If you've watched him play at all the last 6-7 games, you can already begin to see the potential. Yes, it's only been 6 games but that is the only time he has been given the minutes. Bargnani has improved and played well each game he is given the minutes.

Anytime you can have someone that is almost 7 Feet, can hit a three and put the ball on the floor, you take it. He's already shown that at the very least. How many teams can say they have some like that? Given how he has been playing and how rare it is to have a big man that can do those things, how many GMs in the league would take that chance and take Bargnani over Morrison now?

Bargnani has been playing better than dirk in his first season.. so far, hopefully he can improve as much as dirk did.

Reason why I would take Bargs over Morrison? Bargs can play decent defense (if you've watched him at all, you will see that he is improving rapidly, given the opportunity), can block some shots, drive to the basket and hit the jumper. Bargnani has already had 2 games of 5 rebounds in 20-30 minutes. Morrison has had a season high of 7 and then 4, playing 40 minutes a game. Morrison has a grand total of 3 blocks. Bargs has 9 in a tiny percentage of the minutes Morrison has played. Feel free to look it up.

So I'm really not sure where "Morrison owns him in every measurable category, and even immesureable catergorys like heart and grit". Perhaps in your world, we don't take into account minutes played.

If you're going to make these kind of posts, perhaps you really shouldn't be cutting anyone up.</div>

He scored 27 vs. Miami......He averages more blocks then bargs but yes plays more minutes.....Charlotte has ridden Morrison to a few W's, the same can't be said about Bargs. I'm just sick of Raptor fans who make a big deal because he had a 15 and 8 game, JESUS CHRIST, he's the first pick in the draft. Of course he is a project, but everyone is acting as if he has "ARRIVED". I still think there is a much larger chance of him being a dud. I can't believe that u said he is a decent defender and rebounder....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... a few games ago for a 5 minute period Andris Biedrins was eating Bargnani alive on the offensive glass. He got 4 offensive boards in a row over Bargnani. Who cares if he gets 5 boards in 20 minutes (btw thats not what he is averaging, he is averaging much less.), he isn't gettin the boards he has to. He is always out of position and people walk around him like a parked car. I have seen every minute of every quarter so please, don't tell me "IF YOU HAVE WATCHED AT ALL." Bargs is also a terrible help defender, most of the time trying to draw charges and ending up gettin the call against him. Most of his blocks are straight up and down, and he looks like a fairy, he is never agressive. Yes he has potential, but if he has reached even 1/10 of that potential yet, HE'S A BUST IN MY BOOK.

BTW, why the hell does eveyone care if I compliment Chutney. Either he is the most hated poster here, or, what I believe, I AM. This whole post reeks of an attempt to totally discredit me....and amounts to a slap in the face.

lol .. what is this, an unpopularity contest ? Can't say i really hate anyone who posts here, which is why i like JBBall in the first place. Even if i don't care for someones opinion they back it up with something at least. It's much better than certain garbage forums. Example: real... well you know the rest.

Blocks are Blocks. I will take 9 blocks even if Bargs "looks like a fairy" over 3 blocks anyday. At least he has the ability, can't say the same for Morrison.

Everything you have said about Bargnani's rebounding, Morrison is even worse. I don't see any criticism of Morrison from you at all.

No one is saying Bargnani is a superstar. We have seen a lot of players come by here and I think we have watched enough basketball where we can judge whether a player is a bust or not (to a certain degree) and if they have potential. At the very least, we know that Bargnani will be a decent role player.

No one needs to discredit you, you're already doing it yourself. When you make points like Bargnani "looks like a fairy" and saying Morrison torches teams for 30 points when he hasn't had one single game scoring 30 points yet, no one is going to take you seriously.

I'd take Bargs over Morrison based on potential, but nothing factual can really be said right now. Bargnani having 3 good games though is still a positive, any rookie this young having good games when he get's the oppurtunity is always something to be joyous about.

27 Points are close to 30, get over it, how is that discrediting myself? I never said Morrison is a good rebounder or defender, He's a good scorer. The raptors need a good scorer (to take the pressure off Bosh, we have no good #2 guy right now) thats why I said he would be a better fit for this team. Sure Bargnani has potential, but the few blocks and rebounds he does get are too few and far between for the position he plays. He gets owned in the blocks and if he never corrects these flaws, he will never be good enough. He looked terrible in the fist quarter last night....I think we can all agree. Sure he has shown flashes of some potential, but he isn't a big deal yet and IN MY OPINION, I believe that Morrisons ability to score would be more valuable to this team right now.

Well I guess it's close enough. Bargnani has scored 16 points so I guess I can say he has the ability to "torch teams for 20 points". Same thing right? You're assuming things that never happened and then you add the word "torch" to convey that he has done it more than once.

Bargnani didn't look great in the first quarter but didn't he make up for it in the last 3 quarters. How about you talk about all those games where Morrison has been awful the ENTIRE GAME? I'm sure you can find some examples.

How is Morrison really going to help us that much? We need players that can score rebound, block shots, play defense. Morrison can do one of those things but does none of the others. We've had people that can only score here as well. Lamond Murray could score, why wasn't he playing here? Jalen Rose could score, didn't he make us better? How about Dell Curry, he could shoot. Why didn't we just leave him in there for 30 minutes a game?

I said "torch" because he was unconsious down the strech of the game. Droppin 20 isn't the same as 30, but whatever. I agreed with you that morrison lacks in other dimensions of his game, but I think the things he is good at cannot be taught, and he has a passion/drive/determination or wahtever u want to call it, that others don't have. Bargs isn't a 3-4 tool player either, but I see him improving. You can't compare Morrison to Curry/Rose/Murray....come on.

My point is that the reason those guys weren't playing is because they brought scoring and nothing else. They couldn't play defense, rebound and got beaten by their opponents time and time again. Players like that are good for short times, but if you put them on the court for long periods, the whole team defense will suffer.

I'm not saying we couldn't use Morrison, but we need someone that can do more than one thing in order for us to really improve. Obviously, Bargnani isn't there yet, but he has shown the ability when he has been given the chance. He has been showing signs of improving his man-to-man defense, rebounding and blocking. If he can slowly improve those areas and become decent in them, then that will improve our team more that having a one-dimensional player.

Curry brought slightly below average defense, and wasn't quick, and very little offense. He was supposed to have a Derrick Martin-like role.

Rose/Murray were bad defensively, and although decent at times one on one offensively, they didn't run team plays, and didn't pass.

I think Morrison probably will be a good team player offensively, not a detriment to the offense like Rose and Murray often were.

Morrison and Bargnani obviously have potential to be good players.

I like Bargnani, because he is 7'0, and the bigger a player generally the more valuable they are and he has unusual shooting abilities for a 7 footer.

I probably shouldn't have compared Morrison to those players, they're all pretty different. I was mostly just disagreeing to the fact that Morrison would be a better fit for this team. He might fill a need right now, but in the long-run, as long as Bargnani keeps developing as he is now, he'll be more valuable to our team.

Players that are one-dimensional will give you some wins but they're not going to take your team that much further. Even though Morrison has been playing well lately for the Bobcats, that hasn't translated to more wins. The Bobcats are still the worst team in the league (record wise) with arguably comparable talent to the Raptors.

I doubt Morrison would make a significant difference to our team had we drafted him over Bargnani.

I would agree with you if Bargnani will develop into a solid pro. I just think Morrison is a surer bet to be a better player, but Bargs has a bigger upside.
