I saw the racial overtones immediately, but assumed that it was the t-shirt company's logo or something. Anyway, if Kobe's wife did not look like she does, I could understand, but she is way too nice a piece for what Kobe did to be at all justified.
look at the facts Everyone out there who thinks this is a colorblind issue or even a colorblind society please wake up! This world is not colorblind look at the facts. Fact 1: African Americans men are over represented in sports, prisons and are more likely to be poor than their white counterparts. Fact 2 whites men are over represented in positions of power, such as NBA couches, NBA owners and are less likely to be poor than non-whites. OK if you can?t concede that the world is NOT COLORBLIND than maybe you should make a T-Shirt of Kobe hanging on a palm tree while holding a banana with a chain around his neck and a quote at top that says ?It wasn?t me it was my animal instincts?. Then you could argue that there is not connection your T-Shirt and Kobe?s race. I?m not trying to be offensive here my point is that words and symbols having meaning that are not race-neutral or coincidental. A swastika is not neutral, and neither is the confederate flag. We have to be critical of this T-shirt because it "reeks of racist connotations". It doesn?t even matter if the person who made the T-Shirt is racist themselves, or even if the creator of the T-Shirt was black, what matters is the facts. The fact is we live in a world where African Americans were hung for simply looking at white women, and here we are 40 years later with a T-Shirt that clearly shows Kobe being hung for raping a white woman.
How do you not feel sorry for Kobe? If he goes to jail, we are losing one of the BEST players of the game to this... I don't really see how Kobe would rape her... but I believe hes innocent. Say all the proof shows that he is, then he is found guilty. You don't feel sorry? Kobe is a great player, and if we lose him to this, it sucks. He is a future legend, all you can hate all you want but he came out of HS and worked for his life and all that will go to nothing? For all you know Kobe can be better than any of the rookies we have today will ever be, (Carmelo, LeBron, ETC.). He has brought greatness to this game and all you guys can say is, oh his fault. Get some sense fo real, if one of ya'll were him and saw people sayin this, I'm sure you would wanna slap them.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sandman:</div><div class="quote_post">I still won't feel sorry for the guy.</div> lol, most people don't, I don't either. Your right, he hung himself, that's how a lot of Laker fans feel about it in LA. A lot of Laker fans(not speaking for them here, but this was the word around LA) don't even like him as a person, so it didn't really affect them(About how he stays home all the time, doesn't treat people well), do I know if this a true? No idea, but I'm just giving you a take on how some other people felt about it. I was more shocked than anythng, that he would do something like that, especially with a kid and how his wife looks.
Back on the regular topic, I don't see a race issue either. You have to expect you were going to see something like this sooner or later, why so suprised?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MVPlaya:</div><div class="quote_post">How do you not feel sorry for Kobe? </div> The questions is "Why would we feel sorry for him?" It is his fault. He made the stupid decision and he has payed the consequenses (so far). We shouldn't feel sorry for him, whether he did rape or not, it was still a stupid deciscion.
Sorry for HIS ACTIONS. Not for him... And IF he really didn't rape the girl... and gets convicted...?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MVPlaya:</div><div class="quote_post">Sorry for HIS ACTIONS. Not for him... And IF he really didn't rape the girl... and gets convicted...?</div> That's his problem
The whole point here is that he SHOULDN'T have done it anyway, he ended up getting screwd, and that's on him. Nobody forced him to do that, so why would you feel sorry for him?
kobe goes out and has sex with a 19 year old girl when he has a better looking 19 year old girl waiting for him in his house... his choice - his actions - his consequences was he drunk? probably. did they have sex? yes. was it rape? no.. most girls would like to get the chance to have sex with <font color="Yellow">KOBE BRYANT</font>, and would also LOVE the chance to make some money out of it at the same time back to the real topic... did i notice the racial implications at first? no.. i figured it was the company's logo or somethin like that... could there POSSIBLY be racial thoughts in that? maybe there is.. but i believe they were going for the idea of "kobe hung himself". the t-shirt itself is a very ignorant person's attempt of making a few dollars. in all reality, he most likely wont get convicted.. even if he did it he wont get convicted.. remember OJ simpson? cmon KOBE can get the best lawyers in the world.. but i hope this doesnt turn into one of those things where when u think of kobe you think of his rape case, like the majority of people know OJ simpson for his alleged murders.. its a shame.. he was a great running back too
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">The whole point here is that he SHOULDN'T have done it anyway, he ended up getting screwd, and that's on him. Yes it would hurt the NBA, since he is a great player, but Kobe made the wrong decision. I hope he's innocent, but you never know. I don't feel sorry for him at all.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MVPlaya:</div><div class="quote_post">Sorry for HIS ACTIONS. Not for him... And IF he really didn't rape the girl... and gets convicted...?</div> Now IF he gets convicted, that's a whole nother story, because I know he didn't rape her.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple N Gold:</div><div class="quote_post">Now IF he gets convicted, that's a whole nother story, because I know he didn't rape her.</div> I dont think he did it, but how are you so certain?

I don't know a single person in L.A., let alone any laker fans, who doesn't like Kobe. I feel sorry for Kobe. There's nothing wrong with that. If God can forgive him, so can I. And he's innocent anyways. If the accuser was willing to sleep with all those guys (probably a bunch of nobodys from her neighborhood), why would she turn down a wealthy good looking megasuperstar athlete?
[quoteright]Actor Jack Nicholson, on G Kobe Bryant's situation, in Page 2's 10 Burning Questions: "As for most of the fans I know, it's not really an interesting story. Like all of these stories, everybody's not crazy to see it on television every day. We don't know anything. We know as much about this as we do the Iraq War." [/quoteright] notMuchgame is right, people in L.A. have been very supportive of Kobe. There are billboards all over L.A. and radio shows have reminded people not to judge Kobe until all the facts come out. I have been disappointed with him having an affair outside of his marriage, but I'm still a fan of Kobe the Laker, and not Kobe the person. <div align="center"></div>
I saw a news article about the t's, and went to the site they mentioned, www.hangmantees.com and saw the logo on there, as well as a poll as to who they should hang next, which included several white folks. Do I think that Eagle County has racists in it? Yes. Do I think the trial should be moved? Yes. Do I think the tshirts are racist? No, not anymore.
A lot of people are judging the fact that kobe have a nice wife and he cheated her with another woman. That's pointless. That is just not our problem. If his wife don't like it, well she just sue for a divorce. It's not because he cheated his wife that we can get him convicted of rape. That is just scary.
