Backup QB Davis Webb throws 3 TDs as No. 20 Texas Tech holds on

The game against Iowa State was Davis Webb's first start and his coach liked what he saw.

Webb, Texas Tech's backup quarterback, threw for three touchdowns and 415 yards in place of the injured Baker Mayfield to lead No. 20 Texas Tech over Iowa State 42-35 on Saturday.

OU no longer controls own destiny

While Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops wants to focus on the next game at Kansas, questions still linger from the Sooners' loss to Texas.

Senior safety Gabe Lynn insisted No. 18 Oklahoma (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) wasn't overconfident as the two-touchdown favorite lost 36-20 to the Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday.

Davis Webb passes for 462 yards as No. 16 Texas Tech rallies

With many solid quarterbacks that have worn a Texas Tech uniform, Davis Webb made Red Raiders history in his first road start.

Webb became the first Texas Tech freshman to surpass 400 yards passing in his first two starts, throwing for 462 yards in the 16th-ranked Red Raiders' 37-27 win over West Virginia on Saturday.

No. 18 Oklahoma bounces back, beats lowly Kansas

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops knew that Sterling Shepard could throw the ball. He had no idea that another wide receiver, Lacoltan Bester, may have an even better arm.

The former high school quarterback hit Shepard in stride on a razzle-dazzle, end-around pass late in the first half Saturday, giving No. 18 Oklahoma a lead it would never relinquish in a 34-19 bounce-back win over Big 12 bottom-dweller Kansas.

Oklahoma State makes QB change, turns back TCU

Mike Gundy thought he had resolved his quarterback situation in the offseason and then again after the season opener.

Turns out, the Oklahoma State coach isn't done dealing with a quarterback controversy just yet.

Clint Chelf made a case Saturday for why he should again be the starter, completing 10 of 25 passes for 178 yards with one interception as No. 21 Oklahoma State pulled out a 24-10 win over TCU.

    Childs option with Smith hurting

No. 19 Oklahoma State has some uncertainty at running back.

    Luckily, the Cowboys have options.

Senior Jeremy Smith, who has been stifled in two of the past three games, limped off the field in the third quarter in the Cowboys' 24-10 victory over TCU last weekend, putting his availability in question.

Considering the explosive performance by true freshman Rennie Childs in relief in that game, Oklahoma State (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) suddenly has some choices when it comes to distributing the ball.

    Sam Richardson keeps starting job

Iowa State quarterback Sam Richardson will keep the starting job for another week as the Cyclones struggle through a disappointing season, coach Paul Rhoads said Tuesday.

Richardson will be the No. 1 quarterback ahead of Grant Rohach for Saturday's game against No. 19 Oklahoma State (5-1, 2-1 Big 12).

Source: Okla. St. to start Clint Chelf

Oklahoma State plans to start quarterback Clint Chelf at Iowa State on Saturday, according to a source.

Chelf, a senior who began the season at starter but was replaced by J.W. Walsh, entered the game against TCU last weekend and helped lead the Cowboys to a 24-10 win.

    TCU's Casey Pachall back Saturday

TCU quarterback Casey Pachall will be available Saturday to play against Texas, coach Gary Patterson told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Pachall has been out since Sept. 7 after breaking his non-throwing arm in the Horned Frogs' second game of the season. Pachall has been out of a cast for a month and has been working as TCU's scout-team quarterback.

Since Pachall's injury, the TCU offense has become one of the most ineffective in college football. Behind quarterback Trevone Boykin, who has started since Pachall's injury, the Horned Frogs rank 111th in the nation in total offense.

Bryce Petty, No. 8 Baylor cruise to 11th straight win

The Baylor engine took a while to warm up. There was some sputtering, a little backfire from the exhaust pipes. It coughed and chugged and lurched through two offensive series.

On the third, the Bears were back to humming like a sports car.

Bryce Petty threw for 430 yards and three touchdowns in fewer than three quarters, Lache Seastrunk ran for 109 yards and a score and the eighth-ranked Bears eventually routed Kansas 59-14 Saturday night for their school-record 11th straight win.

Blake Bell, No. 15 Oklahoma hand No. 10 Texas Tech first loss

Blake Bell knew he would likely have to match Texas Tech's high-powered offense with big plays of his own if Oklahoma was to knock the Red Raiders from the ranks of the unbeaten.

The Sooners quarterback did just that in a 38-30 victory Saturday, providing one of several spectacular moments for No. 15 Oklahoma as it reasserted its position as one of the Big 12 Conference's best.

Desmond Roland rushes for 219 yards, 4 TDs for No. 19 Cowboys

Clint Chelf certainly didn't solve Oklahoma State's issues in the passing game.

It didn't matter though, because Desmond Roland and the Cowboys ran all over Iowa State.

Desmond Roland ran for a career-high 219 yards and four touchdowns and 19th-ranked Oklahoma State routed Iowa State 58-27 on Saturday for its third straight win.

Sooners FB Trey Millard out for year

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says fullback Trey Millard will miss the rest of the season after tearing knee ligaments in a 38-30 win over No. 10 Texas Tech.

Millard, a team captain and one of the 17th-ranked Sooners' most versatile offensive threats, was injured during the fourth quarter of the win.

No. 18 Oklahoma State upends No. 15 Texas Tech

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is beginning to see the team that was expected to contend for the Big 12 title.

"I really like how our guys play, I like their chemistry," he said after Oklahoma State beat No. 15 Texas Tech 52-34 on Saturday night. "I thought it was a really good effort. A good win for our team. We've got a lot of work ahead of us but we're starting to get a little bit better.

Bryce Petty has 5 total TDs as Baylor stays unbeaten

Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty was able to smile even after talking about what an ugly game it was for the Bears' offense.

Maybe now people will start to believe the fifth-ranked Bears are really good.

They're still undefeated after a 41-12 victory over 12th-ranked Oklahoma on Thursday night in their first big test of the season.

No. 14 Oklahoma State has little trouble beating Kansas

No. 14 Oklahoma State refused to overlook an inferior opponent.

With three key Big 12 games beginning next week, it might have been human nature to look past lowly Kansas, but the Cowboys rolled 42-6 Saturday.

Taylor Kelly leads No. 22 Arizona St. rally against Utah

Near the end of an exhausting game, 305-pound Will Sutton admitted he didn't rush the quarterback hard because he was trying to catch his breath. The decision worked out OK for the All-America defensive lineman.

Sutton was in the right place to reach up and grab the first interception of his career. The pick snuffed Utah's last chance for an upset and secured No. 22 Arizona State's 20-19 comeback victory Saturday.
