Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. I don't know what numbers he'll get, but I think he'll do well, improve as the year goes on and be a force for us! Quick edit, also a lot that he does won't show in the stats, at least not his. He's going to influence the game just by being in there and making the other team change their shots.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. Yeah...the amazing thing is that it's a bit under his per-36 numbers from last year. He was very good for a rookie center last year, despite recovering from surgery. He just didn't play enough. I think he'll get his foul trouble under control. He may not play 36 minutes per game, but he'll improve the quality of his play.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. Most of us expect some good defense, but i think he will have as much impact on the offensive side as the defense. If he can score more than one way he will have to be guarded closely and that leaves it much easier for the others. Brandon will get as many point s as he did this year and everyone else will get more. Our points per game will go up considerably. Seems to me anyway.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. I agree pops, I think Nate will utilize Greg more on O this season. Last season I think he just wanted him to worry about D and get use to playing in the NBA, but this year I think he'll expect a lot more out of Oden and expect the team to go to him more.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. It wouldn't surprise me at all. He had a fantastic PER last year; it was being slow on defense that killed his MPG and ultimately his final stats due to him accumlating fouls at a rapid rate.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. Even if he improves physically, with our current line-up at PG/SG/SF he won't get enough decent touches to average more than 10-12 PPG. OTOH, while 10 boards/2 blocks are very good numbers - I believe he can reach that. (assuming good health, fewer fouls, and more MPG!)
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. That's all-nba like numbers. At least for centers......which goes to show how bad centers are these days.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. Brilliant! Best new I've heard this off season. With that kind of help Greg is gonna be a Beast!
Well with Shaq in the East and Yao possibly out for next year, Oden has a serious shot at making an all-star appearance. Who else has a shot in the West? Bynum? Pfffffffff Maybe Al Jefferson if they count him as a center and I personally think he's a PF.
What would Bill Simmons do then? Literally half his jokes come at Oden's expense for reasons I have yet to understand.
Re: Bill Banyo on Oden. Think rebounds and putbacks. A good garbageman can average 20 points just cleaning up the boards, and GO is a damn sight better than that.
13.5 pts 12 rebs (5 drbs 7 orbs) 2.0 blocks 1.5 assists. I'm lowballing here I think he will explode. I once had an exchange over Oden on Blazers edge: AK1984: "I've had Oden's back for awhile now." Idog1976: "Got his back? Oden has had a life size tatoo of me on his back!" AK1984: "+1" Greg Oden believer since day 1!
I honestly don't get how people can be so down on GO. He's shown flashes, and those flashes have been dominant. The MF was tough to deal with and his play last year with the foul trouble was discouraging, but you can see just how good he can be. I can't wait.
I will predict a 10% improvement for GO over last season. That would put him at: 0.455 pts/min 0.056 blk/min 0.358 rbs/min If he can manage to play 32mpg, the above would give him: 14.5 pts 1.8 blks 11.46 rbs I am probably underestimating him a bit, but you can see that even with slight improvement, when he plays more minutes, he will be a beast.
