are you hypothesizing? Did they say they were leaving because of cop brutality?

did they make that decision after floyds death or after thier factory burnt down?

Unkess you have a statement from them saying this,

    they stayed after floyds death.

Then their factory burnt down. Then they announced they are leaving.

Flloyds death didn't cause them to make this decision. The burning of their factory did.

i mean with that logic we can just keep passing the buck

I blame God. He created everyone....

do you really have to post all those trump & company tweets here? We're going to see them sooner or later. Personally, I'd prefer later....or never

I'm not diving down a food-fight rabbit hole with you OB

just remember the chronology. HG posted the article about the company 'leaving' Minny and said "this is what happens when a city allows anarchy"

I pointed out that the same city allowed the cop to kill George Floyd and if you were assigning blame for the factory fire, you could assign it to the latter event before the former one.

besides that, I think the notion that Minneapolis 'allowed' anarchy is kind of loopy. Set aside the definition of anarchy and if it fits. Sometimes, events get out of control. I'm not sure how that the city was supposed to 'not allow' the chaos. Was it suppose to machine gun the crowds from blackhawk helicopters? Maybe have an armored division run thru and crush the "mobs"? How about a tactical nuke? Maybe nothing that drastic....just put more cops out on the streets plus the national guard and kneel on 10,000 necks....that would be cheaper and create less collateral damage; be symbolic too

"Sometimes events get out of control" "Not sure how the city was to not allow chaos" "machine gun the crowds from blackhawks" talk about loopy. I never said the Minny police caused anarchy, I used city which means more than police.

Did you read the article and what the owner said about it? I'm guessing not, because if you did, you would understand this post doesn't make sense.....
Don't go down the rabbit hole, I don't care, but I'm basing my posts off of what the OWNER said. Not some hypothetical on S2.

Im guessing you missed this from the owner....

Wyrobek said the plant, which usually operates until 11 p.m., shut down about four hours early on the first night of the riots because he wanted to keep his workers out of harm’s way. He said a production supervisor and a maintenance worker who live in the neighborhood became alarmed when fire broke out at the $30 million Midtown Corner affordable housing apartment complex that was under construction next door.

“The fire engine was just sitting there,” Wyrobek said, “but they wouldn’t do anything.”

Two days after the riots began, Gov. Tim Walz described the city’s response as an “abject failure.” Walz ordered the National Guard into Minneapolis to restore order at the request of Mayor Jacob Frey. The violence sometimes overshadowed peaceful protests over the death last month of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers.

    wut?

where was it I dumbed down the debate to be just about the minny police?

the police can't call in the national guard. That's the governor and mayors. You're the one that said the city "allowed" anarchy. Instead of trying to split semantic hairs, why don't you explain how the city could have stopped the chaos that followed George Floyd's death. Seems like the only way would have been a massive presence of national guard and use of overwhelming force, and all of that to occur on the 1st day of protests....and even then, chaos would have followed

but again, none of this would have happened if that fucking cop hadn't kneeled on a neck for 9 minutes

i agree about the murdering cop but what so wro0ng with showing some sympathy for the business owner and his workers. Even he a long term resident that didnt want to move mentioned the city didnt help.
Geez, cant you sometimes try and see someone else's point of view without getting all defensive.

I see your POV...I'm not so fucking dense I can't. As far as sympathy, there is a hell of a lot of people to have sympathy for, and that was the case with just the pandemic going on without the chaos on top of it. Thoughts and prayers don't accomplish much, IMO, but in the interest of forum harmony consider me suitably chastised for an improper allocation of sympathy

and yeah, that guy is entitled to blame who he wants for a choice he says he's making. I'd be curious what city he thinks has handled things better than his own. Seattle? Portland? Oakland? NYC? Buffalo? Atlanta? Sure seems like Minneapolis was not the only city that fell behind in it's response and got caught in the cross-hairs of the crisis. Maybe he'll relocate his business to a community that has few minorities. Maybe he won't relocate his business at all but will do something different. Maybe he'll reconsider and rebuild. I doubt any of us will know what actually happens with this
