No. 8 Baylor 35-34 on Saturday to hand the Bears their first loss.

Mayfield's 4 TDs, strong defense lead Oklahoma past Kansas

Desperate for a strong performance from its defense, Oklahoma found the perfect opponent in Kansas' feeble offense.

No. 16 Oklahoma's offense did its usual thing -- rolling up 538 yards -- in a 56-3 rout of Kansas. Baker Mayfield threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns and receiver Dede Westbrook scored on a 71-yard punt return and a 41-yard reception for Oklahoma (6-2, 5-0).

Hicks 192 yards and 5 TDs as TCU beats No. 17 Baylor 62-22

Kyle Hicks spun away from two tacklers, and broke away from another while weaving through defenders. On another of his five TDs for TCU, he shifted the ball to his left hand and fully extended it over the pylon as he got hit.

Hicks ran for a career-high 192 yards and kept finding the end zone, after not practicing all week, and the Horned Frogs beat 17th-ranked Baylor 62-22 on a dark Saturday for the Bears.

No. 13 Oklahoma State escapes on Texas Tech's missed PAT

Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury never really considered going for a 2-point conversion and the victory, feeling confident his team could prevail in overtime.

The game never got that far.

Clayton Hatfield missed the extra point after Quinton White's 1-yard scoring run with 1:39 left, and No. 17 Oklahoma State escaped with a 45-44 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.

No. 16 West Virginia gets huge Big 12 win at Texas 24-20

Kennedy McKoy ran for two touchdowns and No. 16 West Virginia's defense withstood a final pass attempt into the end zone to earn a tough 24-20 win over Texas on Saturday that kept alive the Mountaineers' Big 12 championship hopes.

One-sided Big 12 showdown: No. 9 Oklahoma routs No. 14 WVU

A marquee matchup turned into a lopsided win for Oklahoma, and the Sooners now only have rival Oklahoma State in the way of back-to-back Big 12 titles.

Those playoffs hopes? Still a long shot for Oklahoma.

No. 18 West Virginia rolls past Iowa State 49-19

West Virginia could've packed it in after its Big 12 title hopes crashed last week.

The Mountaineers, bolstered by freshman Martell Pettaway and a sensational afternoon from quarterback Skyler Howard, made sure that didn't happen.

Howard threw for 330 yards and tied a career high with five touchdowns and No. 19 West Virginia rolled past Iowa State 49-19 on Saturday.
