Could you give me some examples of what white people in Portland would complain about? Personally, I can't think of any time where I have felt discriminated against because of my race. I have definitely felt discriminated against because of my age. I have always looked younger than I am, and I have felt a bunch of times that my opinion was valued less because someone thought I was really young. In that regard, it doesn't feel good to feel discounted because of something that's outside of your control.

You may not think that it's laid out for me, but I've been told that countless times by others.

See talked way too fast to clearly understand her message. My first impression is, she is a very smart person using a bunch of dumb ideas trying to create a believable theory.

However I can not be sure since she uses so much misdirection information. I would need to study a transcript of her message to possibly have an understanding of what she is trying to say.

When it comes to racism it's very simple. It exists in EVERY race. Everyone has witnessed or experienced racism in some shape or form in their life.

The only way to kill racism is to end the "clicks" (or "safe zones") and labeling of our society, we segregate ourselves into groups that look and think like us. The only way to change is togetherness, unity will set us free from petty differences like politics and skin color.

Ah HAH! Here is a perfect example to use. Those idiots make me cringe too. When I see them I think the same thing, the only difference could be how I phrase it in my head.

When I see a white kid dressed like that, I think just as many nasty things. I just don't have the ability to throw in any racist terms because he is on my team if you will. Maybe wigger, I suppose because it's a lot like Louis CK talking about white people saying "the N word" which makes the person hearing it say it in his head.

The thing I say about any person of any race with their pants sagging is "how are you gonna run from the cops stupid?"

I watched the first video but cutting so many different clips together made my brain hurt. Made me say something racist and sexist to myself.

I am a Thomas fan. He was a black panther type, a black nationalist, Malcolm X kind of guy.

He didn't benefit from AA, he had a perfect or near perfect GPA.

    Read the Atlantic article.

He is not evil... Those who say he has THE black seat are. There's no rule SCOTUS can't be 9 black persons.

Carson is a smart and accomplished fellow, but his folksy common sense isn't common sense to me.

Holy Crap! What the hell is really sad is none of the Black people that speak on this tragedy, ever speak of the real problem, and you just walked right over it again.
Neighborhood watch is use all over the country. Another guy and myself set one up in our neighborhood about 15 years ago. The key to it is having neighbors watch out for each other
and the watcher knowing the people that live in the neighborhood.

Now here is how I see that tragedy unfold.

    1. Trayvon's moved into the neighborhood but no one informed the neighborhood watch. Normally that job would fall to his father or mother.

    2. His father never taught the lad that you do not do Whoop Ass on the neighborhood watch.

    3. The neighborhood watch was not well trained at all. One little guy should not be out on patrol alone, especially one that looks like he might be an easy mark to practice Whoop Ass on.
Of course that leads to bad things happening.

You, and the videochick, both demand that we ignore our reality and pretend that we're in your shoes.

Then you prove you've never done it yourself with this stupid comment.

Honestly, when White people complain about racism, it's often met with an eyeroll because racism really doesn't effect them at all except by simply being irritated (please don't bring up affirmative action when Black unemployment is through the roof).

You're a young white male you're going to be ok. Its the older white males that are getting age discrimination. That age discrimination you believe you're getting has not done anything adversely to your upward mobility has it?

Ignore your reality? Whatever dude... No one in here including you has ever brought up anything about How racism really adversely effects white people as a whole. It affects us with housing, jobs, health care, the ability to get into schools, upward mobility etc. Nobody is asking you to accept racism at all. But the truth is that it doesn't really affect you when someone calls you a cracker. Nobody's asking you to accept anything but I bet if someone called you cracker you wouldn't give a shit. You could literally think in your head, just have fun trying to get a job Jerome. And you'd be right. This is why I don't like debating this topic with white males.

No empathy whatsoever no empathy whatsoever. Just deal with it and stop whining. The amount of bullshit in this post barely requires a response. It's just full of whatever I don't give a shit. So just stop responding to me Mar Azul I don't like you. Your post is full of bulshit. Trayvon shouldn't have been chased in the first place. Refuting this amount of bullshit is a full time job. Your own stand-your-ground law the one that you love gives Trayvon the ability to stop running and defend himself from his grown man attacker. He was following him and then began chasing him. What are we supposed to tell our children when a stranger is following them? When was Trayvon within his right to stand his ground? You are full of shit.

That may get on your nerves I'm sure. But realistically did it affect you adversely or did it just get on your nerves?

When your wife works for the health care lobby, you should recuse yourself from any case regarding health care. He's a huge corporatist. Corporatists pollute the Supreme Court.

Odd how lefties wanted Thomas to recuse himself, assuring ObamaCare would pass supreme court muster, but didn't want Kagan or Ginsberg to over gay marriage. Both had officiated gay marriages - obviously couldn't be impartial.

I'm glad none of them did. They shouldn't be intimidated by partisans.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/01/opinion/the-supreme-courts-recusal-problem.html?_r=0

Liberals in Congress have called for Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from the review of the health care reform law because his wife, Virginia, has campaigned fervently against it. Conservatives insist that Justice Elena Kagan should remove herself from the case because, they claim, as solicitor general she was more involved in shaping the law than she lets on.

Interest groups keep stirring the fight, though, so far, no party in the case has asked either justice to step aside and experts in legal ethics generally concur that a strong case for recusal hasn’t yet been made.

It was actually a good message. I put it there not in jest but so some people could get a better idea of what Black People Can't be Racist means. She acknowledges the fallacies of the statement but still gets across why its an important message to have. I think further had it right in that its a jump off point for discussion, and Dviss has it right in that ultimately it has to do with empathy and respect. The issue I have with the statement though is that some people take that message and run with it to a point of being militant. The statement is meant to give oppressed people power and for some people that oppression and new power distorts them. When you see a bunch of black people crashing political rallies saying "black people cant be racist" and "you are the problem" then its a little off putting, puts me on the defensive and just makes me think that they are crazy.

People tend to only see the world from their perspective. My girl reminds me of this all the time when we are discussing travel plans for her. Im like that neighbor hood is safe Ive never had a problem, and she say not for a girl by herself. Oh yea, didn't think of that. On a more personal note I suffer from a visual disability and even people in my life that know about it are always suggesting things that I cant do, have trouble doing, or which make me feel very uncomfortable doing. So don't feel bad for being naive to others needs, just feel bad if your an asshole about others needs.

I get what you're saying and don't disagree with you. I'm sure I'll never understand what it's like. And the slurs I've gotten for having an Irish name probably don't affect my upward mobility either. It just hurts when you struggle in life and work your ass off to succeed and then someone tells you it's all been handed to you.
