No. 17 Baylor wins Big 12 opener over Iowa State, 31-24

A tough loss two weeks ago prepared No. 17 Baylor for Saturday’s Big 12 opener at Iowa State.

After a double-overtime defeat at BYU, Bears quarterback Blake Shapen was ready for a rowdy Jack Trice Stadium crowd and was the catalyst for a 31-24 victory over the Cyclones.

Duggan, TCU rout No. 18 Oklahoma 55-24 as Gabriel gets hurt

TCU quarterback Max Duggan outran the Oklahoma defense for a long touchdown and lofted passes to wide-open receivers for other lengthy scores.

Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel never got much of a chance to match him.

Duggan went 67 yards for one of his two rushing TDs and threw for three scores, leading the Horned Frogs to a 55-24 rout of the 18th-ranked Sooners on Saturday in a second consecutive loss for first-year coach Brent Venables.

No. 25 Kansas State holds off Texas Tech 37-28

All it took was one play for Kansas State quarterback Adrian Martinez to set the tone against Texas Tech.

And that play was the first of Saturday's game - a 57-yard run that quickly put the Red Raiders on their heels.

''Explosive plays are a big stat for us,'' said Martinez, who scored on an 18-yard run on the ensuing play. ''It goes along with turnovers and a couple other key factors. It definitely helped us.''

Martinez rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another score to lead No. 25 Kansas State to a 37-28 victory. He was 12-for-19 passing for 116 yards for Kansas State (4-1, 2-0 Big 12), while Deuce Vaughn had 170 rushing yards for the Wildcats, who extended their winning streak against the Red Raiders to seven games.

Duggan, Johnston lead No. 17 TCU past Kansas; Daniels hurt

Max Duggan almost single-handedly carried TCU to wins in its first four games. Against Kansas, another threat emerged for the Horned Frogs, and that should concern defensive coordinators across the Big 12.

Duggan passed for three touchdowns in the second half, including the game-winning 24-yarder to Quinten Johnston with 1:36 left to cap a wild second half, and No. 17 TCU beat 19th-ranked Kansas 38-31 on Saturday.

No. 7 TCU pulls away for 9-0 in 34-24 win over Texas Tech

Max Duggan and the TCU Horned Frogs are learning to play with a perfect record that makes them playoff contenders.

That's the view of first-year coach Sonny Dykes, who watched his team pass another test Saturday.

Derius Davis returned the first punt 82 yards for a touchdown, Kendre Miller ran for the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter and No. 7 TCU pulled away in a 34-24 victory over Texas Tech.

No. 19 K-State beats WVU, nears Big 12 title game berth

One of No. 19 Kansas State's longest road trips of the Big 12 season might as well have been a home game for quarterback Will Howard.

Howard threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, Cincere Mason returned an interception for a TD and the Wildcats moved closer to a berth in the Big 12 championship game by beating West Virginia 48-31 on Saturday.

No. 4 TCU still undefeated after game-ending FG at Baylor

Fourth-ranked TCU had players shuffling on and off the field as the final seconds were ticking off the clock. Kicker Griffin Kell was the last one to get into place.

''That looked like chaos, but we practice it every Thursday exactly like that,'' Frogs coach Sonny Dykes said.

And the Horned Frogs executed it perfectly to stay undefeated in what was no practice situation.

Kell kicked a 40-yard field goal on the game's final play, and TCU beat Baylor 29-28 on Saturday, scoring nine points in the final 2:07 to avoid another potential playoff-busting loss on the banks of the Brazos River.

No. 4 TCU finishes undefeated regular season with 62-14 rout

Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, Max Duggan and fourth-ranked TCU can now look forward to the Big 12 championship game since that is next. There is even much more to play for after quite a statement to finish an undefeated regular season

"Coming into every game, we have lot of doubters," said Hodges-Tomlinson, the fourth-year cornerback. "We know what type of team we have. We showcased it constantly and we're an undefeated team."

Kendre Miller ran for two touchdowns as the Horned Frogs completed the first undefeated regular season by a Big 12 team since 2009 with a 62-14 victory over Iowa State on Saturday, getting them closer to making the four-team College Football Playoff.
