I agree with folks on the Comcast debockle. Thousands of Blazers fans that couldn't watch the game. Just the worst. I voted for the Mikes. Wheels won me over immediately, so Schonz wasn't that big of a deal to me. These new guys suck. They should fire them and put HCP on the air.
I answered tape delaying the games because it's the closest thing to the Comcast deal. IMO, a huge part of community relations for a team is letting people actually see the team.
The rumor (please note this is only a rumor) I always heard was that Cliffy and Ramos were racing where I-205 merges with I-5 south of Tualatin. Cliffy made the sweeping curve, Ramos didn't. Cliffy kept going and help for Ramos was delayed because of it. Again, this is a long term rumor for which no proof has ever been offered. I hope like hell it was just a rumor.......obviously I like Cliffy.
I thought KP's firing (on draft day) was really a stupid idea. He made some blunders, but that was awful timing.
I went with the Mikes, by far, but I think honorable mention should go to the hiring of Steve Patterson As for blazer cable, PPV stuff, it was inconvenient but it was an EVENT. Whole families got together for it. I have fond memories of that.
So this thread got me thinking of the Mikes. I reached out to check in with them. Got ahold of both. MB is good. Has spent a lot of time with the family, which was always the toughest thing for him and our traveling schedule. Being away is hard. So he has definitely made up for some lost time in regards to that. Has some things in the works that he doesn't want out there just quite yet, but told me to pass along a big "What's Up" to everybody. Coach Rice has moved out to Florida. Has a condo on the ocean and is soaking it all in. He has family all over, Denver, Cleveland, New Jersey and Florida......guess he chose the one with the nicest weather. Gets out everyday for tennis, golf or biking. Guy is in his mid 70s and is still going at it. He I noticed gets the most hate from fans, but I've posted on here before that there aren't too many more genuine guys out there. He definitely misses the game and road life, but he will do just fine. Whether you are fans or not, they played a huge part in the history of the team and with us as fans. Thought some of you might have wanted an update on my dogs!
I think James Robinson was speeding in the Curves, and landed on the shoulder (right before you can exit to the Ross Island Bridge). Wasn't Ramos going southbound when his accident happened?
"FREAK ACCIDENT PORTLAND TRAIL Blazers guard James Robinson said he wasn't driving carelessly when his car veered off Interstate 5 in Portland, Ore., and skidded on its top this week. ''It was a freak accident that happened,'' he said. ''I wasn't in the wrong. The tire blew out, and it just got away from me.'' The $85,000 Mercedes skidded on its top 70 to 80 feet before coming to rest in a brushy area. Robinson and his passenger, a cousin, were wearing seat belts and escaped serious injury. He estimated he was driving between 65 and 75 mph through the freeway's Terwilliger curves." http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1994-10-19/sports/9410190231_1_warriors-golden-state-charlotte
