Mayfield, Oklahoma top Oklahoma St. 38-20 to win Big 12

With his best receiver sidelined, Baker Mayfield still boosted his Heisman Trophy resume.

Mayfield passed for 288 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 9 Oklahoma defeated No. 10 Oklahoma State 38-20 on Saturday in a matchup that decided the Big 12 champion and likely guaranteed the Sooners a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

No. 16 West Virginia beats Baylor 24-21 to get to 10 wins

    - Skyler Howard did just enough on an erratic night to secure West Virginia's first 10-win regular season in a decade.

Howard threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, and No. 14 West Virginia held on for a 24-21 victory over Baylor on Saturday in their Big 12 regular-season finale.

Rudolph leads No. 10 Oklahoma State past Tulsa, 59-24

Mason Rudolph launched his Heisman campaign with a nearly flawless performance.

The senior quarterback passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score to help 10th-ranked Oklahoma State beat Tulsa 59-24 on Thursday night. He was 20 of 24 with no interceptions.

Ertz shines as No. 20 K-State routs Central Arkansas 55-19

Bill Snyder was so miffed at Kansas State's inability to stop Central Arkansas's option Saturday night that he jokingly promised his defense would be back on the field at midnight for practice.

At least Jesse Ertz and the Wildcats' offense earned the rest of the night off.

Ertz threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns in only three quarters of work and seven Wildcats reached the end zone as No. 20 Kansas State overcame a shaky outing by its defense to pound the overmatched Bears 55-19 in the season opener for both teams.

Rudolph, No. 11 Oklahoma State rout South Alabama 44-7

Mason Rudolph became Oklahoma State's most prolific passer with another impressive stat line. The defense was awfully good, too.

Rudolph passed for 335 yards and three touchdowns, ran for a score and, oh by the way, broke the 11th-ranked Cowboys' career passing mark in the 11th-ranked Cowboys' 44-7 victory over South Alabama on Friday night.

Baker Mayfield throws for 3 TDs as Oklahoma knocks off Ohio State

After dismantling Ohio State on the road Saturday night, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield sprinted around the field waving a Sooners flag before stopping to emphatically plant it in the middle of the huge block "O" at midfield as his teammates cheered.

Mayfield figured he owed it to the Buckeyes, who beat up the Sooners in Norman last year and then stuck around to embarrass them by singing the Ohio State alma mater on the field. This time, Mayfield flipped the script, looking the part of a Heisman Trophy candidate in leading the No. 5 Sooners to a 31-16 thumping of the sluggish and mistake-prone No. 2 Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium.

Anderson, No. 23 TCU defense stifle Arkansas in 28-7 victory

Kenny Hill was everywhere for TCU a year ago against Arkansas, accounting for nearly 500 total yards of offense in a crushing double-overtime loss to Arkansas.

This time around, the Horned Frogs quarterback happily took a back seat to his teammates on the other side of the ball.

Led by a defense that stifled its opponent for a second straight week, No. 23 TCU (2-0) made amends for its loss a year ago by earning a 28-7 win over the Razorbacks (1-1) on Saturday.

Kendall Adams' 2 defensive TDs lift No. 19 Kansas St to rout

Kendall Adams hadn't scored since high school.

On Saturday, the defensive player reached the end zone twice in the first half returning an interception and fumble for touchdowns to lead Kansas State. The No. 19 Wildcats used those scores to rout Charlotte 55-7.

With Ohio State win, OU announces its return to title-caliber defense

During a key sequence to begin the fourth quarter last weekend, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett rolled right hoping to convert on fourth down in Oklahoma territory. Instead, Sooners true freshman linebacker Kenneth Murray sliced through a seam of blockers and leveled Barrett, forcing him to throw incomplete into triple coverage.

Minutes later, Baker Mayfield had Oklahoma in the end zone again. And when sophomore cornerback Parnell Motley intercepted Barrett on Ohio State's ensuing offensive play, the Sooners effectively put the Buckeyes away with another touchdown.

Mayfield, who has consumed all of the media oxygen after a brilliant performance in the 31-16 victory at Ohio State, might have planted the crimson flag at the Horseshoe. Quietly, however, it was the Oklahoma defense that staked a claim in Columbus as a unit capable of being a

Mayfield throws 4 TDs as No. 2 Oklahoma tops Tulane 56-14

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield made quite a statement when he planted a crimson OU flag at midfield following the Sooners' win at Ohio State .

The Sooners made a less dramatic, yet still important statement a week later: They showed their team full of rising stars can handle success.

Mayfield passed for 331 yards and four touchdowns, and No. 2 Oklahoma followed its big win with a 56-14 victory over Tulane on Saturday.

Rudolph throws 5 TDs, No. 9 Oklahoma State drills Pitt 59-21

Mason Rudolph's message to the rest of the Oklahoma State offense was simple. Playing half a country away from home against a Pittsburgh team that took the Cowboys to the wire a year ago, Rudolph didn't want to leave anything to chance in the rematch.

"We wanted to come out and blow the top off this thing," Rudolph said.

    Done. And then some.

Rudolph gave his Heisman Trophy campaign an eye-popping kick start by throwing five touchdown passes during an immaculate first half to help No. 9 Oklahoma State rout the Panthers 59-21 on Saturday.

Frogs over Ponies: No. 20 TCU rallies for 56-36 win over SMU

When TCU practices those last-play passes during the week, the 20th-ranked Horned Frogs usually do so against air without any defenders on the field.

SMU didn't offer much resistance for the real thing Saturday in what was a momentum-shifting play.

Jalen Reagor made a leaping 38-yard TD catch between four defenders who didn't jump with him on the final play of the first half, finally putting the Frogs ahead to stay in a 56-36 victory.

No. 3 Oklahoma overcomes Baylor 49-41 for 14th straight win

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield had a bit more respect for Baylor after the game. He also had another victory.

After being caught on video before the game with some smack talk directed at winless Baylor , Mayfield threw three touchdowns and the third-ranked Sooners overcame the feisty Bears 49-41 Saturday night to stretch the nation's longest winning streak to 14 games.
