Maturity, better teammate, hasn't had two separate knee injuries with one requiring surgery. He's shorter, so for me that means less chance of knee and foot injuries going forward (literally no science behind that for me)
He's not worth anything near Whiteside, bu if we can get him and another big like Ryan Anderson for the cap we have, I'm fine with it. Biyombo by himself isn't a big upgrade, whereas Whiteside will win you probably 5 games ALONE added to the roster.
Biyombo at 15M could work for me. 22M is way too much in my opinion. But you are right. This summer will bu stupid.
That might actually be true. You're stuck with Biyombo for 4 years if you get him for $15M and there's a good chance he won't turn Blazers into contenders.
Depends on other moves made. Bismack for 14M and Horford for 26M works by renouncing everybody outside Crabbe. Dame - CJ - Aminu - Horford - Bismack / XXX - Crabbe - MLE Guy - Davis - Plumlee
There's a good chance that there's nobody available outside of James and Durant who turns the Blazers into true contenders. Winning a title in the NBA is damed hard.
FWIW, SportsNation has the Blazers looking at Horford, Biyombo, and Joachim Noah. But at this point in time it's all rumors.
I don't believe it. I see whiteside as main target with biyombo being the fall back option. Horford sa possibility of interest though. You never know what plans olshey is going for. The joakim Noah rumor makes no sense. Doesn't fit at all.
I doubt it we'd compile a list of top priorities with Noah but not Whiteside. FWIW I will be very disappointed if we get Noah. I'd literally rather see us burn money than sign him to any sort of a deal.
It's the same thing they said about Iggy in Denver. He was declining and people called him washed up at age 30. Noah is 31, coming off injuries. But he did finish all NBA first team, DPOY, and 4th in MVP just 2 seasons ago. There are better options out there for us, but ending up with Noah is not necessarily a death sentence.
Oh god, please no. If anyone will end up more overpaid than Harrison Barnes, it will be Bismack Biyombo. He's not even a quality starter. His supposed breakout post season averages were 6.2 ppg, 9.4 rpg and 1.4 bpg - and he did most of his damage against a depleted MIA squad whose tallest starter was Luol Deng, a career small forward. I'd rather just move Ed Davis into the starting lineup then blow our cap space on Bismack Biyombo. Ed's a better player period and will cost 1/2 - 1/3 what Biyombo will get. BNM
How did you renounce everybody and get an MLE? When you renounce your players to max your capspace, you also have to renounce your exceptions.
Where was this reported? Link please. I think you're misremembering. I do remember Lillard saying something like Meyers is his man, in an interview at Las Vegas during their first summer league, but that was a couple weeks after the draft and Lillard was being his usual diplomatic self. Unless you can provide a link that specifically says Olshey, an experienced GM, consulted with Lillard, who he had just drafted literally minutes prior, on the Leonard pick, I find it impossible to believe it happened the way you claim. I have never heard this from anyone else, nor seen it mentioned anywhere in the press. If it did happen the way you claim, surely you will be able to find a relevant link. BNM
He should be. He's supposedly older than he says he is. He just hasn't been outed like Thon Maker has.
